I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.

That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?

Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

The media really needs to do something about misleading headlines

And sometimes it's not even misleading, sometimes the headline is just plain wrong and the actual article says no such thing

The problem is that the majority of the public only read headlines and the media knows this.

It is getting out of control though. It's happening with regularity, or at least seems like it, with some of the mainstream stalwarts as much as it is fake news headlines in a twitter post.

Headline writers often have only one goal - to get people to click on the link. They should IMO be held to the same standards as the people who write the stories.
Editors used to exist for partly this reason. Now that they've been kind of eliminated in the age of digital media, we're stuck with Headline Journalism. There's no way in Hell they could get away with these headlines if they were going through an editor to be printed in an actual newspaper. But since jagoff blogger #3657348 is getting as much and more press than sites with paying advertisers, they revert to anything they can that will get their sponsors clicks.

I’ve seen good articles in the Washington Examiner, but this type of stuff should hurt it’s reputation. The article never pushes back nor fact checks some of Trump’s typical revisionism about his past behavior. I don’t believe it’s labeled as opinion, either.

Anybody knows what's up with Axios? This is a really bad look for them.

"The White House spent much of Friday frustrated by an Axios report that it believes was based on a fabricated letter purportedly written by Ukraine's top national security official.

The Axios story, written by reporter Zachary Basu, said that Oleksiy Danilov had asked the US earlier this month "to go beyond traditional military aid and provide the country with the funding, training and weaponry to support a long-term resistance movement." But Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova later told Axios that she believed the letter was "falsified." And officials at the National Security Council also told Axios they have no record of receiving such a letter from Danilov.

Here's what I have gathered after talking to a senior administration official familiar with the matter: White House and CIA officials told Axios off the record on Thursday that they had no record of receiving Danilov's supposed letter and that they could not confirm its authenticity. In other words, they tried to wave Basu away from it. When Basu published his report anyway, the White House connected the outlet with Markarova so that she could relay that she believed it to be inauthentic. Markarova did so on Friday. Meanwhile, the White House repeatedly asked Axios to retract its story — all to no avail."

Axios has always seemed objective to me. Jonathan Swan is one of the main correspondents and he made Trump look like a total fool in that interview about a couple of years ago.

I am of the standing that all reports from and about Russia and Ukraine are propaganda for one side or the other.

That must make it easy for you to ignore the inconvenient truth and ignore it all.

You believe all reports about that war? Ghost of Kiev, snake island, some canadian sniper announcing via the media he is now entering the battlefield?

Sorry, but propaganda is propaganda despite how it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I don't believe all of it and don't even know of 2 of things you mentioned, but I do my best to differentiate between propaganda and actual valid news. Probably don't bat 1.000 but I feel pretty comfortable I'm in the 90% range. A lot of it is just filtering out noise. Just saying it's all propaganda is the equivalent of saying "both sides". It's not and It's not.

Finally watched enough Tucker to know what your opinion is on the war?
