I’m sure much of us are having 2016 flashbacks this morning with a sick feeling to our stomachs..

2 of the last 3 elections Democrats have lost to a far right demagogue

Harris didn’t get close in many states to even Biden’s performance. We could very well lose the Presidency, Senate AND House depending on results the next few days…..

    What went wrong?
    What could’ve been done better?
What can we change in the future to ensure voters are motivated like they were when Obama was elected?

Democrats have no choice but to admit there’s a huge problem with some aspect of their platform— and to do a deep introspection of what’s going wrong..

This acquiring intelligence thing is an uncertain business, what a mess. The species is on the verge of validating the concept of the Great Filter. Being too selfish, not team oriented, I don’t believe we have what it takes, too busy stabbing each other in the back, stealing from one another, killing each other. Could be there are too many of us for a happy ending. 🤔
Heinlein used to talk in his “Future History” stories about how the percentage of people that leave the planet of their birth is very small.

That being said, we will not colonize Mars within my lifetime, Eloon Musk’s lifetime or the lifetime of his grandchildren or possibly ever. Mars does not support life. In addition, there are numerous obstacles such as extreme low gravity, extreme thin atmosphere which does not shield cosmic radiation and the lack of ability to terra form, to name just a few. The social/psychological issues also pose a massive roadblock.

As for going elsewhere? Likely to never happen. Even with a drive capable of close to light speed the amount of material and the number of humans necessary would make such travel nothing beyond science fiction.

    1. Democrats should focus on keeping their voters and delivering for them whether it's in blue cities or states. Too much time is being spent on trying to win people whose minds are made up to vote for Republicans on either economic or social issues. Meanwhile Democrats don't do enough to help their supporters when and where Democrats do have power. That's wrong.

    2. Democrats should be organizing, mobilizing, and messaging their supporters all year round constantly about issues, policy, Democratic accomplishments, and the wrongs of Rightwing Republicans. Too many Democrats are disaffected which adds up to losses at the ballot box, and the inability to push an agenda.

    3. Moderate and Progressive Democrats must find common ground to get things done when they have power. Neither side is going away so they might as well try to make the party work even if they have philosophical and policy differences.

If Democrats do these things they will benefit over time. For right now the goal should be to not lose ground with those who support the party. This isn't what people who want to win right now want to here however it's for the best. Ultimately for those of us more to the Left there are things that need to happen beyond the Democratic Party and election cycle. That's for another thread.

First, they need to learn to care about Americans first because that’s what Americans care about first. Just like every other country and their citizens.
Since nothing exists in a vacuum we are about to see the stupidity of America First.

You gonna pizz and moan when the tariffs hit?

Btw, Republicans don’t give a flying fork at a rolling doughnut about Americans.

First, I don’t care about tariffs because I don’t have to. I don’t give a shirt about an apple going up $.10 or any other increase. You are right though if you include Democrat party and Republican party both neither give a shirt about you or I but you won’t include both. Because you still believe that your party gives a shirt about you.

A lot of people barely get by. What happens to them when prices go up and they suddenly can't afford to feed their families anymore?

This is such a cop out. As is your ridiculous “both sides!” But then again, we now know what you’re all about.

Honestly-this is such a cliché attitude. Pretend you don’t like Republicans, pretend you’re “above” all that and think both parties are the same. But actually carry water for Rs and defend them whenever they are maligned by pointing at Dems.

I can’t stand any politician, the only thing worse is lawyers. They’re all self-serving lowlifes. The only thing worse are lawyers, but believe your side is good go ahead :)

A black cat went past us, and then another cat that looked just like it.

Just to make sure I understand… lawyers are worse, right?

It is not belief. It is fact.

If food costs too much for you and you don’t care then good for you. How about electronics? Don’t care about that? Good for you. New car? Don’t care? Good for you.

There is one thing where you might have a point. The time has come to kick the so-called Third Way to the curb.

Ooh, look at you go. I bet you're really fun at parties.

NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat who has taken a soft touch with President-elect Donald Trump, left open the possibility of switching to the Republican Party in a pair of Friday morning interviews.

Adams was a member of the GOP from 1995 through 2002, and was asked during an appearance on NY1 whether he would return to the party. He did not rule out the possibility.

“I’m a part of the American party,” he said in response. “I love this country.”

Asked to clarify his comments in a subsequent interview on PIX11, the big-city mayor again left open the question about his future political affiliation.

“No matter what party I’m on or vote on, I’m going to push for American values,” he said, arguing that officials need to move beyond parties altogether and work in concert to solve voters’ problems.

Adams’ comments come on the heels of a presidential race in which the mayor — unlike most of his fellow Democrats — took pains to avoid criticizing Trump. And since Trump’s ascension to the White House, Adams has spoken glowingly about Elon Musk, a confidant of Trump tasked with making government more efficient.……

    He is a hack, period.

Adam is kissing up now trying to save his arse that he’s being investigated.

There is zero reason for Kinzinger to be investigated beyond the bruised ego of Trump.
