There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

The House is in session - you can find on YouTube (house of reps live). Right now they are voting on rules for the approps bills - and then they will vote on the motion to table to motion to vacate.

If that fails, they will move to the motion to vacate.

Looks like there are already 10 GOP votes against the motion to table. It’s going to fail. So the Gaetz motion to vacate is going to get a vote.

Motion to table fails. We’ll have to see when they say they’re gonna vote the Gaetz motion. Could be right now. Or they could recess for a bit.

I don’t think it’s necessarily true that the 11 nays from the GOP will vote to vacate - some could have voted nay because they want to get this no confidence issue over with.

FTR, I don’t think Gaetz is wrong that the House has been neglecting proper budget lawmaking for a long time. His procedural objections and process allegations are solid.
Yep, I got that's sense when listening to him. I don't agree with much of anything else he's doing, but on the budget process, it's a compelling point.
