French DJ and activist Barbara Butch said on Monday that she has filed several police reports after receiving death threats for her participation in an Olympics opening ceremony tableau that drew comparisons to Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."

The scene, which featured drag queens and other members of the LGBTQ community, was the subject of backlash from the Catholic Church as well as prominent conservative figures like Rob Schneider and Candace Cameron Bure. Olympics artistic director Thomas Jolly told French outlet BFMTV over the weekend that the segment was not inspired by "The Last Supper," and was instead a tribute to Greek mythology - but it has continued to stoke controversy.

Butch made the announcement on her Instagram account Monday night by posting a statement from her attorney, Audrey Msellati, who said Butch has been "the target of an extremely violent campaign of cyber-harassment and defamation."

Msellati continued, "She has been threatened with death, torture and rape, and has also been the target of numerous antisemitic, homophobic, sexist and grossophobic insults. Barbara Butch condemns this vile hatred directed at her, what she represents and what she stands for. She is today filing several complaints against these acts, whether committed by French nationals or foreigners, and intends to prosecute anyone who tries to intimidate her in the future."

During the opening ceremony, Butch was in the center of the tableau, DJing while sporting a silver headpiece and blue dress. In an Instagram post, Butch called her look that of an "Olympian music goddess."............

i made the mistake of going to his place in Livingston during christmas one year, he had chritmas decorations and lights that you drove through his compound.. it was pretty lame, especially since it was like $25 a vehicle. but the worse was the goft shop.. literally $50 for one of his baseball caps.
They had a pot full of hot chocolate, the sign said help yourself, so of course my kids both got a cup. after the fact the cahsier was like, the hot chocolate is $3 a cup.. Ifit was up to me, i would have told my kids to give it back... but my MIL was like, i'll pay for it.. i'm petty about things like that..

Secondly, the US did not put on the Olympics. If people are going to base their vote on the opening ceremony of a sporting event, a SECULAR sporting event, that caused their panties to get in a bunch then they really ought not to be voting. The Olympics have nothing to do with the issues we must deal with in this country.

Ripolio and her 8-year-old daughter, Isabella, walked away with paper bags filled with those peaches, other produce, bread and canned goods — grateful for the help she said they desperately need.

Millions of American children are going without extra food this summer, after 13 states declined to participate in a federal program that helps families in need buy groceries.

Thirty-seven states, four U.S. territories and five Native American tribes are benefitting from the program, according to the Department of Agriculture. Qualifying families with children who rely on school meals to get enough to eat are getting an extra $120 per child this summer to help feed their kids.

Ripolio, who has two school-aged daughters, could have received an extra $240 deposited directly onto an electronic benefits transfer or EBT card, but Republican-led Florida isn’t taking part.

She said she has been helping Isabella deal with some challenging medical issues lately and hasn’t been able to work. The extra money would have really helped by allowing her to buy more basics such as bread, milk and cereal, Ripolio said.

“Are you kidding? I’ve been holding onto $17 for three months,” she said, referring to her dwindling finances.



The federal program known as Summer EBT or SUN Bucks gives money to qualifying families who can then use it to shop at grocery stores and farmers markets. The initiative is designed to help feed children who receive free or reduced-priced meals at school, but who often go hungry during the summer.

According to an analysis by the advocacy group Food Research and Action Center, for every 100 children who received a free or reduced-price meal during the 2021-2022 school year, only 11 got a summer lunch in July 2022.…….

The Justice Department's top watchdog issued a report Wednesday criticizing former Attorney General Bill Barr's management of the aggressive law enforcement response to protests in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2020 that turned violent in the wake the murder of George Floyd.

While DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz determined Barr was not personally involved in the controversial clearing of Lafayette Park to make way for former President Trump's photo op in front of St. John's Church on June 20, 2020, the 168-page report levels numerous criticisms regarding the "chaotic and disorganized" response by Barr and other DOJ leaders to the civil unrest that shook the nation's capital.

"We were troubled by the Department leadership’s decision-making that required DOJ law enforcement agents and elite tactical units to perform missions for which they lacked the proper equipment and training," the report says.

"Multiple witnesses also told us that leadership did not timely and effectively communicate these deployment decisions to subordinates and non-DOJ agencies involved in the response."

The report specifically singles out Barr's efforts to show the DOJ could reign in the violence and vandalism surrounding the protests without military intervention, saying he "pressed DOJ law enforcement components to deploy personnel without sufficient attention to whether those personnel were properly trained or equipped for their mission."……..

A MAGA congressman from Arizona is comparing GOP poll watchers being trained by the Trump campaign to SEAL Team 6 snipers, insisting that these "boots on the ground" must be prepared to counter a "desperate" opposition that will "do whatever it takes to hold on to power."

The congressman, Eli Crane, represents a large swath of northern Arizona. He is a Navy veteran who was deployed with the SEALs, and later created a business selling bottle openers fashioned out of giant 50-caliber rifle shells, a company that was featured on Shark Tank.
A first term congressman, Crane is a member of the extreme-right Freedom Caucus, and was one of eight GOP members who precipitated the ouster of Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House. He refers to Matt Gaetz as a "brother" and recently received Donald Trump's "Complete and Total endorsement!"

Crane is also a conspiracy theorist. He is an avid election denier who has long refused to accept that Trump lost the 2020 election, claiming "massive amounts of fraud." Crane has recently received national media attention for his baseless insinuation that the Trump assassination attempt may have been a plot orchestrated by "people in our government." (Crane's office did not immediately return a request for comment.)

Crane appeared on a July 28 video call organized by the Trump campaign to train volunteer "poll watchers"; video of the event was obtained exclusively by Rolling Stone. The Trump campaign is attempting to mobilize 100,000 MAGA volunteers to monitor polling locations around the country, supposedly to document irregularities.

Poll watching can be a routine part of a fair election. But it also has a dark history of crossing into voter intimidation. In Mesa, Arizona, in 2022, for example, masked vigilante poll watchers staked out ballot drop boxes, wearing tactical gear and toting guns. Marc Elias, a top Democratic elections lawyer, has warned that the Trump campaign is seeking to create a "massive voter suppression operation."

The call was part of a "National Day of Election Integrity Virtual Training" organized by the Republican National Committee and attended by Trump campaign Arizona officials as well as dozens of MAGA activists. Crane touted the call as part of taking back "our country from the Radical Left!"

Far from attempting to lower the temperature of the political debate, Crane used incendiary language from the jump, warning the audience that "our opposition" would do "whatever it takes to hold on to power." Crane pointed conspiratorially to the recent "assassination attempt on our president" as a sign of "just how desperate the opposition is becoming.".................

Ivan Raiklin, a retired Army lieutenant colonel with designs on conducting “live-streamed swatting raids” against the more 350 politicians, federal employees, journalists and others on the list, detailed his plans to about two-dozen police officials gathered earlier this month for a sheriffs’ association conference in Fort Worth, Texas.

Raiklin’s 20-minute presentation to the Texas law enforcement officials took place in a private meeting room on July 22 in a restaurant in Fort Worth, according to a video reviewed by Raw Story.

During his presentation, Raiklin laid out a legally dubious plan in which he suggested the law enforcement officials could investigate various high-ranking Democrats by reviewing their private communications on the social media platform X, and then correlating the geo-located data to their local counties.

In previous interviews on right-wing podcasts, Raiklin has suggested that the communications, were they to be disclosed, would provide digital evidence of crimes that would then justify law enforcement investigations and “swatting raids” — the latter term apparently referring to arrests.

Raw Story has confirmed that at least two county sheriffs were among the law enforcement personnel attending the event, which one sheriff said was hosted by an organization called Texans for Constitutional Sheriffs.

“We are pleading with you at the county level,” Raiklin told the group, adding that he plans to “use capabilities like some people have in this room to sift through all of their digital assets.”

With Trump now facing presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, Raiklin predicted that the next six weeks in American politics would get “spicy,” and he presented a conspiratorial narrative about supposed ruthless “Deep State” agents willing to go to any lengths to maintain their hold on power.

“They may have already assassinated Joe Biden, for all we know,” Raiklin said during his talk, which took place one day after President Joe Biden announced his decision to drop out of the presidential race. (Contrary to speculation by right-wing conspiracy theorists, Biden is alive.)

“They are willing to go to any length to retain their power, and we have to go to the mat to make sure that we get our constitutional order back in place,” Raiklin continued. “And it requires everybody in this room and your colleagues at the county level — local action, national impact — to reset and body-check this lawlessness.”.........
