Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

That's unsettling, to say the least. Law enforcement needs to put out warnings and double up security for all PRIDE events this month. Sounds like there's a strong possibility for another Pulse night club shooting here in Texas. But given what we saw in Uvalde, I have no faith in them protecting the population of this state.

Is that the same guy that said on video that he sabotaged Iraqi soldiers weapons during the gulf war?
Yeah, he seems to be fair and balanced.

I also bet the black LGTBQ community will be hurt more than most.

At this point, we have one new religion trying to over throw the 'old' religion.

People are going to end up getting killed over this rhetoric
    ================

In Idaho, police recently found 31 members of a white supremacist group packed into the back of a U-Haul truck, apparently on their way to an LGBTQ+ pride event in the town of Coeur d’Alene.

Further west, a crew of Proud Boys interrupted a drag queen event in California, intimidating parents and children and screaming transphobic and homophobic insults. In Texas, a state plagued by anti-trans politics, a group of rightwingers screamed abuse and threatened attendees at an adults-only drag brunch.

The incidents, which led to multiple arrests, took place over just one weekend. It was a concentration of anti-LGBTQ+ hate in America that came as a shock to some – but not to the advocates and groups who have been warning of an alarming rise in anti-trans and gay speech over the past year, especially from the far right…..

He's right, though, that is what God teaches.. no bullets back then, though..

“If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."

FINA finally came to their senses. Let's see if other sports organizations follow suit.

"Swimming’s world governing body, FINA, announced Sunday that it voted to restrict transgender athletes from competing in elite women’s events.

The policy, which goes into effect Monday, requires transgender swimmers to have completed their transition by 12 years old to compete in women’s competitions and to maintain their circulating testosterone below the levels of 2.5 nanomoles per liter. "

Proud Boys crash a Pride event at a local library
    =================================
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Pine Valley Library was hosting a pride story time event on Tuesday evening when a group of Proud Boys, far-right extremists, showed up outside of the event room.

Emily Jones was there with her 1-year-old daughter, and she says she attends the story time events often at the library.

“I had been talking about it for weeks. I was so happy that the library was having this inclusive environment for us. And it was very disappointing. It was so disappointing to see it unfold the way that it did,” Jones said.

She was particularly excited about this one, but her excitement quickly turned into panic.

“I get it’s a public space, so if people are holding signs outside and they are being peaceful, even if I don’t agree with the things that they are saying, I don’t feel necessarily like my life is in danger. But when a group of known violent people, you know, at that point when those people show up and they’re coming into the library and trying to disrupt the story time. That’s when I felt unsafe and that’s where I felt it was not held appropriately,” Jones said. “And they’re doing that on purpose for sure to intimidate people.”

For context, Jones arrived at the library around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, and story time stared at 5:30 p.m. Jones said she only saw a handful of peaceful protestors outside, but not any Proud Boys.

“They were dressed, what I would describe as like, normally,” Jones said. “I didn’t feel threatened by their attire, they were holding signs that said things like, the library is responsible for child abuse, and keep pornography out of our libraries.”

About 45 minutes later, things changed............

Last year, Cascade Elementary School got its first LGBTQ student club.
The middle and high schools in Marysville, Wash., a conservative slice of the state, had long offered Gay-Straight Alliance, or GSA, clubs.

But fourth- and fifth-graders said they wanted one, too, so the school board approved a pilot program establishing “Safe Place” clubs at three elementary campuses. A flier, released in January, promised “a welcoming, judgment free space.”

“We are accepting of all identities and will encourage students to fully express their individuality,” it said.

“And so it begins,” warned a post just hours later on the neighborhood app Nextdoor. It included a picture of the flier and listed the name and email of Cascade’s principal. “Hang on folks, we are in for a ride you don’t want your kids on,” wrote the author of the message, who could not be reached for comment.

The post set off a wave of parent anger and rumors that Safe Place club advisers including Melissa Panico, a teacher who has LGBTQ children, would “indoctrinate” students, Panico said.

Cascade’s principal said she began receiving angry calls at work, some from people who admitted, when she asked, that they had no children at the school.

A few months later, the school board proposed an unprecedented policy: Parental consent would be required for all non-curriculum student groups.

This immediately raised fears, Panico said, that LGBTQ kids in unsupportive homes would be “outed” to their families.

The controversy in Marysville is part of a burgeoning nationwide opposition to GSA club activities and, in some places, their existence. These groups have been common and accepted in schools for two decades, offering a place for LGBTQ students and allies to gather.

But now, some conservative parents, pundits and politicians are alleging without presenting evidence that GSA clubs are sites of political indoctrination, where students are encouraged to assume LGBTQ identities without their parents’ knowledge…….
