Russia continues to mass assets within range of Ukraine - though the official explanations are that they are for various exercises. United States intelligence has noted that Russian operatives in Ukraine could launch 'false flag' operations as a predicate to invasion. The West has pressed for negotiations and on Friday in Geneva, the US Sec. State Blinken will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Certainly the Russian movements evidence some plan - but what is it? Some analysts believe that Putin's grand scheme involves securing Western commitments that NATO would never expand beyond its current composition. Whether that means action in Ukraine or merely the movement of pieces on the chess board remains to be seen.

VIENNA — No one expected much progress from this past week’s diplomatic marathon to defuse the security crisis Russia has ignited in Eastern Europe by surrounding Ukraine on three sides with 100,000 troops and then, by the White House’s accounting, sending in saboteurs to create a pretext for invasion.

But as the Biden administration and NATO conduct tabletop simulations about how the next few months could unfold, they are increasingly wary of another set of options for President Vladimir V. Putin, steps that are more far-reaching than simply rolling his troops and armor over Ukraine’s border.

Mr. Putin wants to extend Russia’s sphere of influence to Eastern Europe and secure written commitments that NATO will never again enlarge. If he is frustrated in reaching that goal, some of his aides suggested on the sidelines of the negotiations last week, then he would pursue Russia’s security interests with results that would be felt acutely in Europe and the United States.

There were hints, never quite spelled out, that nuclear weapons could be shifted to places — perhaps not far from the United States coastline — that would reduce warning times after a launch to as little as five minutes, potentially igniting a confrontation with echoes of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

I don't know what the actual numbers are, but it's quite obvious that they are overestimating the Russian casualties and underestimating the Ukrainian loses in their recent campaign to try to save face and claim that Russia has lost the war.

    yeah everyone underestimating....

just from one assault in Avdiika

you continue to neglect that Putin actually does use "cannon fodder" on assaults. Literally 100s of men a day are sent to attack with rifles, handful of magazines and 2-3 grenades against armor/infantry/drones.

And the ones that RETREAT are either shot dead or imprisoned for "rehabilitation"

with U.S. and European aid to Ukraine now in serious jeopardy, the Biden administration and European officials are quietly shifting their focus from supporting Ukraine’s goal of total victory over Russia to improving its position in an eventual negotiation to end the war, according to a Biden administration official and a European diplomat based in Washington. Such a negotiation would likely mean giving up parts of Ukraine to Russia.

guess it aint quietly no more lol

Why do you have to keep posting Glen Greenwald's propaganda BS?

Nobody with a hint of intelligence takes that guy seriously.
You focus on Greenwald so you can avoid the subject at hand.

We are shown yet another person saying their was a peace agreement in place before or at the beginning of the war, but the US and the UK made sure that didn't happen. What's you take on that?

I think it’s unproven Russian propaganda.

Do you automatically default that something is Russian propaganda if you aren't aware of it or are skeptical of it?

What the Ukraine Ambassador Chalyi said is Russian propaganda? How so?

GG is a huge conduit for propaganda straight from Moscow. Whatever he says is propaganda until proven otherwise. He’s one of the worst grifters out there.

Just like your response in the covid thread, you hide behind vague accusations without offering any specific details that support your claim or discredit what I posted.

I asked you how what the Ukrainian ambassador said is Russian propaganda. You ignore that and went straight to the MSNBC like talking points.

I will not get into an argument with you about GG posts. He’s a propagandist for Putin. Full stop. It’s bad enough that you insist on posting Russian talking points on here all the time.

You won't even comment on what the Ukrainian ambassador said 😆

I don’t care what was said because the source was GG.

Oh, look. The original tweet got a community note. The tweeter is also a Russian propagandist evidently.

Swing and a miss. That wasn't the orginal tweet. That was a totally separate thread. He posted that tweet from February 5th that got a community note to show what he said in that tweet was accurate becuse it has now been confirmed not only by ex-Israeli PM but also by head of Ukrainian delegation, Ukrainian ambassador who participated in talks, officials close to Zelensky, ex-German chancellor involved in talks, Turkish FM, Putin, Lukashenko, former senior US officials & Zelensky adviser Arestovych.

You can go on ahead and believe your conspiracy theories and believe your Russian propagandists all you want. You’re being played.

Why can't you talk about the subject specifically?

I think it's pretty obvious that you have nothing to refute it and it goes against the narrative that you believe in so you just stick with the vague statements.

I don’t care to get in the weeds with you on conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theorists can never be reasoned with anyway. They will just pivot to some other conspiracy. I’m evidently a slow learner (heh) but I have finally learned that arguing with you is pointless and stupid.

Conspiracy theorists are extremely hard to reach. They will stubbornly stick to their conspiracies no matter what.
