Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I think this may just be true. Someone told the Harris campaign about the “comedian’s” act for tonight. Maybe one of the people who loaded the teleprompter and were disgusted? Anyway, it’s really wild that Harris had her statement on Puerto Rico videotaped and ready to go.

NOVI, Mich. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly referred to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper with a woman’s first name in recent days as the Republican presidential nominee focuses his closing message on a hypermasculine appeal to men.

On a Friday morning post on Trump’s social media site Truth Social, the former president referred to one of the most prominent openly gay journalists in the U.S. as “Allison Cooper.”

Trump made the subtext even more explicit later Friday during a rally in Traverse City, Michigan, where he criticized a town hall Cooper hosted with Vice President Kamala Harris.

“If you watched her being interviewed by Allison Cooper the other night, he’s a nice person. You know Allison Cooper? CNN fake news,” Trump said, before pausing and saying in a mocking voice: “Oh, she said no, his name is Anderson. Oh, no.”……

Somehow Trump chooses the word “decapitate” to indicate that Vance (i think he’s talking about Vance here) got the best of a woman journalist. Who talks that way who isn’t just insane?

To me, the worst thing Trump said that reveals just how much of a psychopath he is is at the end when he delightfully says that "she'll never be the same."

If Trump wins, around 10 million people will be enslaved and crammed into forced labor camps, that they'll call "detention centers," to be worked to death.

Drudge has a headline that Mike Johnson called Harris the Anti-Christ? Is that true? I haven’t seen a clip about what he said.

Edit: maybe this lunatic is also named Johnson?

As he was waving that cross in the second clip, I half expected him to starting shouting, "the power of Trump compels you, the power of Trump compels you." I have no doubt Harris is going to crush Trump and these guys on Tuesday. I just hope she sets up inflatable screens to project clips from the rabid insanity of Trump's Madison Square Garden rally.

Show, don't just tell. She starts at 7pm so projecting video is very much a possibility. More people have been tuning in to watch Harris than Trump, so having those videos will help maximize the number of voters that see the sociopathic insanity of Trump and Republicans.

Phil is a piece of shirt.

There's the message again, "work makes one free." They are paraphrasing, but that is the value they are pushing and there's a sinister reason they are pushing it. Trump's and Republican's agenda is a lot more like Hitler's and the Nazi's agenda than people are admitting.

Pete, like Trump and Republicans, grossly underestimate people's ability to do two things at the same time. People will be talking and hearing about the genuine insanity of Trump's rally, but they will also be talking and hearing about all of Harris's positives. It's not an either or situation.

Statements like these from Pete is just one of the reasons I don't care for him. Don't dislike or hate him, but don't ever want him to be president.

I don't know, it seems when I walk away from these individual clips of this rally I've seen, what I walk away with is the sense Criminal and company just gave MAGA leave to counter PC criticism with Bronks cheers, to take it to the streets.

I don't know what this will do. A whole lot of them chafe under what they see as the Tyranny of the Shoulds. I expect some will phrase it as you're allowed to clown and joke around again.

By joke around I mean indulge in casual racism on the streets.

If enough of them make a concerted effort all at once it might have a dramatic effect. But I don't know what it will do.

I think this was a bigger deal than I thought it would be. I wonder if I will notice a difference in society next time I go to town.

Interesting read.
Indeed and then one finds out there is another link there to the actual report which is even more fun to read. This link if it works will download a 22 page pdf. The statistical method and analysis they are using is valid for what they are doing with it.

It doesn't solve the major problem polling currently faces which is an inability to generate a truly random sample set of interviews.

Their results matches my sense as to where we are. And comes by it with a different method.

However that coincident doesn't give me a great sense of optimism, it's a classic warring that I'm not spotting something which invalidates my thesis. I'm talking about superstitious bad luck. I would rather be the only one who thinks what I do. Having someone agreeing with me kind of unnerves me.

Coming back to that, I found this, and it speaks within what I wrote:

Here is what prominent MAGA voices are saying:

Another one that I saw, and now cannot find, said that Democrats cannot deal with the “raw power” on display at the MSG rally.

The problem with calling him Hitler is that he hasn’t committed atrocities, and even the things he wants to do don’t rise to the level of Hitler. I think people mock the comparison because it is so extreme. It is fair to point out that Hitler didn’t commit those atrocities until he was entrenched securely in office. It is also fair to point out that Trump idolizes ruthless dictators, but we don’t know if he would ever be that ruthless. I think we should just say that his admiration of Hitler is dangerous and could indicate his proclivity to do horrible things.
The problem is that you compare him with Hitler from 1945. If you take a look at his earlier years in power, the comparison are really stunning

Building Political Influence

  • 1932: Hitler runs for president but loses to Paul von Hindenburg. However, the Nazis win 37% of the vote in the July elections, making them the largest party in the Reichstag.
  • January 30, 1933: Hindenburg appoints Hitler as Chancellor, hoping to control him within a coalition government.
  • February 27, 1933: The Reichstag Fire occurs, which the Nazis blame on communists, leading to the Reichstag Fire Decree. This decree suspends civil liberties, allowing arrests without trial and censorship of the press.
  • March 1933: The Enabling Act is passed, giving Hitler dictatorial powers by allowing him to enact laws without Reichstag approval. This effectively dismantles democratic processes in Germany.
  • April 1933: Nazis begin purging Jews and political opponents from the civil service and establish the first concentration camps for political prisoners.
  • July 1933: All political parties except the Nazi Party are banned, establishing Germany as a one-party state.

All this happened within SIX months. Look at how many of the above embolded actions are part of Trumps plan if he wins..

Who is this idiot? Used to be they yearned for the 1950’s, now they yearn for 1900? 🤦‍♀️

Please explain the context that makes “floating garbage” and “carving watermelons” perfectly acceptable

“I make fun of everyone. Latinos in general, Puerto Ricans in particular, blacks, gays, trans, liberal snowflakes, nancy men who think it’s okay to cry, people who think covid and climate change are real. See? Everyone.”

but the people they made jokes about and degraded are ones who make a difference in swing states.
Especially the one about Puerto Rico. that wasn't even a joke, that was basically jsut a statement. jokes have a lead up to a punchline. there was no punchline..
There are more PR's living in the US than in PR itself. a lot of PRs do vote republican, and if this stuff tips a few percent the other way, then that helps. especailly in swing states.
with Pennslvannia and Florida having extemely high PR population, this could hurt those states..

It was a joke is probably the most cowardly thing someone can do to distance themselves from what they said and mean. He’s extremely cowardly. Oh, and Phil McGraw is a charlatan piece of shirt.

context matters also.
He is a shock comedian. this is what he does. And in a comedy standup setting, people would just blow this off. But when you are at a rally with a bunch of people who have the reputation of exactly this train of thought. If it was just a "joke" would he tell those same jokes somewhere where those people he was "joking" about were the main attendees. I would bet not. I always say if you want to know if what you are saying is racists, say it to the ones who are saying it about. if you won't do that, then its racist.

there was an old clip i wish it could find from back in the day where they were talking about if the term Redskins was offensive and the guys he was talking to say no, its not, no way. then he brought out a group of Native Americans and not one of those guys would call any of them a Redskin..
