Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

I don't trust the lot of them! Until someone from the Republican Party can muster up the courage to be honest with their ill informed electorate, none of them are worthy of being POTUS.
Yeah that would be Chris Christie and we all know he has no chance. What did he tell the Trump crowd a day or two ago "your anger towards the truth is reprehensible."

The rest are just Trump-light or lacking any semblance of courage.

Split Schmidt, it's hot air until the "real" Republicans start voting Democrat to keep the loons out of office. Until then it's just impotent whining.

The Iowa governor, Kim Reynolds, broke her neutrality in the Republican primary and endorsed Ron DeSantis for president on Monday, saying she does not believe Donald Trump can win the general election.

“I believe he can’t win,” Reynolds said in an interview with NBC. “And I believe that Ron can.”

The endorsement gives DeSantis the support of a deeply popular governor (she has an 81% approval rating among likely caucus-goers, according to a Des Moines Register/NBC poll). It also gives him fuel as he tries to close a significant gap with the former president in polling, both in Iowa and across the US. Trump is currently polling at 45.6% in Iowa, according to the FiveThirtyEight average of polls, while DeSantis is at 17.1%. The Florida governor is also trying to break away from Nikki Haley, with whom he is battling for second place in the race.…….

Why are pro Trump Republicans posing with guns? I don’t think Trump even knows how to shoot a gun. I don’t think he was a great 2nd amendment proponent.

if a democrat told him to point the end with a hole at something he would point it at himself and shoot himself.

Her belief is irrelevant. DeathSantis lacks charisma (not needed to govern but to be elected), intelligence, core principles and any semblance of being relatable to anything but a small group of voters.

good read and I get it, as many of us here can
    ===============================

I have it again: election anxiety. Not about the local contests that took place around the country this week.

No, I am panicked about the national election, the one taking place about a year from now. I’m already checking polls for updates, hoping to find one that can tell me everything is going to be okay. And I’m not finding much to work with. Hence, my anxiety.

For now, I expect the worst. How can it be otherwise when seemingly every news story tells me that Donald Trump is shaping up to beat Joe Biden in 2024? When Black voters, one of Biden’s bedrocks, are reportedly fleeing the Democratic Party? If that’s right, this country will never be the same. If that’s right, how could I not be anxious?

“Anxious” doesn’t really describe it: It’s more like a visceral fear, one that speeds the heart rate, dilates the pupils and quickens the breathing. I quickly imagine a dystopian future where the right wing gets absolutely everything it wants. And I know where a person like me would end up in their ideal world: With no rights and no quality of life.

When the New York Times looks at a handful of key states and reports that Biden could lose to Trump, barring some major course correction, I spin out. When The Post reports that Trump plans to seek revenge in his second term on people who stopped him from doing what he wanted in his first term, I start to ponder my exit strategy. I wonder where I could move should such a thing happen and how I could afford to do so.

I wonder why some of my fellow Black Americans can’t see what I can see plainly. I wonder why a man with Trump’s record appeals to them. Why can’t they see the work of prosecutors Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg and Letitia James as noble efforts to hold the wealthiest and most powerful among us accountable? I can’t imagine why these voters think they will be better off under Trump than Biden.

I wonder why young people are turning to Trump when, as far as I can see, the kind of future he offers them runs counter to what they say they want. Toward a party whose main political goal appears to be religious tyranny. Toward those who don’t seem to be able to tell us exactly what they want, only what they think other people shouldn’t have. And make miserable the lives of the people they don’t like or whose bodies they seek to control.

These are big topics to tackle alone at home in the dim light of a laptop. I start to scan the online news sites for articles that support the idea that Trump could never win. I can’t find them anywhere. Then, I spin out some more, because I can’t understand what those who support him are thinking. I can’t fathom the vitriol that drives them.

I know there are many people — millions, certainly — like me, clicking and scrounging, looking for some semblance of hope. And who will look again tonight and look again tomorrow. If they are like me, this need will become a vicious loop: When I try to “unplug,” it can feel as though I’m not doing my duty. That I’m not staying properly involved or informed, or that I’m somehow drifting into the cozy apathy of apoliticism.

So, I plunge back in, stuck in this fight-or-flight cycle in which the weight of the world can sometimes feel overwhelming. I know my mental health is starting to suffer a tiny bit — just like it did four years ago when we all stood on the precipice of national ruin...........

I think the reason so many Republicans endorse Trump is because homie just says the most wild stuff and doesn't give a crap about it. Everyone has to walk on egg shells today as a public figure and he just lets it rip. He's the guy who isn't afraid to tell some delusional woman who thinks she's a 10 that she needs to lose 150lbs and says it without even blinking an eye.

He also has that nutty factor, you're not voting for him because you think his policies are great. You pull a lever down for him because he's so unpredictable that world leaders don't wanna find out. If he tells you, "Hey, don't do that or I'm gonna bomb you." Chances are great that if you do that, he's gonna bomb you.

And I think if voters are voting for trump because of those listed reasons are idiots! I wouldn't select someone that possess those characteristics to take out my garbage. Why anyone would choose him to a position that require high intellect, the ability to comprehend complex situations and exceptional communication skills is dumbfounding.

Nikki Haley is known for a lot of firsts — the first Asian American woman to serve as governor in US history, the first Indian American member of a presidential Cabinet, the first woman of colour to run for the GOP nomination — but will she become the first woman to serve as US president?

    Few think so.

On paper, Ms Haley is arguably the ideal GOP candidate. She boasts impressive foreign policy experience amid the bloody conflict in Ukraine and the war between Israel and Hamas. She is the only woman in the race, giving her a sophisticated position to discuss reproductive rights as Republicans struggle to appeal to voters following the demise of Roe v Wade.

Still, the 51-year-old can’t seem to catch up to Mr Trump. Ms Haley’s candidacy demonstrates a larger problem with the 2024 Republican race — no one can touch him.

However, some have argued that her path to the White House isn’t as far-reaching as it once was, as her star has risen in recent weeks. As of the beginning of November, she is tied with rival candidate Florida Gov Ron DeSantis for the spot trailing the prominent frontrunner.

Ms Haley has long been an advocate for traditional conservative talking points. But it seems like now in particular, as Mr Trump’s base remains firm and the rest of the party searches for an alternative to the flamboyant, frequent defendant former president, her campaign is gaining traction.

She is wary of gun restrictions; while discussing red flag laws in the first GOP debate, she said she didn’t trust that the government “won’t take [guns] away from people who rightfully deserve to have them.”…….
