If the Nov. 2024 ballot was DNC President Biden and GOP Donald Trump, I would certainly avoid both of them and look for another candidate.
I just came across an online article that Senator Joe Manchin is CONSIDERING becoming a 3rd Party candidate.

Naturally his fellow Democrats would not like that.
#1 West Virginia would possibly elect a Republican to be their next Senator
#2 Manchin wouldn't win the presidency and he'd pull more votes from Biden than he would from Trump.

I'd CONSIDER voting for Manchin. IF he ran...AND the media gave him any "air time", then I think he'd make things interesting. :sneaky:
Historically, Most 3rd Party Candidates were names that MOST "regular folks" never heard of. Ross Perrot was an exception.
But again, my point is that most 3rd party candidates have received such a small number of votes because no one knew them and everyone knew they had no chance.
Senator Joe Manchin DOES have name recognition going for him.
When Biden's term began, I think there was some publication that called Joe Manchin: "The Most Powerful Man In Washington". An exaggeration of course, but he often "held the keys" to IF a Biden backed bill passed or it didn't.
Anyway, what say you about anything I've posted here?

If he runs, he’s actually helping elect Trump. He has to know that. All that other stuff is just cheap talk.
You responded so fast. 2 minutes later.
Anyway, He PROBABLY is not going to run and he said he would NOT vote for Trump.
Those are the main takeaways for me.

CNN) — Sen. Joe Manchin says he “absolutely” can see himself as president.

Privately, the West Virginia Democrat has told people that a Joe Biden health scare or a Donald Trump conviction could give him an opening to run as an independent this year.

In public, during stops in states such as New Hampshire, South Carolina and Georgia, Manchin says he believes there’s a role for him as a national icon in the “fiscally responsible and socially compassionate” middle, comparable with the role Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders plays for the progressive left.

If Manchin runs, he would want to do so using state ballot lines being secured by No Labels, a bipartisan group that has asserted itself as the answer for a political moment in which voters keep telling pollsters they don’t want a Biden-Trump rematch and are exhausted by the political tribalism.

The group has set a mid-March deadline to decide whether to back a presidential “unity ticket,” but with about a month and half to go and amid internal turmoil, multiple top No Labels leaders tell CNN they remain in the dark about the path forward.

Meanwhile, three years of exhaustion at Manchin upending Biden’s agenda has left the president and top aides keeping their distance, trying to sound out what he’s up to without risking riling him up by going to him directly. They hope Manchin will ultimately decide on his own against an independent run.

But they know that a Democratic senator traveling the county warning that Biden has been pulled too far to the political left would be a problem, particularly as the president and his aides try to stitch back their 2020 coalition that ranged from Sanders supporters to anti-Trump Republicans.

Manchin is hoping to get a meeting with Biden to urge the president to change the way he’s campaigning – for example, to focus more on how inflation declined after the more fiscally constrained Inflation Reduction Act that he forced Biden to retrench; or to talk less about climate change and more about energy security…….

The last paragraph is very interesting. I'd like to be a fly on the wall in a potential one on one substantive conversation between Sen Manchin and President Biden.

Manchin is an ego maniac. Nobody wants to see him as president.

    "Nobody" might be an exaggeration.
There was a Democratic woman candidate in New Hampshire that only received a handful of votes because Biden was not on the ballot, but Biden received numerous write in votes. SHE would be a better example of someone ALMOST nobody would vote for.
Yup...this Democrat woman candidate wasn't referenced by the tv talking heads.
I think if Manchin was a declared candidate he would receive a larger portion of votes than that woman.....AND I think the talking heads WOULD mention Manchin,

Okay, almost nobody, lol. Manchin is not popular at all among Democrats.

Thanks for your response. I went back and edited my post a tad. I didn't change my point...I just made it clearer and deleted an "s" in one word.

A somewhat cynical take on Manchin, but one I tend to agree with.

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) announced Friday that he will not run for president after months of flirting with a campaign that could have complicated the 2024 race for the White House.

Manchin said during a speech in West Virginia he “will not be involved in a presidential run” as he continues to focus on other ways to bring a divided country together.

He also said he did not want to play the role of a spoiler as President Biden nears a likely rematch with former president Donald Trump……

CNN) — Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a longtime Democrat, announced on Friday that he is registering as an independent.

“Our national politics are broken and neither party is willing to compromise to find common ground,” Manchin, who has long been a pivotal swing vote in the Senate, said in a statement. “To stay true to myself and remain committed to put country before party, I have decided to register as an independent with no party affiliation and continue to fight for America’s sensible majority.”…….

    Yawn..."both sides" BS
“Our national politics are broken and neither party is willing to compromise to find common ground,”
I need PROVEN examples of Democratic leaders unwillingness to work with Republicans. For him to equate the Democratic Party to the Republican Party is just cowardly pandering to his constituents instead of addressing the truth behind the gridlock.

This is such a bullshirt lie by Manchin. Democrats have consistently shown and proven that they are willing to work with Republicans and compromise to achieve goals that they feel are important, that are important to government functioning and that they think they can find some common ground in with Republicans. Even the most progressive Democrats.

Republicans are the only ones who are pure obstructionist and chaos agents.

Too bad he did not register as a CANDIDATE I could vote for this November. If Manchin had done so, instead of my current plan....which is to NOT vote for ANY Presidential candidate and simply focus down ballot....instead of that, IF Manchin had run as a Presidential Candidate I would surely have given him my vote.

Tradional equivalence arguments from the Fool’d Ya crowd.😳

I wonder if Joe Manchin knew 5 months ago that much of America would lose faith in Biden....with that knowledge, would he actually have chosen to run as an independent?
Obviously, I sure wish he had.
It would be interesting to see a poll that could be trusted.
Hey voters, tomorrow you have to vote...
    Your choices are :
    Biden
    Trump
    Manchin

Maybe Manchin would have a chance????

Those who posted laughing emojis or facepalm emojis should reflect on the fact that many people are currently laughing at numerous Biden memes, articles and videos. Many people think that today's Joe Biden (in July of 2024) he is perfect material for cruel jokes. THOSE people would probably look upon my post as being interesting speculation and not something to react to with face palm or laughing emojis.
I don't think Joe Manchin debating Trump would have caused such ridicule....or even any ridicule. Joe Manchin is a confident talker and a dignified man.

I've come back to my post because the more I think about it.....comparing Biden and Manchin....if they were together on a split screen debate for 90 minutes, anyone who would prefer Biden to Manchin....well THAT person would be someone worthy of laughing emojis and facepalm emojis!
