I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

I stayed in a Brownstone just around corner on C st when we went to DC.
    Crazy.

I worked at the Labor Dept across the street for 25 years!!!

At that point, I think use of force (including deadly if any of those idiots are packing) is totally warranted....this country would be better off without those cultists/traitors....

His term ends at noon on January 20 per the Twentieth Amendment, at which time he is no longer "the guy with the military."

It would not be surprising to see articles of impeachment filed before the end of today so his term may end sooner than that.
This is naive. It always has been.

I’m not saying it will definitely happen. But if you aren’t prepared for these very real possibilities, then the shirtstorm we’re seeing right now is the result.

I hate to sound like the Q cultists, but we’ve got to wake up.

DC police chief cannot establish control of the Capitol building unless the Capitol Police cedes that control. They can establish a perimeter, but their authority within that perimeter is subject to the jurisdiction of the Capitol Police.
They were giving a press conference. Capital police requested help. The mayor wants her chief of police to personally handle it.

edit, sorry, you were talking about the guard. I"m not sure if they're being deployed on the capital, or if they're all just activated and ready to go.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda pissed off watching this crap. Lets just pop off some GD tear gas and disperse this cluster...like right now, don't shoo them off peacefully, send them off running, coughing, and screaming with snot coming out of their freaking eyeballs.
    They just did.

Flash Bangs and chemical irritants. They're still being a bit gentle. Looks like people further back in the crowd are the smart ones, as they already started leaving.

I watched fox for a moment.

they were well wishing the terrorist birch that got shot. And praying for her recovery.

    I hope she dies

I think anyone wearing a red hat should get a bullet between the eyes.

You KNOW that’s exactly how the other side would approach it.. and spare me the ‘they go low, we go high’ BS.. yeah that’ll get us really far.
