Wasn't sure where to put this, but we need a thread for the wing nuts. Lauren Boebert.

Eh, the SBC isn't hurtling back in time. They've always been stuck in the past. Sheet like this is typical for them. There are some Christian churches that are hurtling themselves back in time. The SBC just voted to expel all churches who have woman pastors because they believe that women must never be in a position considered to have any authority over men. Some of them say that should be the case in society at large. No woman should have a job where she has any authority over any man. This isn’t a fringe part of the Christian religion. Women biblical scholars were literally told to go home and have babies.
This at a time where the SBC is having sexual abuse scandal after scandal, and struggling to hold the abusers accountable. There is a strong tide of this type of radicalism taking hold in some very large sections of Christianity in this country and it’s very concerning. I see the similarities between radical Muslims and radical Christians.
Well, some were evolving as evidenced by the number of churches who had women pastors and were summarily expelled. I guess that’s what I meant by going backwards.Eh, the SBC isn't hurtling back in time. They've always been stuck in the past. Sheet like this is typical for them.
True dat. I was thinking more SBC leadership. But look at the vote totals. 80+%. Those votes are church leaders. Sure seems like not many SBC churches welcome the idea of women pastors.Well, some were evolving as evidenced by the number of churches who had women pastors and were summarily expelled. This thread is the best fit I could find for this. Sharing it because it made me chuckle:
Good old Paul, pissing and moaning. Of course about 50% of the letters attributed to Paul weren’t written by him which is irrelevant to the misogyny.I was raised Southern Baptist. They sicken me but I give them credit for actually making an attempt to follow one of the inconvenient rules.
One Timothy 2:12
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
There's a lot of other inconvenient rules that they should be following as well. The cherry picking is one of the things that made me question the whole thing.
Reading that without context is dangerous to the lives of women.I was raised Southern Baptist. They sicken me but I give them credit for actually making an attempt to follow one of the inconvenient rules.

Evidently Muse and Rogan are harassing a prominent doctor and scientist because he (so far) won’t agree to debate RFK, Jr. on Rogan’s podcast. They’re not serious people and aren’t interested in the truth, only entertainment. When one has a moral duty to tell the truth it’s hard to compete with someone who is free to say anything regardless of truth. I don‘t think Hotez should debate, for same reason you don’t fight with a pig. The pig is already covered in mud and likes it, but will drag you down into the mud as well. I am sure I really messed up the saying, lol.

The only correction I would make for Dr. Marino is not that Joe Rogan isn’t smart. It is that Joe Rogan is stupid.
If someone wants to get serious insight into who and how Joe Rogan is, then watch every episode of NewsRadio focusing on the character Joe who is played by Joe Rogan. He, the cast, and some of the writers acknowledged at the time that he was being himself and not actually playing another character. He admits he’s stupid, but IMO that’s just a ploy to avoid lawsuits. He acts like he thinks he’s smart.

If you watch the show knowing that he was being himself and seeing what he's doing now, it's prophetic and obvious that Joe Rogan was going to end up doing exactly what he's doing.
I can appreciate that. I laughed at him back then because he's such an overcompensating twit. I re-watched it again last year and laughed even harder at him. The other characters were always talking down to his character, literally and figuratively, and he's clueless about it.Gonna be honest, the main thing keeping me from rewatching the show is that Rogan was terrible on it.
