As of April 28,2024 , CNN's poll shows Trump leading. Yet polls are not always accurate and they are constantly changing.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, the right-wing media behemoth swallowing up local news stations and spitting them out as zombie GOP propaganda mills, is ramping up pro-Trump content in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Its latest plot? A coordinated effort across at least 86 local news websites to suggest that Joe Biden is mentally unfit for the presidency, based on edited footage and misinformation.

Sinclair, which owns hundreds of television news stations around the country, has been laundering GOP talking points about Biden’s age and mental capacity into news segments of local Fox, ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates.

The shoddy evidence behind the segments, originally published by Sinclair’s National Desk, appears to have been lifted directly from social media posts by RNC Research, the X account operated by the Lara Trump–run Republican National Committee.

I think that what they Trump and Republicans are trying to pull off is to panic Democrats into trapping themselves in a political kill zone. It's a technique some hunters use. They panic a group of their prey and corral the panicked group into a pit, boxed canyon, cove or something other trap. Then they start killing the trapped animals in mass. Tuna fisherman to this day slaughter thousands of dolphins in this way to keep them from eating "their" tuna.

Trump and Republicans are trying to panic Democrats into kicking Biden out because they are worried about running against Biden and they are ready to wage "lawfare" to kick any Biden replacement off of state ballots thereby killing the chances any Biden replacement has of winning the election.

I just saw this, which is similar to what you are saying. I think it’s certainly plausible that this is what the GOP desperately wants. Because most politicians with any sense at all know by now that their candidate and their agenda is not popular with American voters. Trump is the most hated man in America. Project 2025 will be hated by a pretty vast majority once they all hear about it. Their only hope if they don’t want to get wiped out like the Tories is a brokered democratic convention. What I don’t understand is the way pundits and D commentators are helping spread this chaos.

Seems as if the polls have gone back to where they were pre-debate. What is the justification then for forcing Biden out? He’s been campaigning every day non-stop since the debate, he did an ABC interview, and I just saw where he called into Morning Joe this am. He talks unscripted with people every day. What are we doing here, why are we trying to give this election to Trump?

Some media pundit made a tasteless joke (cough..Brian Stelter…cough) and far right loonies started the rumor that Biden has Parkinson’s. Which is a severe disease that doesn’t cause cognitive issues until the late stages.

Now main stream media are demanding to know if Biden has been tested for Parkinson’s. Good lord, I just have no words. What the hell is wrong with these people?

I don't know, someone named Greg was bothering Joe Biden on Twitter this morning. I noticed his post below Biden's while I was picking up Biden's post to bring to the Debate thread.

That would be the case on both sides. Neither has to worry about the consequences or running again after this. Unless Biden is replaced by Kamala or someone.

There are a small fraction of democrats that act violent, and no democratic leaders. Republican leadership and thought leaders are thugs like Trump, Green, Bannnon, Stephen Miller, Jenny Thomas, talk show hosts around the country, etc. Jurists fear for their lives if they convict right wingers while no one goes after jurists that convict left wingers. The right is much more dangerous and powerful. It is by far the bigger threat to democracy.

I did see where Lindsey Graham proposed that all candidates take a cognitive exam. Politico was covering that.

I guess Graham is retiring, at least that's the only logical outcome I can envision if Graham where to get his way. Cognitively speaking I wonder if he could see that logical outcome facing him as a natural end result of his own proposal.

I can’t stand Lindsay Graham, because he is one of the most hypocritical politicians. He constantly changes his stances, but I agree that all candidates for president and congress should be required to take cognitive exams.
