Former President D. Trump has been indicted by a New York Grand Jury. There will be much to talk about on this topic because this is just the first step in a lengthy process.
Possibly it is worthy of its own thread here rather than posting about Trump's indictment in already existing threads?

This 3/31/23 story might get the ball rolling....

Someone on Twitter said Jordan couldn’t pass the bar. Is this true? Did he ever take it? I know I’ve read he’s never authored a single piece of legislation in the House. What a waste of space.

I think the history is that he never actually sat for the bar exam. So "couldn't pass the bar" isn't quite correct but "hasn't passed the bar" works.

On Twitter I noticed that many people were referring to Jim Jordan as "Gym Jordan." I took that as an inference that those people regard Jordan as a meathead of sorts with muscles, not brains located between his ears. I found that mildly amusing.

I believe that has to do with his involvement with wrestlers getting molested in a gym in college.

I think he’s going to be indicted in Georgia and by the Jack Smith investigation. I think he makes for a terrible defendant because he can’t shut up, and his lawyers these days generally suck - they’re terrible (he ran off the good ones by not paying them and then being too toxic).

I think based on these things there’s a decent chance he could be convicted of something and could even serve some of supervised sentence of some kind. Not sure how strong of a chance that is though. Actual jail time does seem remote.

Yep. I know the judge said he was hesitant last week, but I would think at some point he issues a gag order, right? Literally hours after the judge warned all sides to temper their language about the case, etc., he goes and does the exact opposite, INCLUDING talking about the judge and his family. What an idiot... who just so happen to be on the verge of becoming the Republican nominee again.

    Guess this can go here

CNN — Former President Donald Trump is suing Michael Cohen for $500 million in damages for allegedly breaching his contract as Trump’s former personal attorney.

The lawsuit, filed in a Florida federal court on Wednesday, accuses Cohen of spreading false information about Trump and breaching his contractual obligations to the former president in Cohen’s public statements, published books, podcast series and other media appearances….

I don't see the judge issuing a gag order unless some very specific threat to case information became apparent. I don't think he would do it based on comments about the judge or his family (unless it created a genuine safety issue).

Will this civil suit open Trump up for more crimes due to discovery? Does Trump believe he has lost 1/2 billion due to the hush money crime? Some may argue it made him money, since everyone knew he was a cad, but many may envy him for getting with porn stars.

I don’t think anyone expects this to get to discovery. It is likely to be dismissed pretty early on.
