Geesh
“We’ve gotta go back to the roots of what made this country great in the first place, which is our sense of community. I mean, we are the melting pot of the world and that’s what makes us strong, is our diversity, and we need to learn to harness that and appreciate it, and not use it as a political tool to keep everyone separate from each other you know?”
Don't know how legit this is, but definitely sounds like something that shouldn't be happening.
…..On August 8th, the unmistakably unknown singer Oliver Anthony uploaded his original song “Rich Men North of Richmond” to YouTube, and as of Tuesday, the song sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The stripped-down Appalachian folk tune lamenting the plight of the working man, along with conflicting jabs at who’s responsible for said plight, was immediately extolled by rightwing figureheads like Matt Walsh, Jack Posobiec, Ian Miles Cheong, Kari Lake, and Joe Rogan—a real who’s who of people I’ve muted on Twitter and would certainly never pass the aux chord to……
Well, that incoherence is reinforcing itself tenfold as Anthony’s rise to fame continues. Fox News, which has been tracking the “Rich Men of Richmond” craze like a hound dog on a scent trail, interviewedAnthony on Monday after one of his performances. Anthony explained:
As quickly as conservatives and right-wing nutsos glommed onto the bearded singer with a high, lonesome, “authentic” warble, they freaked out over his embrace of diversity. Diversity is, of course, the first symptom of the incurable “wokeness” disease.
“Promoted algorithm boosted ‘based’ red beard hillbilly song guy was faking his accent and says diversity is our strength,” one user tweeted, receiving over 8,500 likes. Another user wrote, “Did he sell out already to the rich men north of Richmond?”……

I love that the far right had spent so much time vigorously defending this song saying there’s “nothing racist about it!”Looks like Oliver has a decision to make.
Remain his true, authentic self and get savaged on Fox, death threats in the mail and violence at his concerts.
Or
Knuckle under, say he was "misquoted", blame the media and have a nice little career playing county fairs and opening for rightwing stump speeches.
Odd seeing as they are all trying to be the main "Rich Man (and woman) North of Richmond"They opened up the GOP debate last night with Oliver's song. I don't think he has anything to worry about in terms of right-wing support.

Then there's this:
Oliver Anthony’s Manager Speaks Out: ‘God Has Chosen to Speak Through Oliver’
So apparently he has God's support.

A California elementary school was evacuated on Tuesday in response to a bomb threat, days after the school was targeted online by rightwing extremists over a playdate event.
Chabot elementary in Oakland received the threat over email before school started on Tuesday, forcing roughly 50 students and staff members to evacuate, authorities said. Police found no explosives after searching the school using dogs from the bomb detection team.
“The email had some racial undertones in it and we’re currently investigating that,”Lisa Ausmus, a captain with the Oakland police, told media. “We have asked the FBI and they’re going to come in and assist us with this investigation.”
The incident unfolded after the school faced a surge in online harassment over a playdate event organized over the weekend for the school’s Black, brown, and Asian and Pacific Islander families. The school, which is majority white, set up the event to help foster connection and belonging, organizers said.
“They’re trying to be more welcoming to families of color at the school,” Sam Davis, the district one representative for Oakland unified school district, told Oaklandside.
But a flier for the event was soon posted on Reddit, KRON4 reported, and the far-right extremist handle Libs of TikTok reposted it on Twitter. As its contact information spread online, the school saw a deluge of hate mail and phone calls, Chabot’s equity and inclusion committee told the outlet.
In one email, someone referenced a race war and said: “We’re going to put you back in chains or in the jungle where you belong.”…..
