There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

I will say this though, the Democrats saying it's your mess, then actually voting makes them complicit. They could just vote present and let the Republicans do their thing. Actually voting to oust McCarthy is a vote against contrary to the preservation of the institution. They're in effect endorsing the chaos Gaetz is being accused of. Sorry, but I don't buy that it's solely a Republican problem even though the Republicans are the source of the problem.
They voted for someone else before. Why obstain now? Jeffries is their man, and yeah, they want to put him in place of any Republican. Voting to throw out McCarthy is consistent with their position from day one.

It is solely a Republican problem because they have catered to these bunch of nuts. I have said it all along, sooner or later the nuts come for you. That’s what is happening now.

Gotta disagree. It is their mess. Why should Democrats come to the rescue of a man who they can't trust after he broke deals already made and continuously vilified them in the media to this day. This day was foretold the day McCarthy flew to Mar-a-Lago to bend the knee to Donald Trump.

I suppose that's true, but that won't happen short of the Capitol burning down.

I just got stabbed in the back, but the police wants me to drop the charges. Life’s unfair.
Sure, I just don't think there's any good outcome by voting him out, either for Rs or Ds. It's ultimately participating in the clown show. Their name will be on the vote.

Sure, but again, if one thinks this is a pointless exercise, why would you participate in it? I'm not seeing what they get out of it. More importantly, I don't see what the American people get out of it. The what next is going to be chaos.

a power sharing deal after the clown show? The dems aren’t the ones unwilling to compromise. Objectively unfair to blame them when they arent in power.
You'll see a civil war before you see a power sharing agreement in the House imo. The Republicans will never agree to it.
