Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

He sprayed "groomer" on libraries around DC. Guess what cops found when he was arrested

olice arrested Sutherland last June after surveillance video caught him spray painting the word”groomer” onto the front doors of public libraries in the Maryland towns of New Carrollton and Greenbel. The libraries had hosted events associated with nearby Washington D.C.’s Pride week, including a drag queen story hour. Sutherland admitted to the crimes and faced two counts of malicious destruction of property and multiple hate crimes for his efforts.
When police took him into custody, Sutherland reportedly agreed to let police search his home. In addition to finding images of child pornography on his computer, something Sutherland admitted to, “Police also found diapers and dolls around his apartment, including a child-sized doll in his bed,” WTOP reported.

A Vermont school that refused to play against an opposing basketball team with a trans player won’t be able to participate in future tournaments, the Vermont Principals’ Association announced on Monday.

Mid Vermont Christian School forfeited a game on 21 February in an out-of-state tournament against Long Trail school.

“We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players,” MCVS head of school Vicky Fogg said in a statement obtained by the Guardian. “Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general.”

The Vermont Principals’ Association, an organization that sponsors various school sport activities, ruled that the MCVS had violated its policies and will be ineligible to participate in future tournaments that it sanctions. The move applies to all sports.

“The VPA again reiterates its ongoing support of transgender student-athletes as not only a part of building an inclusive community for each student to grow and thrive, but also as a clear expectation by Vermont state law(s) in the Agency of Education Best Practices, and in VPA Policy regarding transgender student athletes,” the association said in a statement…….

I bet if you technically go by his standards against Drag shows, Hooters and Twin Peaks would be banned.. but we all know that'll never happen. Most Twin Peaks and Hooters waitresses are very courteous, straight and narrow, but i've seen a few who will act pretty inapproriate for tips. Its ok to expose kids as long as its women in bikinis and tank tops being inappropriate, but a man in a dress?? NO WAY!!!

And can ayone explain to me how a Drag Show is associated with being "Woke"? i just don't understand the parallel..

and people wonder why other people vote Republican.

I looked a bit trying to find a picture of the player, but didn't find one. Forfeiting the game should have been enough, but completely banning the school of any type of future sports participation, that's too much.

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont religious school that withdrew its girls’ basketball team from a playoff game because a transgender student was playing on the opposing team won’t be able to participate in future tournaments, the Vermont Principals’ Association announced Monday.

Mid Vermont Christian School, in White River Junction, Vermont, forfeited the Feb. 21 game, saying that it believed that the transgender player “jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players.”

The executive council of the principals’ association, which is the governing body for Vermont school sports and activities for member schools, ruled that the school had violated policies and is ineligible to participate in future tournaments that it sanctions. The move applies to all sports.

Kid sin Kentucky feel the same way about LGBT issues that kids in California felt 20 years ago.

Parents in rural red areas need to accept they have already lost the culture war and stop making fools out of themselves.

Parents in rural red areas ALWAYS lose the culture war. Time is always on the other side.

Oh, well. That makes it all better ...

The school was banned from all tournaments in all sports. That very harsh and very unfair to the players, the majority who don't even have anything to do with the female basketball team. Offhand, I don't know how many schools are affiliated with the Vermont's Principals Association, and how it affects the school as far as being able to play against other schools, but again, this is a harsh, unfair ruling that is negatively going to impact others who have nothing to do with the event. Forfeiting the game should've been enough.

Big difference from what you claimed.

If they want to play in future Vermont's Principals Association tournaments they can change their tune. It's that simple. Why should Vermont's Principals Association allow schools to participate in their tournaments that wouldn't play by their rules? They shouldn't, obviously.

It's not a big difference, if they don't have any other schools they can compete against.

Who says they are not playing by the rules? Where in the rule book says they cannot forfeit a game lest they be banned from all tournaments in all sports?

So you obviously have seen the rule book?
i would bet somewhere in the rulebook it says the association can make that call.
A quick reading of the article states
the executive council of the principals’ association, which is the governing body for Vermont school sports and activities for member schools, ruled that the school had violated policies and is ineligible to participate in future tournaments that it sanctions. The move applies to all sports.
It sent a letter to the school saying that Mid Vermont did not meet the association’s policies on race, gender and disability awareness.

The school did not respond to an email requesting comment.
So according to the association, they were not playing by the rules.

So an article mentions a transgender teen, and you're straight to googling for pictures for them, but it mentions specific rules, and what? You forget how to search for things?

They're right here: https://vpaonline.org/vpa-athletics/ - see the link to 'High School Policies'. And they clearly have policies against discrimination, as well as a policy on not cancelling games "except by mutual consent of the principals concerned or their designees, or by procedures approved by a league", and it clearly states sanctions for violations of the policies "include, but are not limited to, warnings, forfeitures, prohibitions from competitions, suspension, the expulsion of membership, and individual bans or suspensions."

So you obviously have seen the rule book?
I have not seen their rule book, no. But I have never seen any rule book that says you get banned from all tournaments in all sports because you forfeit a game. Have you?

And what policy is that? What rule was broken?

The school forfeited a single game in a single sport over a safety concern claim. For starters, the first thing that needed to be determined is whether the claim had merit, ( and maybe I missed it ) but I don't see where anyone proved or disproved the claim, or even reviewed the claim. They went straight to punishing all teams in all sports for what exactly? What I am getting from the articles, is the VPA basically saying "you must play against transgenders no matter what, or be banned altogether".

its not that they forfited the game, it was for the SPECIFIC reason they forfited the game.
