As we head toward the summer and the National Party Conventions, it might be handy to have a thread focused on the upcoming matchup of current President Biden vs Former President Trump.
As of April 28,2024 , CNN's poll shows Trump leading. Yet polls are not always accurate and they are constantly changing.
Feel free to use this thread for all things relating to Biden vs Trump.

This is essentially what I was going to say about pollsters tweaking their weighting methodology. I think pollsters are constantly tweaking to account for the lack of landlines and the Trump phenomena. Since they overcounted Republicans in 2022, they may be tweaking it again now to lower their Republican weighting to adjust for the over count, which would be bad for Biden, since Democrats have to win the popular vote by a large margin, otherwise the battlegrounds will be lost. We know the populous California and New York can skew the popular vote, so if the popular vote is close, that is not good for Democrats.
Nothing to back up what I'm about to say. It's just a gut feeling. I believe PA. and Wisconsin are the key. I believe if
Biden can win those two states again he will be reelected. I also believe Trump will take Fla. Tex,Ohio, Fla.and NC again

I think that’s a good way to look at it. I read that if Biden wins PA, WI, MI he will be re-elected. No other swing states needed. (IIRC).

I have hope for NC though. They have a radical right wing MAGA running for Governor and that state is pretty purple, actually.

It's weird to see this happen so early if at all...

it wont happen trump will demand things and when not met bail. he is a coward at heart but it would be good if he did and started doing his mumbling and word loss dementia.

It's a huge risk for both candidates. Moreso for Biden IMO. If he gets crossed up, looks slow, or has a senior moment, the election could be over. But, if he has a strong showing, Biden could skyrocket in the polls. Crazy times.

To me the risk is much higher for Trump. He routinely says absolutely bonkers stuff. Like congratulating a fictional character, calling him the “late great” when he never died in any of the movies, and talking about water that drips out of faucets and toilets you have to flush 10 times, and saying he ran against Obama, calling Jimmy Carter Jimmy Connors, saying Jimmy Carter hates Biden, just too many to recite here.

Yeah. Trump might be most in trouble. Since the beginning, there's been no platform, no agenda. Now what happens when he gets questioned on just that?

I get your point and agree, but Trump has a skilled tongue. Last thing you want if your Biden and the Dems is for him to make some splash sound bites that resonate with the average American. Especially if Biden comes across as old and slow.

I'm hoping having them both on stage will give the American people the STARK CONTRAST in the two men (not even talking about policy!). How one is well mannered, Presidential, and has a moral compass and the other.......well, you know.

The best example of this in my lifetime was Ronald Reagan saying to Jimmy Carter "There you go again" after Carter
raised Reagans voting history concerning medicare.

I disagree.....Biden did very well in his last address to the nation, in fact, he killed it.....I expect him to me even more motivated in a debate with Trump.....and if you have listened to Trump lately he sounds like a desperate man who is slowly but steadily losing his mind.....

    Well said.

The address to the nation is 98% reading off a teleprompter. A debate would likely be more risky but the nation would benefit from seeing him and judging for themselves.

It should be that way for all debates.
The last debate between these two was a shouting match at times....the men talking over one another frequently. It was uncomfortable to watch. I was NOT going to watch them this time around but maybe with these new rules I'll take a look that night. Maybe.
