I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

The Q crazies are already threatening to kill Pence for not exercising his make believe powers to re-elect Trump. If Pence actually agreed to remove Trump from office, he'd have to hide from those people for the rest of his life.

I appreciate that concern from his perspective, but a lot of people in this are exposed to the same dangers. And I don't say that to be dismissive, either. I think there is a genuine concern that the lives of elected and government officials, as well as members of the media, are increasingly in danger because of the sentiments being stirred up within and against our society.

We need an inpatient psych evaluation IMO.

just heard reporting on tv that while he was glued to the tv watching yesterday he did indeed refuse to send the national guard and had to be coerced into it. According to reports he said he liked what he was seeing and didn’t understand the difference between this and BLM protests that had some violence.

Clearly criminal....I don't care if he ends up in a mental ward or a jail cell, as long as he loses relevance either way....

The NYT is reporting that Trump has had serious discussions about pardoning himself. That's his only play at this point. He has to take his chances that it will stand because if it doesn't, his arse is going to federal jail.

Look at how much this is dominating BBC news. The header that I cut off is about Biden condemning it.

don't know if this is true or not

but I heard that Pence's wife and child were on site in the Capitol yesterday and neither Trump nor the White House checked to make sure they were okay
If true...good lord, no wonder he was pissed.

His daughter was there, safe to assume Mother was there as well.

Just a heads up, the Sergeant at Arms for the House has resigned at Pelosi's request.

Edit: Senate Sgt at Arms will either resign or probably be ousted.

Pelosi is asking for the resignation of the USCP. I suspect he'll be on his way out soon.

So looks like local supermarket magnate Donald Rouse Sr was at the rally and is now walking back thru statement of his "reason" for being there.

    Too little too late.

There is a full on call for boycotting Rouses Supermarkets happening.

I'm sure that there will be more business owners outed and more boycotts

    Was the MyPillow guy there?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes... the first of many I'm sure, let the schadenfreude flow... note to self, don't wear the work-issued ID or livestream while committing treason, amirite?

Yes, that one is perplexing for sure. When the camera turns around at the end, there is already a crowd there. So 🤷‍♀️

There is another video of the front of the capitol getting overrun. It was more of what you would expect. I think this video was taken after the front of the capitol was overrun.

I had to go to the original tweet to get it to work. But yeah, that looked more like a crowd control thing. There already were people everywhere, so the barrier there was pretty pointless.

Oh, I clearly agree there was a massive issue. But was it on his shoulders or something else?

I just don't want someone fired and it doesn't do anything to fix the problem. I want the problem fixed.

And what if he was the problem?
