A far-right candidate for Missouri’s Secretary of State posted an ad filmed on the iconic Speaker’s balcony in the US House of Representatives, where campaign and political activities are banned.

Valentina Gomez posted the video on Tuesday afternoon, which was filmed on the iconic balcony looking over Washington, DC connected to Speaker Mike Johnson’s office in the US House of Representatives…..

The House Ethics Manual says using House buildings or offices for campaign or political activities is prohibited.

However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. For example, a representative’s scheduler may coordinate with a campaign scheduler. A representative’s press secretary may also “answer occasional questions on political matters.”

The Independent has contacted Johnson for comment.

When reached for comment, Gomez told The Independent she wants critics to “stop the hypocrisy” and re-affirmed her support for Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance.

“For all of those crying about a 15 second video. Be upset about the 20 million illegals the Biden-Harris Administration allowed into the United States that are raping and killing American women, or the billions sent to Ukraine’s useless war where brave men and women in uniform are being killed, or the J6’rs that are being persecuted and prosecuted, or the grandmas jailed for praying outside of an abortion clinic,” Gomez wrote.……..

Hey! We're MAGA, and the rules don't apply to us!

A federal court is being asked to overturn same-sex marriage by Kim Davis, a former Kentucky county clerk who refused marriage licenses to gay couples.

Davis became a conservative cause célèbre after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in 2015. Through her lawyers, Davis is now arguing that the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision should be overturned on religious freedom grounds.

Same-sex marriage has been considered legal in the U.S. since the high court's Obergefell decision. It is considered a landmark LGBTQ rights case, and was decided in a 5 to 4 ruling in June 2015.

The Supreme Court decision made it illegal for any state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to deny a marriage certificate to same-sex couples, citing the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

Newsweek sought email comment from Davis' attorney on Wednesday.

Her challenge is an offshoot of a lawsuit taken by a gay couple who were refused a marriage license by Davis.

Davis is appealing a jury's 2023 decision that she should have to pay the couple $100,000 in damages.

In a highly publicized case, Davis had refused a marriage license to David Ermold and David Moore in 2015, arguing that to do so was compelling her to act against her religious beliefs.

In a new brief to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, her attorneys claim that "Obergefell … was wrong when it was decided and it is wrong today because it was based entirely on the 'legal fiction' of substantive due process, which lacks any basis in the Constitution."

The Sixth Circuit has not yet said if it will hear arguments in the case.

Davis is represented by the Florida-based conservative group, Liberty Counsel..............

It's as simple now as it was 9 years ago. You can be a bigot on your own time, but not on the clock as an employee of the government.

So cursing with the F-word is now typical in Republican political campaign ads?

A bankruptcy judge threw out a case brought by the publisher of the Gateway Pundit on Thursday, opening the door for Georgia poll workers and a Dominion Voting Systems employee to move forward with their libel lawsuits against the company.

The Gateway Pundit, a blog known for publishing conspiracy theories about vaccines and the 2020 election results, filed for bankruptcy in April to stop the lawsuits. Jim Hoft, who admitted that he used company funds to buy a condo and a Porsche Cayenne, proposed using $1.3 million from an insurance policy and revenue from the next three years to settle the lawsuits.

But the judge, who sits in the Southern District of Florida, said that's not what bankruptcy is supposed to be used for. She said Georgia poll workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss and Dominion employee Eric Coomer, who were falsely accused by the Gateway Pundit of helping rig the 2020 election, are entitled to move forward with their state-court lawsuits — for now, at least.

"TGP remains both balance sheet and cash flow solvent," Judge Mindy Mora wrote. "There is no present financial distress, no looming foreclosure sale, no prospect of a market crash. There is only the state court litigation in which TGP must defend itself. That's not a basis for bankruptcy relief; it's the justice system in operation.".............

Yeah, my MAGA neighbor...that's all she reads...TGP. would be nice if they went out of business entirely.

The federal judge overseeing Rudy Giuliani’s bankruptcy proceedings threatened to force the former New York mayor to testify under oath about the state of his finances after Giuliani failed to explain how he plans to pay roughly $350,000 in administrative fees incurred in the case.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane in the Southern District of New York said in a written order Thursday that he is holding off on finalizing his decision to dismiss Giuliani’s bankruptcy case and may decide to keep the proceedings going after Giuliani claimed “he does not have the ability to pay such fees” — which must be resolved before the case can be closed.

But Lane, who has been critical of Giuliani’s lack of financial transparency throughout the proceedings, was skeptical of the former mayor’s claim that he doesn’t have the money, citing Giuliani’s ownership of two apartments that are of “considerable value.”

“What little we know about the Debtor’s financial situation makes his stance here more troubling,” Lane wrote. “Even assuming that the Debtor does not have the funds on hand to immediately pay these bankruptcy expenses, he certainly has considerable assets upon which he can draw to pay such expenses.”..........
