I don't know. My granddaughter kisses me on my lips, but she's 6. It seems people just grasp at things at times.

it is really a difference in families, some do this and some don’t. some people are uncomfortable with affection shown in a family and some aren’t. 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure what you're annoyed at. What I'm getting at is that there are some with a pretty telltale reliance on using bots or the 'russians' to confirm one's bias about one candidate or another. I'm not saying there is no legitimacy behind the attacks.

You're really taking this whole Sanders supporters online narrative a bit far. I don't think it's healthy to the conversation.

You see, this is interesting. Is it advantageous to claim one is 'sensitive' because they do not agree with your position, and do so with the same vigor with which you argue your point? I really don't think it is. You can continue to claim that I am sensitive, but that isn't the case. Just for the record.

Now, you took my comment to another poster as me dismissing your entire claim about the Sanders-Russia connection. Granted, maybe I should have begun with "I'm not saying the claims aren't true, but there is also a Russia fatigue that has a lot of people, in my view, using those outlets as scapegoats unnecessarily and unrealistically". I think you jumped the gun a bit.

Sure, i'll explain what I meant. As I said earlier, I think a lot of Democrats suffer from a bit of "russia hysteria". In an age where anything can be claimed as fact online without a lot of objective source fact-checking, a lot of mistakes can be made. The litmus test to many is the 'russia supports x candidate' argument. As in, Russian bots or trolls want to prop up a certain candidate, therefore that candidate is unamerican, etc.

If none of that resonates, consider a simple example involving Tulsi Gabbard being called a 'putin russian puppet' by Democrats simply because some of her views on Russia differ and she happened to disagree very much with Hillary Clinton.

Okay thanks for explaining what you meant. I did take your comment as a dig at me, so I’m sorry I got annoyed by it.

I do think there is something going on in Twitter with people or bots who claim to be Bernie supporters. I just mentioned what I read today in the Iowa thread with some really bad homophobic comments about Pete. There is a lot of really questionable things that seem to be coming from Bernie supporters. I don’t think it’s wise to ignore it. It can sway voters. it’s not doing Bernie any favors.

I really hope we're not stuck at 62% all night

Looking spiffy in his LSU Alumni cap, James Carville sounded a note of alarm, saying he's scared to death for the Democratic Party on MSNBC. He said that in the current climate, donors wouldn't give a popsicle to the DNC

    Carville:
"I'm 75 years old, why am I here doing this? Because I'm scared to death, that's why. Let's get relevant here ... all the Sanders people are taking pictures wishing Jeremy Corbyn the best. ... I don't want to go down that path."

"We've got to decide what we want to be. Do we want to be an ideological cult? Or do we want to have a majoritarian instinct to be a majority party? What we need is power, you understand? That's what this is about. Without power, you have nothing. You just have talking points."

Poor guy sounds like he's seriously losing it. No worries though, he can rabble incoherently in distress for four years with Republicans when a 'socialist' is elected this November (keep in mind, that could be a couple of candidates).

what is the basis for your confidence in Sanders or whoever else you're talking about defeating Trump in 2020?

The entrance polls in Iowa set off alarm bells for me in seeing just how badly Bernie did with older voters (don't recall how Warren or others did) in combination with turn out being in line with last cycle.

I’m starting to think Pete could be the Democrats best hope.. To me, he’s VERY reminiscent of Obama in ‘08.. Being from the South as i am, i had a hard time believing that America would ever elect a black man President.. but then it happened- Twice.. A lot of people say America would never elect a gay guy, but I’m not so sure.. To me, he’s the only candidate in this race to conjur of the type of enthusiasm and passion that Bernie does-and i think Pete’s more electable than Bernie.. And for anyone who thinks we need to put up a ‘safe’ candidate to beat Trump- that’s what Hillary was supposed to be.. if we’re gonna go down, I’d rather go down swinging with a guy like Pete, than with someone like Biden.

Simple. He unlike many others resonates very, very strongly with the working class of this nation. You can look at his labor endorsements as compared to the rest of the field as evidence. Sure, older voters not used to or comfortable with his ideas that are newer to them will back a moderate. Sanders, viewed as the most leftist candidate by most everyone, still had the most votes in the entire state of Iowa and polls better in red states than most Democrats. That wouldn't happen if his ideas weren't wildly popular.

But it's high damn time the young people in this country show up in force to vote. They've got the numbers to win, time will tell if they show up this time. I believe Sanders will sweep NH and Nevada, and he looks to be in good shape in SC as Biden continues to freefall.

Im very confident that this race will shape the conversation away from the 'he or she is too far left to win over voters' argument.

He's just an old white guy now.

I am just looking at Wikipedia, which isn't the greatest source, but according to it Sanders only has two endorsements from national labor unions that would be considered working class - postal workers, representing 200,000 and the UE - representing 36,000 electrical workers.
Contrast that with Biden who has the endorsements of:

Sanders does have locals that have endorsed him and many of those are working class - but they are, of course, relatively small compared to their national organizations.

I'm honestly just working under the assumption that Trump's going to win re-election so that when he does win it won't be disappointing and if he doesn't I'll have myself a nice surprise.

I'm also coming to the conclusion that Pete is the best candidate to take on Trump, but his inability to win over black voters is going to kill his chances at the nomination unless he can turn that around.

I too am under the assumption that Trump will win.. Which is why i’d like to at least go down guns blazing (no pun intended, in re to an earlier post) , with a candidate like Mayor Pete.

And yeah, i’ve definitely heard the thing about Mayor Pete’s “lifestyle” alienating black voters, and i don’t necessarily disagree.. but EVERY one of the Democratic candidates has their own downsides, and IMO none of them has the upside that Pete has.. If we can nominate a person like Pete who can arouse a lot of enthusiasm and passion from voters in general- then maybe some of the black electorate will vote for him, when the alternative would be staying home, sitting on their hands and watching another four years of the Trump Crime Family(?) .. i dont know that to be the case though, i’m just speculating.

Thanks.. from what i read, he wants to ban thesale of assault weapons, require domestic abusers to turn over their weapons, close loopholes, expand background checks, establish a licensing system, etc.. Where is the problem, Joe OKC? And if Joe doesnt like Pete’s plans, then what , specifically, would you do, Joe, to help curb the epidemic of bloodshed in the US? And if you say we should do nothing, then ... Well, at least Pete’s proposing SOMETHING.

Could you elaborate on what his gun stance is? I honestly dont know.. I do know that Mayor Pete served his country honorably in the military, unlike Trump.

    ban Assault Weapons and Magazines
    Universal Back Ground Checks
    Gun show loop holes
    and...
    NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY.

Great, Perfect, Awesome.. again, where is the problem??

Which of these proposals apply to YOU, to make you think he is specifically coming for YOUR guns.
