It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

A 23-year-old electrician from Brentwood is speaking out after a disturbing encounter with federal immigration agents left him handcuffed and shaken, despite being a U.S. citizen.

Elzon Lemus says he was on the job, driving in a work van with his co-worker in Westbury when they were pulled over by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The incident was recorded on Lemus’ phone.

“What’s up, guys? Can I see your ID, please?” an agent asks in the video.

When Lemus questions why they’re being stopped, the agent replies vaguely, "Cause you look like someone I’m looking for. Can I see your ID?"

Lemus continues, “Who are you looking for exactly? Because it’s definitely not me.”

The agent then warns him, “This is going to go one of two ways here. I need to see your ID — if you’re not the guy I’m looking for, you’re not the guy I’m looking for. But we need your ID.”

When Lemus continues to question why he’s being stopped the agent escalates and says "If we don’t get your ID we are going to need to figure out another way to ID you and that may not work out well for you."

At that point, the ICE agent forcefully opens the van door and tells Lemus to stop recording him.

"I felt like my rights were just out the window,” Lemus recalled during an interview. "It felt like I couldn’t do much now."

Lemus was pulled out of the van, placed in handcuffs, and detained for about 25 minutes while the agent searched him. When they finally found his ID confirming his citizenship, the agents let him go — without offering any explanation or apology. Lemus also asked them for their names and badge numbers and they refused.

“Without saying anything, they just left,” Lemus said. “They were pretty upset because they couldn’t take us — me and my coworker — we were fine.”

The incident comes amid increased ICE enforcement efforts across the country, but civil rights experts say this stop may have violated constitutional protections.

“They can’t randomly, on a hunch, stop people,” said Fred Brewington, a civil rights attorney representing Lemus. “That’s contrary to the Constitution.”

Brewington argues this was a clear case of racial profiling.………

TACO does what TACO does. so predictable.

It also points out how much of the LA stuff is just political. Why isn't ICE raiding all those central valley farms?

Why is ICE arresting brown tourist in big cities, and union leaders?

Who exactly are they getting tough on? It's obviously not "all" illegal immigrants.

I truly think conseratives don't understand the world they live in.

I just explained this with video confirmed straight from Dear Leader's mouth.. I doubt Joe, or Sendai get it even now.

I'll edit to add: Sendai pointed out in this thread that border crossing's are down. What he didn't mention is ALL border crossing's are down. Tourism is seeing a 8-10% decrease because no one wants to come to this country right now.

    This is winning to them.

Bolding mine - "This is exactly what Stephen Miller says!" isn't the best defense
    =====================================================

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security posted a striking graphic on its official X account. Uncle Sam, a symbol of American patriotism, is depicted nailing a poster to a wall that reads, “Help your country… and yourself.” Written underneath the poster is the sentence, “REPORT ALL FOREIGN INVADERS,” and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement hot line.

The post — which DHS and the White House also posted to Instagram — prompted a flood of criticism, with some social media users comparing the post to authoritarian propaganda. On Thursday, at least two far-right X accounts claimed to have a hand in creating or disseminating the image before it was shared by DHS. A source within DHS told CNN the agency did not create the graphic.

The DHS’s Uncle Sam post has more than 81,000 likes and comes as immigration protests roil Los Angeles and other cities around the country, amid a deportation crackdown by President Donald Trump and DHS. And it marks an escalation in the agency’s communication strategy, after weeks of using social media to attack or mock perceived enemies, promote ICE arrests and ridicule media reports it disagrees with.

In another recent post, DHS responded to a comment appearing to question a popular X user’s immigration status with a meme of a character with magnifying glasses.

In May, DHS also said it was reviewing a reality TV show pitch where immigrants would compete for US citizenship, which an agency spokesperson said at the time was in the early stages of vetting and had not yet been approved or denied. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem later told a Senate committee that she had “no knowledge” of a reality show plan.

The Uncle Sam graphic is reminiscent of media used previously by other governments to provoke fear, especially of immigrants, said Elisabeth Fondren, a journalism professor at St. John’s University who has studied government propaganda and communications during war times.

“This poster fits within a long history of anti-immigrant rhetoric and, yes, state propaganda,” Fondren said. “It evokes these remnants of Cold War, fake propaganda by the Russians, or, you know, authoritarian fear mongering messages … but what I think is so interesting is that this is a call to action in an environment where we’re not in a war.”

In defending the Uncle Sam post, the agency told CNN that it aligns with terminology used by other officials in the executive branch. DHS pointed CNN to a number of posts from White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller using terms like “invade” or “invaders” when referring to undocumented immigrants...............

DHS’s provocative social media strategy has led to a rapidly growing audience. Engagement with the DHS account has grown significantly since Trump took office; it’s second only to the White House in online engagement among US government accounts, the agency said.

DHS communication officials have in recent days frequently posted videos from the LA protests that it says indicate the demonstrations are not peaceful and highlight law enforcement efforts to quell disorder.

The demonstrations have impacted a relatively small area of the city, mostly in a section of downtown LA, where largely peaceful daytime protests have been giving way to volatile, occasionally violent scenes each night that have resulted in hundreds of arrests. The curfew zone is about one square mile, in a city that covers more than 450 square miles.

The agency’s posts come as random and anonymous users on platforms like X and TikTok have also shared old and sometimes completely fake content about the unrest, projecting an image of chaos, often in an apparent attempt to juice their own engagement.

The agency has also posted names, photos and alleged charges of people it has arrested as justification for ICE’s operations in Los Angeles. And on Wednesday, DHS shared a post on X that said: “Liberals don’t know things.”..........

People who come to this country as legal immigrants and go thru the system have records which LEO can access. Folks who were born here can get birth certificates. Is it perfect? No. Is the process error free? No. So let’s improve the process. What is your solution? Do nothing?

Pass bipartisan immigration reform. You know, the thing we had in place until Trump told GOP congresspeople to tank it. So let's make a deal, you and me. Let's agree to vote against people who tanked the legislation and vote for people who didn't tank it. Deal?

It's 6 minutes long, I listened to it for 6 minutes, I would recommend all 6 minutes.

I will agree to vote for people who work for good immigration policy. I won’t agree to vote for people who support unsound immigration policy.

Our borders have never been “out of control”. It’s a shirtty process, and that is Congress’ fault, but there has always been a process. It’s never been “open” or “lawless”. This is the GOP propaganda we keep pointing out to you.

The border wasn’t open under Obama or under Biden. Trump saw roughly the same number of migrants in his first term (with the exception of Covid) as the other two. The excess that Biden saw during the first part of his term was mostly a buildup that was stymied under Covid. By the end of Biden’s term, he had fewer illegal crossings than Trump ever did, IIRC. Because he set about to fix it and worked on it during his entire term. They did a few things in Central America that helped. The bipartisan bill was the end of the process - until Trump blew it up.

Nobody is whining. Pointing out the facts and being dismayed about GOP hypocrisy and your willingness to believe their lies isn’t whining.

Tell me this: how is arresting and deporting farm workers, cooks and busboys helping our border situation right now? What is being accomplished by these draconian arrests and ignoring due process?
    This says otherwise

And as far as I’m concerned you destroy your credibility when you pretend Biden’s border policies or lack thereof had nothing to do at all with the hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants that flooded this country during his administration.
I didn't say anything about anyone's border policies, let alone Biden's, so why did you quote my post?

ICE needs to be made insanely uncomfortable everywhere they exist. Cameras in their faces at all times. Blocked at every juncture. They need to viscerally hate being apart of that goon squad.

If not, I believe this will cement normalization of a true military police state in our country. Hell, it may even be too late already.

It can and will happen if folks don’t speak up and get out there.

We've past that point decades ago and the thanks should go to our fellow citizens. The 4th Amendment is not even an afterthought and there's a very vocal part of our country that believe in compliance more than their freedom.
