Biden has lost support from many people who voted for him in the past.
He is getting up there in age.
Here are a couple of sites I'd like to share...

WHAT DO ANY OF YOU THINK?
IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BEST SERVED BY HAVING PRESIDENT BIDEN RUN FOR ANOTHER TERM OR WOULD A DIFFERENT CANDIDATE BE BETTER?

Barack Obama has reportedly warned Joe Biden about how strong a challenge Donald Trump will be in their second election battle in 2024, should Trump win the Republican nomination next year as expected.

Polling now shows Trump and Biden closely matched for a second presidential contest.

At a private White House lunch with Biden in June, Obama also “promised to do all he could to help the president get re-elected”, the Washington Post reported. Citing two sources familiar with the meeting, the Post said Biden welcomed the offer of help from the man under whom he was vice-president between 2009 and 2017.

Biden, the newspaper said, “is eager to lock down promises of help from top Democrats, among whom Obama is easily the biggest star, for what is likely to be a hard-fought re-election race”.…..

Good. One of the many parts of that perfect storm in 2016 was the Dems complacency. Obama thinking it was over so he didn't fight for that scotus seat. Hilary plainly playing prevent and just looking ahead. Folks just bitter and not showing up to vote. What drove voters out in 2020 was this fear of another 4 years. While I think Biden has been masterful in his legislative achievement, much more successful than obama, he couldn't have inspired that many people to vote in 2020....and that's ultimately what matters. Folks need to understand killing authoritarians means we must continue to vote in fear that we will lose our democracy. Too many democracies are backsliding...and mass protest won't matter once liberal democracy is killed.

Precisely why Trump being the nominee will all but guarantee a second term for Biden.

Trump on the ticket is the biggest motivator the Dems are going to have. Just like last time, voting against Trump will bring out the Dems.

I don't see the same passion from the Left except if maybe Meatball Ron is the nominee but other than that turnout will be a problem.

The flip side is would the right have the same passion for DeSantis as they have for Trump?

It doesn't matter who they run.

They have shown they will vote for who the are told to. Forget Trump's indictments. Looks their last 5 presidential candidates (Trump, Romney, McCain, W, and Bob Dole) and look at the Dems (Biden, Clinton, Obama, Gore, Clinton). The R's are all completely different. Like completely. The three most centrist and similar - Romney, McCain and Dole - got their arses kicked.

No matter what was said in the primaries, etc., whoever the nominee is (trump) they will coalesce around and vote for their nominee precisely the reason we vote against Trump. Except it is against the "Woke Left".

POTENTIAL Primary Challenger to Pres. Biden...

The belly aching about Hunter is freaking tiresome, and misdirected. Why not focus on Joe's other real issues. His age and health are worth considering. His lack of support, even in Democratic circles is really problematic. He should easily be way ahead in the polls, but the support he has is hardly on solid ground.

The Republicans are making a mistake focusing on Hunter because there is nothing there to tie him to his dad. It's a dead end and once it's litigated, it's gonna backfire in a bad way. I guess the GOP will just keep shooting themselves until they dump Trump/DeSantis and let the Hunter stuff go.

Ok Dave, but this story focuses on a Democrat who is CONSIDERING challenging the Democratic President in a Democratic Primary. Dean Phillips is a D from MN.

Nice try.....this story focuses on someone who has literally no chance to challenge Biden but will take every opportunity to smear him, it wouldn't surprise me if your mess of a corrupt, fascist, lunatic, cult like party is behind it....

    I don't have a party.
I just have a dislike for Trump and Biden.

Rep. Dean Phillips has nothing but good things to say about President Biden’s time in office, supporting his policies, praising his record and calling the legislative achievements during his first two years in office “historic in nature.”

But the Minnesota Democrat has also launched a public campaign to encourage Biden not to run for reelection.
“I want him to preserve his legacy, not to compromise it,” Phillips said in an interview. “And this is exactly why I’m asking — pass the torch, open the stage.”

Phillips said his motivation to get Biden out of the race is based in his belief that the president is a weak candidate who wouldn’t beat former president Donald Trump, the front-runner in the Republican primary, in a general election.

“We’re at grave risk of another Trump presidency,” Phillips said. “I’m doing this to prevent a return of Donald Trump to the White House.”
Phillips has emerged as the most vocal Democrat in Congress to challenge Biden’s electability, citing poll numbers and the president’s age, 80, as key factors as to why he should pass the baton to someone else in the party.

His concerns are sometimes expressed privately by other Democrats, but most disagree with Phillips’s decision to express his misgivings publicly. His criticism is a distraction, said several Democrats who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to share their thoughts about intraparty tensions. They worry his focus on Biden’s age could be used by Republicans in attack ads during the campaign……

As I see it as a rational. Trump would be a dire threat to the Nation as POTUS Emperor for another 4 years, unlimited period of time, Biden beat him once, would likely beat him again. After Little Donny is removed as a threat, then we definitely need younger leadership.

Yeah, anyone agitating to get rid of Biden might as well put a MAGA sticker on their car. That’s all they are doing is helping to elect Trump. As long as Rs are going to nominate that oaf, the rest of us have no choice.

Which is the raison d'etre of this thread.

GOP voters think many candidates could beat Biden.
According to this article they feel his age and other less than flattering video clips make Biden very beatable.
The article states it in a far superior manner....here it is...

    =============
For months, Republican voters have consumed such a steady diet of clips of Biden stumbling, over words and sandbags, that they now see the 80-year-old Democratic incumbent as so frail that he would be beatable by practically any Republican — even a four-times-indicted former president who lost the last election.
    =============

That's Fox News and conservative media reinforcing those beliefs there. The problem is that most of the electorate isn't watching Fox News or listening to conservative media. It's no surprise that the majority of Republican voters are off base with the rest of the electorate when all they get fed are lies and exaggerations from the right wing.

Maybe one day Republicans will wise up and stop watching and listening to right wing propaganda media, but I'm not holding my breath that it will be for this election.
