I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.


That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?






Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

The establishment and the media are getting very worried that Trump will win in 2024 as evidenced by their ramping up the rhetoric about how the next Trump Presidency will be so much worse.

What a coincidence. They all came out with these same type of articles on the same day. It's almost like it's coordinated.

What an idiotic premise to think that all the competing major news organizations get together and coordinate their stories. They are competitors, so rather than coordination, if one has success with a certain angle, others will pick up the story also. That’s not what is happening here, though.

The main thing in this case is that Trump’s minions are all over the place promising to use the CIA to target news organizations, use the military to punish protestors, and Trump himself has opined that news organizations that criticize him should be put out of business, and generals who criticize him should be charged with treason.

Anyone who thinks this isn’t a story has questions about their ability to see reality.

Could you at least acknowledge that when a Presidential candidate calls a general treasonous because he was criticized by him, and calls for shutting down media companies who criticize him, that it should be a story? Let’s try to live in reality. It’s not a conspiracy among news outlets who compete with each other.

For the millionth time: Trump is indicted because he repeatedly breaks the law. No other reason whatsoever. We are not a monarchy, Trump isn’t above the law, as much as you want him to be.

To the point where they had to pay one company 700M dollars and they have another current lawsuit for a cool $2B. Not one.

I’d be happy to see if he ever even acknowledged that Fox News basically functions as PR for the GOP. But that does explain why his propagandists have to desperately convince him that actual news organizations like WaPo are “arms of the Democratic Party”. The free press is the enemy of the people and all. Authoritarian states don’t just happen, it takes a lot of ground work.

I've never claimed Fox News is reputable organization like you did about the Washington Post. I know Fox News is conservatively biased and carries water for Republicans.

The difference is you claim the outlets that carry water for the Democrats are credible news organizations that we should trust.
