I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.

That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?

Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

This didn’t fit anywhere but didn’t deserve its own thread. This is the Epilogue to Woodward’s new book. Evidently it details the inner workings of the Biden Admin’s response to Ukraine and Israel-Hamas.

Who is Drudge’s audience? I don’t know too much about them, I think they are conservative?

Drudge once had a big following among conservatives. He soured on Trump before the 2020 election and lost some of his following. He and Trump have been in a cold feud since then. He still has some influence in conservative circles.

For all the viewers of Faux Newz that missed Harris' interview, their official state media anchor has their back.

Can we agree that a huge part of our National Political problem is a corporate media that has mostly abdicated its responsibility to the truth? It’s corporations and capitalism run amuck. Sure capitalism generates wealth, but unless it’s kept on a leash, unless the wealthy see 90+% tax rates, they the wealthy become imbalanced, over powering, they scoop up entities of power and wealth and slowly but surely skew the system in their favor to gather more wealth and squeeze more and more of us.

This is where we are today, it’s why an evil, mentally Ill incompetant who threatens chaos is embraced, by suckers yes, but more importantly by co-conspirators who are willing to gamble on more wealth under chaos, than a responsible society government who will surly reduce their wealth. And the worst aspect is that they are willing to gamble, I’ll go farther and say sacrifice our democracy for the sake of their power and wealth.

"How do I know that the fix was in? There are so many examples that it would take days to detail, so I’ll share just a few."
"For one, before publishing the article, the reporter gave the university more than 130 questions to fact-check and 48 hours to do so, which we did with time to spare - including reaching out to numerous schools, colleges, offices, and units to ensure accuracy. In the final article, many of the fact checked items were blatantly ignored; an example is stating that students in computer science are required to take microaggressions quizzes (not true). Similarly, the reporter cherry-picked research to support his narrative. An example is citing only an article that discounts the existence of microaggressions based on very thin analysis, when there are literally decades of theoretical and empirical scholarship that were ignored that show the reality and complexity of these experiences for people across many identity groups. So many other fact-checked inaccuracies were willfully included - from untrue descriptions of faculty hiring processes and recruitment and admissions work, as well as mischaracterizations of key programs. "
"For instance, while the reporter frames our DEI programs as primarily focused on race, he overlooks that much of the "quarter billion" U-M has invested in DEI over the past eight years (from a $12 billion annual budget) goes toward socioeconomic access and financial aid programs like the GoBlue Guarantee. This program has been key in recruiting students from across Michigan, particularly white students from rural counties."

I just don't know what the NYTimes has become. What is going on with our media?

It's starting to look like the Catholic fascists behind the Heritage Foundation and The Federalist Society have been getting a foothold within major news corporations as well as federal courts and the Supreme Court. These guys are going all in and this election is just as much an existential moment for them as it is for the rest of us. If they lose this election, they lose decades of work and progress.

I personally think they shot their wad too soon, which is good for the rest of us. I think Obama winning twice spooked them out into the open and after getting lucky with Trump in 2016, they got cocky and thought we'd let them run roughshod over us, especially women and non-whites. We might just have collectively let them had COVID not shattered a lot of comfortable illusions and distracting routines.
