I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Let me just throw this out here for the people saying that there's not enough time for impeachment/25th amendment because there's only two weeks left in his term.

*****Stop thinking there's only two weeks left in his term.*****

I didn’t know this, but I think the sergeant at arms supervises the Capitol police.

But if he denied an emergency request to protect the Capitol building from terrorists, that is black and white indefensible.
Remember Benghazi because Pepperidge Farms remembers Benghazi.

A lot of people were saying that trump shouldn't be prosecuted for the good of the country. That ship has sailed. For the good of the country, after yesterday, trump MUST be prosecuted....for everything thing he has done. I really do hope they use the 25th amendment to catch that beady-eyed fat bastage off guard before he can pardon anyone else or himself.

I agree. Those especially on Trump's cabinet should go to Pence and get him to invoke the 25th and rather than resign, vote him off the island.
Indeed, cabinet members that resign now should not be lauded, they should be branded as cowards for failing to protect this democracy from an unhinged POTUS.

Purveyors of disinformation want us to believe it was Antifa. Some will pretend this couldn’t be anticipated and planned for, or that it’s a “both sides” outcome.

We see many of their faces from images and video. Their identities are being established. They were met with very little resistance gaining entry into the Capitol. They had shirts made, for ****** sake.

Nothing about yesterday was spontaneous, accidental, or unpredictable.
If the Antifa conspiracy doesn't gain enough traction, might I suggest that it was BLM members in whiteface.

Well she is the wife of the turtle that did throw him under the bus or the first time. Did you expect her to stay?

One thing is clear, I think a Trump pardon is well off the table. Pence isn't going to do it and if he tries to self-pardon, the action against it will be swift and near unanimous.

In fact, I think even pardoning people like his kids and Giuliani are substantially more challenging for him today than two days ago.

I think what happened yesterday shows what was lacking.
Oh, I clearly agree there was a massive issue. But was it on his shoulders or something else?

I just don't want someone fired and it doesn't do anything to fix the problem. I want the problem fixed.

don't know if this is true or not

but I heard that Pence's wife and child were on site in the Capitol yesterday and neither Trump nor the White House checked to make sure they were okay
