Former President D. Trump has been indicted by a New York Grand Jury. There will be much to talk about on this topic because this is just the first step in a lengthy process.
Possibly it is worthy of its own thread here rather than posting about Trump's indictment in already existing threads?

This 3/31/23 story might get the ball rolling....

CNN) — House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan subpoenaed former New York County Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz for his role investigating Donald Trump and his business empire – as House Republicans attempt to frame the recent indictment against the former President as politically motivated.

The move comes as Jordan has left the door open on whether to take the unprecedented step to subpoena Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, as part of the larger House Republican effort to discredit the case he has brought against Trump……

Can we maybe nail that enabler/groomer to the wall on Obstruction charges? Please, oh please.

I would like an explanation from our Trump apologist why he feels like white collar crime shouldn’t be prosecuted.
Before we get to that point, I’d like for the Trump supporters enablers to clarify if they believe that Trump should be prosecuted if he did, in fact, break the law.

The New York judge who presided over the arraignment of Donald Trump and the judge’s family have reportedly received multiple threats following the historic arrest of the former president.

In court in Manhattan on Tuesday, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts related to his hush money payment to the adult film star Stormy Daniels.

NBC was among outlets to report that the judge, Juan Merchan, and his family subsequently received “dozens” of threats.

Citing two sources familiar with the matter, NBC said the threats, like those recently directed towards the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, and other officials, had come in the form of calls, emails and letters…….

Maybe they should charge the high profile people who posted pictures of the Judge's daughter on social media with tampering, etc ? 😯

Our first criminal defendant President. Posted for posterity.
He’s got that mob boss stare…

…..,,A recent Quinnipiac survey found that reaction to Trump’s legal travails differed widely between Democrat and Republican voters.

Among Democrats, 89% thought the charges against Trump were very serious or somewhat serious. Just 21% of Republicans felt the same.

Some 88% of Democratic voters thought that criminal charges being filed against Trump should disqualify him from running for president again. Only 23% of Republicans were of the same view.

It mirrors the wider divide over Trump, who retains his unique knack of completely alienating some people, and utterly captivating others.

Among Republicans, 73% think the one-term, twice-impeached, criminally charged former president has had a positive impact on the Republican party.

Democrats disagree: 93% think Trump’s influence has been negative.

It presents a continuing problem for a country that has recently seen its main seat of democracy attacked by thousands of Trump supporters, but in electoral terms, it isn’t great for the Republican party, either.

“That the fact that if the election were held today, Biden would beat Trump fairly handily has got to be a huge red flag for Republicans,” Malloy said……..

    She's not wrong.

Democrats would give their left (insert reproductive organ of choice here) for a candidate who can connect with Joe Sixpack and bring the entire party to heel.
    Without the criming of course.

Bill Barr tore into Donald Trump over his alleged mishandling of classified documents on Sunday, saying that there is a “very good chance” the former president will be indicted over it.

He told ABC News: “He had no claim to those documents, especially the classified documents. They belonged to the government. And so, I think he was jerking the government around.”

The FBI seized dozens of classified documents from Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence during a raid last year. “I think they [FBI] probably have some very good evidence there,” Barr adds……

Yes this is real. Jim Jordan is couldn’t be a bigger clown. He’s taking his clown show to Manhattan for a stunt hearing about subject matter his committee has no business in.

And we’re all paying for it.

This seems like it should be illegal. Aren’t there laws or rules governing how congress can spend its money? Can congress hold a hearing on anything, no matter whether or not it is within their jurisdiction? For this field hearing, they’ll have to fly to DC and get extra security, and probably pay for setting up their stage. Do they need a permit from NY to hold a public spectacle?
