Russia continues to mass assets within range of Ukraine - though the official explanations are that they are for various exercises. United States intelligence has noted that Russian operatives in Ukraine could launch 'false flag' operations as a predicate to invasion. The West has pressed for negotiations and on Friday in Geneva, the US Sec. State Blinken will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Certainly the Russian movements evidence some plan - but what is it? Some analysts believe that Putin's grand scheme involves securing Western commitments that NATO would never expand beyond its current composition. Whether that means action in Ukraine or merely the movement of pieces on the chess board remains to be seen.

VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

There were hints, never quite spelled out, that nuclear weapons could be shifted to places — perhaps not far from the United States coastline — that would reduce warning times after a launch to as little as five minutes, potentially igniting a confrontation with echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

SFL is just so completely out of touch with reality on this subject. It’s hard to believe an American could be so duped by Russian propaganda. It’s disturbing.
The war is basically over and you are still clinging to Ukraine eventually beating Russia. It's obvious you are out of touch.

What a childish exercise. Accusing anyone who criticizes American foreign policy of being duped by Russian propaganda or supporting Russia. The CIA would be proud that you are parroting their talking points.

It's funny that the NATO on their border is untenable when there are already NATO countries on their border. Why is Ukraine treated differently by Russia? The lack of awareness of history by Poots blowhards is pretty telling. It's utter nonsense and sounds a lot like the justifications Nazi sympathizers had for Hitler.
Yawn at the Hitler comparisons. Get a new playbook.

its beyond disturbing at this point and leaves you with only that he is a paid shill for the Russians to consistently pump out propaganda to cause confusion and doubt.

I literally thought his account was a controlled account in the very beginning. I still have my doubts he is fully legit, but im starting to lean that indeed his is and he is just that far down the rabbit hole that he has lost his mental capacity to think things thru. Ill add that he has staked is flag on the hill of disinfo and refuses to acknowledge ANY info that contradicts his stance. For he knows, once he is off that hill, he has lost the ability to shout to the masses. Relegated back to bottom of hill and unheard.
    Is that you George?

Have no idea what the CIA's talking points are. What talking points are you referring to? Or you're just making sheet up per usual?

I don't know about your other views on US foreign policy, but your positions on Russia are clearly on par with Russian propaganda, so....

If that happens to line up with CIA talking points, so be it, but I've never read any CIA talking points.

Nope. We accuse people of falling for Russian propaganda when they actually start pushing Russian propaganda as if it were true. It’s very telling that you go around accusing ordinary people of spouting CIA talking points, when you have fallen hook, line and sinker for Russia.

Once again - where have I ever said that? I don’t know what will happen, but I do have a grasp of reality here and I can tell propaganda from Russia when I see it. You either cannot discern reality from Russian propaganda or you are a cheerleader for Putin. I don’t even care which it is. Either one is bad.

SFL: basically a whole bunch of us refuted your talking points with facts, answered all your questions, and posed a few questions to you. Yet when you returned to this thread you ignored everything that you didn’t want to see and started slinging accusations at us?

    I don’t think that’s an accident.

Once is by chance. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern. We are well beyond three.

I’ll say that you are supporting Russia and falling for Russian propaganda. I will also, imo, note that Taibbi and Greenwand are idiots.

And, no, Ukraine is not losing.

A Putin spokesperson has already floated the idea that Poland belongs to Russia and isn’t really a separate country. I will bet your Putin propagandists never mentioned that did they?

    From earlier this year:

“A top ally of President Vladimir Putin warned Poland on Thursday that the NATO member state was now considered a "dangerous enemy" by Russia and could end up losing its statehood if it continued on its current course.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, made the comments in an 8,000-word article on Russian-Polish relations, saying Moscow now had a "dangerous enemy" in Poland.”

Spokesman? Did you mean ally? An ally floated the idea? Well then we know it's 100% happening right?

I've never called anyone else Hitler. Just Poots. But think what you want if it makes you feel better. The Poots bootlicking is gross though.
Yeah that fits with the video. Comparing Putin to Hitler. You guys have turned Putin in a super villian who is omnipotent and can't be stopped. It's laughable. This isn't a Tom Clancy novel.

This is really, really weak. Do you suppose that any ally of Putin says anything he doesn’t want said? Let me give you a hint - if an ally of Putin says something Putin doesn’t like, he will probably “fall” out of a third story window pretty soon.

The complete lack of self-awareness here is simply stunning. You, who thinks the CIA is feeding all of us our thoughts omnipotently, and thinks thousands of scientists are conspiring to fake out everyone about the origins of Covid, and thinks that the FBI is stirring up insurrections to make MAGA look bad - you - dare to utter that sentence? OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪

Accusing me of falling for Russian propaganda is along the lines of your favorite message board tactics. Use general statements and avoid specificity when trying to refute something when you have nothing to say. You never point out what is supposedly Russian propaganda. You just hide behind vague statements and act as if it's a real response.
