Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Do you understand that I am not able to live the fantasy? I will show compassion, but I could not buy into the fantasy.

I understand that you think it's a fantasy. You're wrong, though. Trans people exist.

"The suicide attempt rate among transgender persons ranges from 32% to 50% across the countries. Gender-based victimization, discrimination, bullying, violence, being rejected by the family, friends, and community; harassment by intimate partner, family members, police and public; discrimination and ill treatment at health-care system are the major risk factors that influence the suicidal behavior among transgender persons."

Being rejected by family, friends, and the community is among the major risk factors in suicidal behavior among the trans community, and you're on record as saying you would contribute to it with your own children. That's deeply forked up.

The attempt at suicide is much higher than among victims of slavery or Jews in Nazi Germany. The suicide attempts is likely due to mental turmoil related to feeling like a woman with a penis or feeling like a man with a vagina. That is very traumatic. The reduction is suicidal ideation following hormones, sex change surgery, and looking like the desired sex they want is quite small.

A large study in the Netherlands, a nation that is highly tolerant of the LGBTQIA+ people found the following:

"To conclude, in our clinic we observed no increase in suicide death risk over time and even a decrease over time in suicide death risk in trans women was found. Since the suicide risk in the transgender population is higher than the general population and seems to occur during every stage of transitioning, it is important that (mental) health practitioners pay attention to this risk and create a safe environment in which these feelings can be discussed at all stages of treatment and counseling. Further research is necessary to investigate the motives behind the suicides, as input in the development of adequate suicide prevention programs."

No, you would show courtesy. That is not the same as compassion. And it shows that you do not respect or value or esteem anyone who is in what you call "fantasy".

I can be incredibly accepting, compassionate, and tolerant. However, to expect people to accept the fantasy that a trans woman is the same as a biological woman is simply too much.

Call it fantasy, call it dysphoria, call it confusion, call it anything you want. I respect and have compassion for trans people. However, I am unable to drink the Kool Aid. A trans woman is not the same as a biological woman.

Do you have a special website you go to where you can search for articles that you think prove your point but only make you look foolish because they support the opposite of your point?

Also, for the record, rejecting the lives, stories, and experiences of those that experienced slavery and the holocaust first-hand would also be deeply forked up. That has nothing to do with the topic at hand, though.

Stop lying to yourself. You clearly don't, and that's fine. You can feel however you want. It doesn't exempt you from criticism, though.

    OK, your words not mine.

Do you believe a trans woman is like a biological woman? That is the concept I cannot buy.

    Why the qualifier?

The question should be "Do you believe a trans woman is like a woman?"

When you add "biological" or "genetic" woman it's specifically to get a "no" answer

It is quite clear that some people in the deep left or deep right feel compelled to accept all the tenets of the ideology. On the right the concept of anti-vax and on the left is the concept that a trans woman is no different than a biological woman. Each side of the spectrum requires that some subjects be accepted without questioning.

No. It's not quite clear. That's the running dialogue inside your head, not in the rest of the world.
