As we head toward the summer and the National Party Conventions, it might be handy to have a thread focused on the upcoming matchup of current President Biden vs Former President Trump.
As of April 28,2024 , CNN's poll shows Trump leading. Yet polls are not always accurate and they are constantly changing.
Feel free to use this thread for all things relating to Biden vs Trump.

It still boggles my mind that after he literally tried to lie and steal his way to a second term after the 2020 election that this country could turn around and reelect him four years later.
The dude still claims the election was stolen and the folks that raided the capitol were "peaceful protesters" and hostages that will be pardoned if he's re-elected. I can't wrap my mind around people that do not think January 6th was a big deal. I just don't get it.

The "Redwave" wasn't getting the panicked, must-act-now thwarting attention of Mega donors, Obama surrogates, Nancy, Chuck, Schiff, and the like.... This is different... This is a call to save the ship and scuttle the captain.
But I remember Trump and every other Republican at the time saying that the Dems would get crushed.

I'm just saying... If Nancy is making calls, Obama is pushing OP EDs, and Adam is going public... the white flag is up... Harris is going down with the ship, and they are going to try to save the House and Senate down ballet candidates... take that for what it's worth... I don't have a horse in this race, and haven't for a while... I have been a 3rd party voter since 2016

He’s got a core base that worships him because he’s a “successful businessman.”
A successful businessman that represents rural America.
Which is ironic because Trump Tower is still in NY.
There is no way Trump would build a Trump Tower in rural America.
Rural America wouldnt vote for him if he ran as an Independent.

    Its tribal.

Trump picked up on this decades ago and made the shift. There was always only one party that felt aggrieved enough to fall victim to the con.

    only one.

And I’m saying that Trump supporters have a HUGE blind spot in regards to Donald.
They underestimate just how hated he his.
At best, Trump wins a razor thin race.
It ain’t gonna be a landslide.

These are all ifs. How do you force him to go? Believe me, if they had a way to do it, in other words if there were real evidence of him being unfit, they could do it. But all this over polls, which have been unreliable in recent elections to say the least, just confounds me. I don’t get it.

I saw this just now. I also saw where a recent poll’s crosstabs showed that their entire sample of African American voters was 17 and then they extrapolated. They polled over 600 white voters. The polling that is going on is crazy.

I think the "hate" for Trump is overestimated... I don't (and never will) vote for him because I think he's an egomaniacal goof with policies I don't always agree with... It's has nothing to do with hate - I don't hate him - nor do I buy exaggerated magic snake oil from anyone no matter if it comes in a blue or red bottle. In fact... In the last year.... I have spoken with many people that have shared my view on him... and MANY have done a complete 180 on him... and I know it's anecdotal... but It's a significant number of people I know - that "could just never" (spoiler alert) like 8 months ago.

I'm no Nostradumbass (pun intended) but I am thinking this is over- like right now... just don't be shocked.

you can only yell conspiracy theory so many times before people get tired of it..lol

I'm just reading the room, and going by what folks with skins in the game are doing, what I see and hear in moderate/independent circles I live in, and what majority of trust worthy polling outlets are reporting about swing states... It could change... I don't see it happening. I think the white flag is waved, Biden is being replaced, and steps to mitigate a complete party meltdown are on the immediate horizon for the democrats.

Denial would be to ignore the fact that I'm standing with the Captain and his first mate.

If they can get him to step aside, that’s fine. But what possible justification is there to replace him involuntarily at the top of the ticket? How do you wipe away all the primaries?

I think people vastly underestimate the chaos of replacing your candidate at this point. Heritage already plans to sue in swing states if Dems try to replace him, and I don’t know much about the various state laws involved. I sure hope Democratic leadership does their homework and knows what they are doing. This is a radical step in a race that is within the margin of error.

Bruh... I just don't think they have a choice... between the elites and donors trying to stop the ship from sinking completely... and this sort of "enthusiasm" from base voters...

I don't think they have a choice... If they don't it's more likely... Dems voters stay home on Nov 6... and they lose the trifecta.

Speaking for women who are pissed off about Roe, the push to outlaw IVF, the push to end no-fault divorce, the push to outlaw some forms of contraception, they won’t stay home. They will vote no matter who the nominee is. I would like to think men would be the same after seeing the GOP plan for women. It would be nice to think they realize what it means for women.

If the Dems get a new candidate, all you need is a few ads about Project 2025 and they’ll be in the lead.

People in this thread like to point that Biden isn't that far behind. If you look at battleground states with senate races. Those range from +4-12 with the Democrat winning in all of them. This is with a weak incumbent potentially dragging those numbers down. That's how far behind Joe really is in all these states.
