This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

So, what is it about the tax exemption for churches? Is is true that they are supposed to refrain from telling people how to vote? I’ve heard that my whole life, maybe it’s a myth? Or is this just one more convention that conservatives are trashing in their panic?

Being a former minister myself, if a specific church is expressing a political position and telling congregants to vote for a particular candidate, they absolutely should lose their tax-exempt status. Precisely why I never did that when I was a minister. I only told people to go vote and vote their conscience. Unfortunately, as in this example, too many ministers don't do this.

I'm not really a fan of churches being tax exempt to begin with though.

Thank goodness. There are already enough bat guano members in the House.

You don't hear much about conservative comics... not because they are being cancelled but because they are usually not funny. Tim Allen is the only one I can think of that is entertaining and had a successful career.

    Not sure Tim Allen counts

As far as I know he’s never done political comedy

Poor Maddie Cawthorn lost his primary. I hope someone is guarding the trees.

Yeah, from this list of Conservative Comedians, I can’t recall many of them doing political comedy. Dennis Miller, and perhaps Colin Quinn (both SNL alum) did, but the rest, I can’t recall politics being their go to.

I’m glad Cawthorn is gone but too many Trump backed candidates are winning

I thought @SteveSBrickNJ promised that the silent majority would rise up and whole heartedly reject Trump, reject the big lie and reject Trumpism
How many Trump backed candidates are running (and winning)? That’s an honest question because I haven’t been paying attention.

Now John Fettermen, I could vote for that man as the 47th President of the United States.

The Trump endorsement of Mastriano (sp?) in PA shouldn’t really count as having any influence. He was the front-runner and Trump only endorsed him this last Saturday - so 3 days before. Oz is just barely ahead, and may not win. Cawthorn lost, thank goodness. He should have never been elected to begin with, but he still lost even though Trump made a last minute appeal. I was glad to see the loon in ID lost. The problem is that in some cases there aren’t any “normal” R candidates, like the OH R Senate race that was decided a week ago or so. The Republicans still have a lot of work to do in order to get rid of the Trump stench.

Seems some article I read was tracking the numbers. Not sure of the exact numbers but it's too many

I'm not very impressed with the Trump backed candidates who won. Many of them would have won anyway. They ran for "safe seats". Here are some Trump endorsed candidates that lost....Madison Cawthorn (NC)....Janice McGeachin (Idaho)...others.
It is more detailed in this online article....

Who would have thought a mega billionaire would be anti-union. Also for someone that pretends to be smart, he doesn't realize that the % of workers in unions are only 10%. Forming unions are incredibly difficult, and often you see people mysteriously fired for totally-not-union-related issues shortly after forming a union.

"The issue here is that the Democrat Party is overly controlled by the unions and by the trial lawyers – particularly the class action lawyers,"

"And generally if you see something that is not in the interest of the people on the Democrat side, it's going to come because of unions – which is just another form of monopoly – and the trial lawyers."

    He's turning into...Trump? I hope not.

I don't know, but it sure seems like most billion-dollar companies are very anti-union. There is so much these companies do to try to "discourage" people that want to unionize. so honestly it comes as no surprise that he has such disdain for them.
