Frankly, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to the Critical Race Theory curriculum. What is it, where does it come from, and is it legitimate? Has anyone here read it and maybe give a quick summary?

If this has been covered in another thread, then I missed it.

Despite this abysmal academic performance, teachers and administrators at William Kelley have gradually abandoned traditional pedagogy in favor of political radicalism. Even the school’s newest public artworks illustrate this politicization. Administrators recently commissioned a mural of Davis and Huey P. Newton, who represent the Communist and Black Panther revolutionary movements of the 1960s; both figures stood trial for various crimes, including the murder of a police officer.

Unfortunately, the programs at William Kelley are no aberration. In recent years, the entire Philadelphia public school system has embraced the philosophy of “antiracism.” Last summer, the superintendent released an Antiracism Declaration promising to “[dismantle] systems of racial inequity” and circulated a memo recommending racially segregated training programs for white and black educators. The local teachers’ union produced a video denouncing the United States as a “settler colony built on white supremacy and capitalism” that has created a “system that lifts up white people over everyone else.” The solution, according to the union, is to overthrow the “racist structure of capitalism,” provide “reparations for Black and Indigenous people,” and “uproot white supremacy and plant the seeds for a new world.”

This would be a small sample of CRT in elementary schools.

I would assume that school districts that are run by nearly 100% black democrats would be all about anti-racism. However, in the rest of the nation things are likely to be more balanced.

My oldest gran daughter went to public school here in Montgomery County, MD and was taught some social justice and anti-racism. The family knows not to say anything that remotely resembles non-PC when she is around. She has a very low threshold for indignation.

It would be better if you could source local news. This is a Manhattan based very conservative think tank, not a local news site.

Would this be related to the fact that school systems run by activists and the democratic party for generations are failing on education but excelling in 'antiracism' and activism?
Education is not important for the younger generation, political activism (political power for the Dems) is the most important. What is the saying- when someone shows you who they are, believe them...

Did you read the actual statement of the Philadelphia schools superintendent that was linked in yiur article? It mentions combatting racism, and how destructive racism is to young children. It doesn’t mention teaching CRT, in fact it doesn’t mention CRT at all. It is a single page on the website devoted to combatting racism in a school system that is presumably mostly children of color.

Here is the same superintendent’s statement on the front page of the website:

‘Welcome to the School District of Philadelphia!

As the largest school district in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we strive to create strong learning environments that are supportive, vibrant and welcoming. Ultimately, we want to empower our students to be successful and engaged members of society for life beyond our schools.

If you’re curious about what’s going on in our schools or want to hear about our students’ successes, I encourage you to visit and follow us on social media! You’ll see students actively engaged in their own learning, teachers and counselors encouraging and supporting students, and school leadership empowering staff to be their best.

We will continue to do our best to keep you informed about all District happenings. As circumstances and news may change quickly, we encourage you to check our website regularly for timely insight on our pressing and urgent work as a District and follow me on Twitter @SDPHite.

    Sincerely,

    William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D.

    Superintendent, School District of Philadelphia’

Yes, he sure sounds like a radical, lol.

What about opposing racism is so wrong?

Oh goody, the tired old 'source' argument when there is not a logical argument. If you find this article is false or misleading, please let us know. Until then, you can google and do your own research if you doubt the article I posted.

Your article is definitely not “news reporting” but rather a screed from a “think tank” that’s dedicated to spreading the alarm about CRT. They say so right on their website.

I‘m sorry that you think this is a credible source and you‘re tired of having your crappy sources pointed out to you. Get better sources, and I’ll quit pointing out how crappy they are.

So, explain to me in your own words what is so objectionable about CRT then.

What about opposing racism is so wrong?
That would be a good argument and that is similar to saying "what is wrong with admitting Black lives matter?'

Nothing about either word jumble is incorrect on its face, it is the method. It is also a ploy to act as if the movement is common sense and benign. By combating racism, you are installing racism. It is counter productive and devastating to the generation they are trying to 'educate'. This form of activism is creating a victim and oppressor. This might be a good goal for political victories when your political platform is identity politics but it is not healthy for children and especially a free country and society.

For examples of identity politics, look no further than this board. Most are more worried about what group or box certain posters fit into than what they actually think or say. To me, it is a the tale tale sign of a weak mind.
To answer your question, nothing is wrong with opposing racism. That is why I am 100% against CRT in any form being taught in elementary or even high school.

I think for context, it would help if you also provided your opinion on Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

CRT isn’t being taught in primary schools. But the anti-anti-racists are busy banning books anyway.

So specifically where are the examples of it being taught? And how does pointing out where racism is found actually promote racism? That makes zero sense to me.

I think that white people would feel better if we could just talk about racism without mentioning race. Is that too much to ask?

Can we just say "some people did some things", instead of harping on who did the things, what the things were that they did, and who they did the things to?

The Tucker crowd wants to approach 200 years of systemic racism the same way that that Ilan Omar wanted to treat a few hours on 911, for which they all went ballistic.

Montgomery county public schools failing on education? Hardly, they are among the best public schools in the nation, with most of them having a 90%+ graduation rate and college readiness that is one of the highest in the country.

In a Democratic county and state, you could certainly complain about the high taxes here (I do!!!!), it is also one of the reasons the schools are so good, they invest in them.

    Some fact there!!!!!!

Nothing wrong! These days nearly everybody thinks racism is evil.
The issue is that sometimes anti-racism becomes a religion. And by definition religions tend to avoid logic and can become vehicles of oppression. The statement below sound very much like bible verses.

Like fighting an addiction, being an antiracist requires persistent self-awareness, constant self-criticism, and regular self-examination.

What’s the problem with being “not racist”? It is a claim that signifies neutrality: “I am not a racist, but neither am I aggressively against racism.” But there is no neutrality in the racism struggle. The opposite of “racist” isn’t “not racist.” It is “antiracist.

Still waiting on that proof of current systemic racism that everyone just states as fact.

What does that have to do with the supposed teaching of CRT in primary schools. Also you don’t supply a link or any context. So basically a troll. 🤪
