    Frankly, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to the Critical Race Theory curriculum. What is it, where does it come from, and is it legitimate? Has anyone here read it and maybe give a quick summary?

    If this has been covered in another thread, then I missed it.

    What's the basis for this conclusion?
    The human condition. It would be racist to assume only white people oppress others. I think ALL humans have the capacity to oppress regardless of ethnicity. I am judging humanity as a whole. However, I could be wrong and maybe only whites like to practice racism and oppression. What do you think?

    I think those traditionally oppressed would probably have greater empathy. But, for an alternate take... there's always this little known 'gem' from the 90's:

    I agree, but when white people become a minority they will be victimized. That is why they re running scared.

    They won’t be, but that’s what they are afraid of.

    When you loose privilege, it can make you feel victimized.

    ======================

    You know why

    You know EXACTLY why

    it's the same reason the China Flu is racist

    because it's used to excuse and encourage racist behavior and opinions

    The 13% is a population version of "might makes right"

    They're ONLY 13%. Who cares what they think?

    They're ONLY 13%. Who cares what they want?

    We can treat them however we want. They're ONLY 13%, What can they do about it?

    Why are we changing all these rules, laws, attitudes and mindsets for ONLY 13%

    The problem with this attitude?

    The year 2044. That's the year when according to the Census Bureau the United States of America will become a majority minority country

    White people will still be the single most populous race but all other races combined will be more than 50%

    When you hear "they're taking our country" that's what they're talking about, that's what they're worried about, that's what they're terrified about

    But what they are most terrified about, is being treated like they've treated everyone else

    When the attitude is "Might makes right", and you've been wielding that hammer for centuries and you lose your "might" you're scared just waiting for the hammer blow

    So you think they will lose the privilege? I always thought privilege was a another manner to describe in group preference which is a form of racism if others are excluded.

    Shockingly, we’ve discovered something you misunderstand.

    Frankly, I don't know much about the meaning of privilege in America. As an immigrant I felt it was in group preference and I accepted that. It was the benefit of being a member of the majority. However, I also noted that those that practiced in group preference would welcome others if they were like minded. It is basically a club where the people recognize each other as members of the same tribe. I suspect all ethnic groups do it.

    You seem to have a large number of strong opinions on topics you fail to understand. The arrogance is staggering.

    CM: I have asked you to enlighten me many times, but all you do is provide negative critique. I am not a native speaker of English and I miss the nuance of many idiomatic expressions. I found this definition:

    "White privileges are the relative advantages racism affords to people identified as white, whether white people recognize them or deny them. To be white is to be afforded one's individuality. Afforded the presumption of innocence. Afforded the assumption of intelligence. Afforded empathy when crying or raging. Afforded disproportionate amounts of policy-making power. Afforded opportunity from a white network. Afforded wealth-building homes and resource-rich schools. Afforded the ability to vote quickly and easily."— Ibram X. Kendi

    Sounds like in group preference. The benefit of membership in a large majority group. I can see how non-members are screwed. I have experienced that.

    So, do you think, in this context, it is important for white people to secure the existence of their people and a future for white children?

    I did not say that Bran. As a general rule parents like to do well for their children. There is usually DNA kinship. Outside immediate family this tends to disappear. Unless there is a powerful unifying force. For example the Amish help each other.

    Let me ask a question: Do you think the only group in world history with a tendency to oppress are the Europeans?

    I have been there many times. The visitors are 99% white and many are from places like Germany. When I was there the guide referred to the issue of slaves and there was not a single problem. However, that was years ago when the nation was less tribal polarized. What a shame!

    This is probably why (from the article)
    ===========================
    There was a time when visitors “would not have heard the word ‘slave’ in this house,” David Ronka said early on in a 105-minute dive into the lives of the best-known enslaved family at Monticello, the Hemingses.

    Visitors might have heard references to “Mr. Jefferson’s people,” said the veteran guide. Or maybe “the souls of his family,” a phrase from the author of the Declaration of Independence who owned more than 600 enslaved people over his lifetime...........

    Visitor reviews of Monticello on travel site TripAdvisor are overwhelmingly positive. But the negative comments are increasingly likely to blast the amount of time devoted to slavery, decrying “political correctness” and the bashing of a giant of American history. Two years ago, only a couple of the poor reviews mentioned slavery. This year, almost all of them do........

    Some people may see an agenda in just the mention of slavery. One August visitor to Mount Vernon was happy to chat with a Washington Post reporter about his day at the estate — until he learned he would be asked about the site’s approach to the people Washington owned.

    “I don’t want to politicize my experience here,” the man, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said from a sunny bench in Washington’s flower gardens........

    ===========================================

    If talked about at all, it was mentioned in passing and in a very sanitized way. A way specifically designed for there not to be a single problem

    I've tried. We have a long private conversation that speaks to this.

    However, none of this has to do with what I said. You admit that you "don't know much about the meaning of privilege in America" (your words). This isn't the first time you have offered strong opinions on something that you later admit to not knowing much about. It's incredibly egotistical to think that your uninformed opinions carry the same weight as those offered by people who are informed on the subject. At some point, people that are relatively ignorant on a subject need to sit down and shut up in the hopes that they will learn something.
