There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

They need to get a move on and get this done. This is actually pretty embarrassing for the US, no matter how much I might personally enjoy the R humiliation. And we have some actual important business that needs to be done.

It's why parliamentary systems maybe inherently stronger. This kind of failure to govern would trigger immediate elections.

I don’t think any member of Congress shilled harder for Trump’s lies about the election than Jim Jordan. This is why Cheney snapped at him on Jan. 6 - “You did this”

He's right about 1 thing. He's right that when 75% of Republicans still think the election was stolen, despite the mountains of evidence and court rulings that prove otherwise, that that is a very unhealthy situation. When one major party doesn't believe in any of our institutions of checks and balances, and will blindly follow a con-artist, we have an anarchist party.

Yes, but he is one of the people responsible for that situation. I don’t give him any credit - it’s like giving the arsonist credit for predicting the fire. IMO.

I agree with him but the big issue I have with this - there has to be an end to making this just about the individual and understand it's the direction the party, they support, has gone. These rural voters can't keep voting for Republicans against their own best interests, because of wedge issues, if they really want change. In this case, it's Jim Jordan. If not him, then it will just be somebody else.

Talking about the same 8 who kicked your ally out? Good luck with winning the gavel...

He doesn’t sound very promising for being bi-partisan. He’s blaming the democrats for ousting McCarthy.

Not very many positives, but better than Jordan (this is called damning with faint praise, lol)

Imagine scuttling the speakership of someone who was elected by a majority of the caucus because you refused to recognize the results of the ballot, and then demanding that everyone recognize the results of the ballot if you win:
