This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

I'm not very impressed with the Trump backed candidates who won. Many of them would have won anyway. They ran for "safe seats". Here are some Trump endorsed candidates that lost....Madison Cawthorn (NC)....Janice McGeachin (Idaho)...others.
It is more detailed in this online article....
I had posted this originally on my phone. There were a few typos. I just came back to the thread and used "edit" to correct them.
    Have a great night everyone!

What matters most about Tuesday’s Republican primaries is not the scoresheet of how well candidates endorsed by former president Donald Trump did.

What counts is how far to the right the GOP’s electorate has veered.

This should scare everyone who lives outside the fever swamps.

The most important and frightening outcome is the decision of Pennsylvania’s Republicans — by a big margin — to make extremist state Sen. Doug Mastriano their party’s nominee for governor.

Mastriano is the fringe of the fringe. He is an ardent 2020 election denier — “insurrectionist,” my Post colleague Greg Sargent argues, is not too strong a word — who attended Trump’s rally that preceded the Jan. 6 riot, organized buses to take Pennsylvanians to it and wanted the state legislature to overturn the popular vote for electors committed to Joe Biden.

He spoke at a QAnon event last month, at which conspiracy theorists presented him with a ceremonial weapon they called the “sword of David.”

Yes, democracy itself will be on the ballot this fall when Mastriano faces state Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the Democratic nominee. In a state where the governor appoints the secretary of state who oversees elections. Mastriano said he would “reset” the state’s voters rolls so everyone would “have to re-register.”

That this may be illegal does not deter Mastriano. He is so radical that Trump did not endorse him until three days before the primary, when polls showed he was likely to win. The latest returns showed Mastriano with 44 percent, to 20 percent for former congressman Lou Barletta, his nearest rival…….

    Well, this isn’t great
    ===============

….The study, released on Friday by the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights, a decades-old group that tracks right-wing extremism, found that more than 1 in 5 Republican state legislators in the United States were affiliated with far-right groups.

The IREHR (which conducted a similar study with the NAACP in 2010 on racism within the tea party) cross-referenced the personal, campaign and official Facebook profiles of all 7,383 state legislators in the United States during the 2021-22 legislative period with thousands of far-right Facebook groups.

The researchers found that 875 legislators — all but three of them Republicans — were members of one or more of 789 far-right Facebook groups. That works out to 22 percent of all Republican state legislators.

“The ideas of the far right have moved pretty substantially into the mainstream,” Devin Burghart, IREHR’s executive director, told me on Monday, “not only as the basis for acts of violence but as the basis for public policy.”

The far-right groups range from new iterations of the tea party and certain antiabortion and Second Amendment groups to white nationalists, neo-Confederates and sovereign citizen entities that claim to be exempt from U.S. law.

The IREHR largely excluded from its list membership in historically mainstream conservative groups such as the National Rifle Association and in pro-Trump and MAGA groups, focusing instead on more radical groups defined by nationalism or antidemocratic purposes……..

Well, Pennsylvanians have a stark choice in the election of their governor this fall. If they elect this nut, I'm not optimistic about the direction of the party and the country. Oof.

you know it is bad when this happens:

Regan is so toxic, in fact, that one of his daughters urged voters not to support him during his 2020 campaign for the state House seat. “If you’re in Michigan and 18+ pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. Tell everyone,”

I know it's bad when he still got 40% of the vote.

Who would have thought a mega billionaire would be anti-union. Also for someone that pretends to be smart, he doesn't realize that the % of workers in unions are only 10%. Forming unions are incredibly difficult, and often you see people mysteriously fired for totally-not-union-related issues shortly after forming a union.

"The issue here is that the Democrat Party is overly controlled by the unions and by the trial lawyers – particularly the class action lawyers,"

"And generally if you see something that is not in the interest of the people on the Democrat side, it's going to come because of unions – which is just another form of monopoly – and the trial lawyers."
    Flock Elon Musk.

Man who wants to become the sole owner of what is arguably a monopolistic social media company complains about monopolies. Film at 11.

I really despise these people. That Democrats are desperate for anything to distract from their failures that they’re willing to lie, cheat and steal is nothing new, but the extent to which they’re taking it is simply vile. They are now blaming anyone who isn’t them for the murder of 10 people in Buffalo, essentially declaring half the country to be violent criminals. That’s evil, but still easier than defending Joe Biden’s record as President.

I don’t want to see those faces on TV and hate them. Chuck Schumer is ugly, sure, but he’s just a d-bag politician. Nancy Pelosi has had so much work done on her face that you almost pity her when you see her, if only for the energy she must exert to fully close her eyes. Biden was always dumb, but the more than sprinkling of dementia has amplified what God neglected to give him in the first place. They and their fellow travelers have always disgusted me, but now it’s beyond that. I simply can’t fathom how a decent human being could do the things they do.

Sure, anyone can slip and do or say something horrible, as humans we all fall short sometimes. But they live there; it’s all they do.

There is nothing about the current Democrat Party that isn’t predicated on lies, jealousy and hatred – all stirred up by them. I couldn’t imagine living life that way, but it really is a bunch of rich people lecturing others about how it’s wrong they don’t have what other rich people have. Those rich people then promise to make those other rich people suffer for their success. It’s truly bizarre.

Somehow, it works. Never underestimate the power of jealousy.

Democrats add in the idea that race is also something to be jealous over – that certain skin colors have it easy. They honestly believe that the kid of a white meth-addicted mother in Appalachia has “white privilege” and the child of Will Smith is oppressed because of things that happened 400 years ago.

OK, those in power don’t “honestly believe” that, they’ve used that power to convince their followers of that, however. They know better, but they also know the power of positions of authority and trust when it comes to “grooming” people to do whatever you want them to do. It’s rather sick.............

I am traveling in PA for my business right now. I was eating lunch at a restaurant yesterday and overheard 3 older people, yes, they were white (as am I😉), saying that Mastriano was right to be at Jan. 6 because he is former military and there might have been trouble. First off, being former military is irrelevant. Second, why should there have been any trouble? For 230 years there has been peaceful transfer of powe. That azzhat was only there because the orange azzhat wanted people like him there to stir up trouble.

Oh great, another racist complaining about the evil Democrats for :poop: they're causing.

This :poop: is so passé. Come up with a new shtick racist.

Another man made disaster in Florida, thanks to the impotence of DeSantis and Florida's Republican legislators and their distracted focus on culture war issues. That state is a forking mess. And this is coming from somebody living in Texas. What is this, like their 5th special session this year?

Florida is facing a property insurance crisis so dire that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has ordered state lawmakers back into a special session next week to fix it. That’s because the Republican-run legislature squandered weeks of the regular session trying to control what teachers and corporations can say and do instead of addressing a mess that alarms millions of Floridians: a meltdown in the home insurance market.

Yes, Florida is vulnerable to hurricane damage, but so are other Gulf Coast states, and their property insurance markets are not in disarray. That’s because this crisis is man-made, having less to do with destructive hurricanes than with two other Florida trademarks: greed and fraud.

But first, let’s look at what Floridians face: skyrocketing property insurance premiums, up 25 percent from 2020 to 2021 on average, but in some cases tripling in one year, according to the Insurance Information Institute, a nonpartisan, nonprofit trade group that tracks industry trends.

The average cost of homeowner’s insurance in Florida was $3,600 in 2021, double the rate for the rest of the country.
That’s if you can even get insurance. In the past 12 months, more than 400,000 Florida home policies have been dropped, most of them in the past 90 days, according to the institute.

One insurance holding company this week announced 68,200 cancellations. Three other companies have been declared insolvent this year. Florida insurance underwriting losses are projected at more than $1.6 billion for 2021.

“It’s the most volatile property insurance market in the country, and it’s headed for collapse,” says Mark Friedlander, the institute’s spokesman. Cue the special session.

Ah, the ever so obvious accuse them of what you are doing....there are way too many folks that will believe every word....it's very sad and scary at the same time....

So, what is it about the tax exemption for churches? Is is true that they are supposed to refrain from telling people how to vote? I’ve heard that my whole life, maybe it’s a myth? Or is this just one more convention that conservatives are trashing in their panic?

Jokes on him. He isn't a Christian.
I can self proclaim myself as King of the Lizards, but that doesn't mean i am...
