So tonight is night 1 of the Democratic convention and we'll hear from John Kasich and Michelle Obama. Thought it would be good to have a central place as the old PDB days.

The point was supposed to be that she wanted to remind everyone to get out and vote so there wont be a repeat of what ‘coulda, shoulda, woulda’[tm] happened in 2016..... Not sure if necessary, but that was the ‘why.’
Yeah if she was gonna give us a Jim Mora ism.

I would have voted for the diddly poo one. If you don't take this seriously and vote you will get a big bald guy that doesn't know diddly poo about America or even how government works.

She isn't just figuring it out. She's pointing it out. Also making it clear that the main stream media doesn't just do things like that to the right. They've always done it to both sides.

Why are there always attempts to make up look stupid? She's very intelligent even if you don't agree with her.
Because she's an intelligent moron. It's quite possible to be both.

Missed it tonight, but looking forward you watching some of these. Sounds like I need to start with Obama, then Warren? That would’ve been the first two picks of my fantasy DNC speaker draft.

Great reading different thoughts on AOC. I find that to be a tough issue. I was admittedly suspicious of Bernie until I saw his pointedly pro-democracy, pro-Biden, uniting speech. He gained a ton of trust with me, and I think his message was as important as as any I’ve heard, whether or not it resonates as something to persuade lots of voters.

I’d hoped to hear a hint of the same from AOC, and maybe that was unfair or ignorant of me given what the DNC asked of her. From the DNC’s perspective, why couldn’t there be room in the same speech to acknowledge the broad tent of diverse viewpoints while also nodding to the nominee? I like AOC and thought she really could’ve put an exclamation point on Bernie’s message to an extremely important and opinionated swath of voters. I’m not blaming her — not really sure who to blame (maybe myself for being ignorant on how this works).

Want to leave this on a positive note — I’m so encouraged and inspired by the collection of speakers and by the message of positivity, inclusivity, being tethered to reality, etc. It is refreshing and cathartic after harboring so much resentment and negativity over politics. Most people want to do the right thing. That’s what makes democracy work most of the time. The pendulum will swing back.

    Yep great.

Give that woman something important to do because she his chomping at the bit the fix something!

I would like to see her be the Treasury Secretary. She would do well in that role and bring some accountability to Wall Street. Maybe implement she real change for working Americans.

    Sure.

I can assure you wouldn't want to be on the opposite end of her critically questioning you on a House panel. That women is always prepared and knows how to dissect an opponent.

Trump says thigh-land and “yo, Semite” and thinks you can inject disinfectant to protect yourself from a pandemic, so I am not sure where the goalposts on this discussion are anyway, but AOC is better at cross-examination than lots of high dollar veteran lawyers.

there are things I think she’s too aggressive on or has been wrong about, but there’s also a lot that she says which I think has merit

in neither case, though, does she strike me as a moron. What do you mean by that?

I would imagine that she's a far left lib that he disagrees with on everything about. So she's obviously a moron.

    Or something like that...

Admittedly, that's hard to put a finger on so I'll use an analogy. Have you ever been in a business meeting where a person who is not necessarily essential to the meeting tries to control the meeting by constantly interjecting themselves and giving their opinions on matters that they are not necessarily as well versed in as they think they are? Usually these people think that they are smarter than everyone else in the room, and while they may be highly intelligent, their arrogance doesn't allow them to defer to others. They're usually pretty easy to pick out. They talk a lot, but nobody really responds to them or they get brushed off.

So what you see as being aggressive & occasionally wrong, I see as arrogance. An inflated view of her own intelligence, a touch of narcissism and an inability to accept views other than her own. Because of this, I don't think very many people that she has to work with like her all that much, including many in her own party so her arrogance will continually hold her back. That's how I would describe her as an intelligent idiot.

    So basically, she's uppity.
