The video is NSFW due to language and the graphic description of Joe Biden's alleged conduct.

Sometimes a catchphrase just becomes part of the lexicon and you don't even consider the origin. For example, did you know that saying "God bless you" after someone sneezes is a holdover from the plague? I suspect you use that almost daily and never even think about it.😁

Man I just learned of this recently. Fascinating.

Some of the comments are interesting also, as with all forums of discussion. I am still wondering how this can continue to be hidden/not covered by the left and their news outlets and that not be seen as hypocrisy?

I suspect that it's similar to the way you hated Hillary so much that you excused numerous accusations of rape, decades of philandering, half a dozen bankruptcies, lies by the truckload and a complete lack of social etiquette when you voted for Trump.

I could be wrong. You tell me.

Nice try, but I don't recall him ever running around and saying "no women should be believed." And I don't believe he is saying that this accuser must be believed.

No, it's the believe all women crowd who are on the spot now.

Once again..can we all admit we support people who abuse/assault women? Republicans, Democrats...let's all join hands...

I'm not pointing fingers. I'm far from perfect. Hard decisions must be made. You do you. But if it's a fact....it's a fact.

Nice try? I hit a home run. You're still trying to figure out who was pitching.

You hit a whataboutsim home run. They don’t count for much. It seems tho that’s about all the dialogue we can have here. I get it. Is what it is.

We should all ignore the other poster.

    I answered your question.

The reason people would vote for Biden despite this allegation is simple. True or not, the contempt for the man in the Oval is large and deep enough that people will overlook the accusation even if it were true. It's EXACTLY the same as what you did when you voted for Trump who has been accused of numerous rapes, bankrupted a casino for god's sake, killed a pro football league, and generally been a total horse's petootie for his whole life.

    Right?

It's not about the "believe the women crowd". It's much more simple. Dislike and distrust of Trump outweighs almost any sin by his opponent. And just like you would still vote for Trump if he shot a priest in Time's Square, there are many who would vote for Charles Manson over Trump because Trump is worse.

I’ll do what I always do.

If these allegations are true, Biden should be disqualified from office. Full stop.

It was my stance on Trump, it was my stance on Kavanaugh, and it is my stance now.

But I don’t worship at the feet of Biden, so this is easy for me.

Morally outraged republicans, join with me and stand against men who do bad things.

    I’ll wait.

So this thread is just a big whatabout-ism right? ;)

I think it's a fair whatabout-ism thread, but that's roughly what it is. And yes, I just did a whatabout a whatabout. Very meta.

From my perspective, Joe is at roughly the same level of scrutiny as Trump was, but under far, far less scrutiny than Kavanaugh was. I think it's a fair question to ask what is the correct way to go about vetting someone accused of sexual assault.

This doesn’t have to be a whataboutism thread.

Everyone’s choices on this are the same:

    1) Credible accusations should disqualify you from office.

    2) Credible accusations should not disqualify you from office.

    3) Credible accusations should
disqualify you from office when it’s the other team’s candidate.

All you have to do is stake your claim to which one you agree with. From there, we can make our decisions about you.

    1) You’re a good person.

    2) You’re a reprehensible person.

    3) You’re a reprehensible person and a hypocrite.

But no one likes to play the moral consistency game.

As far as these accusations go, I'm not sure. There's enough there to be concerning (there seems to be some corroboration from the time of the assault, mom's phone call to Larry King, told brother and friend - although we haven't heard from them yet). There's also a lot of mitigating factors. Nature of accusation has changed mostly, denials from others who she said she reported allegations to (but they're also political allies of Biden and may be covering up). So it's messy.

I think we should review the accusations, b/c they are serious (ie, sexual assault is now the allegation instead of being made uncomfortable - which is still serious, but a different category). She should be allowed to tell her story publicly, which she's done, but it should be covered, and Joe should answer publicly - not just through his campaign.

I don't know that the thread itself is really an example of "whataboutism," although it predictably brought out plenty of examples. But then again, almost any topic does.

The over and under for a whatabout Trump post was 1 and no one would bet against that.
