A couple of days ago, one of the main US-MX border points of entry was blocked by 1000's of migrants demanding entry into the country, which caused chaos for those who lawfully cross the border on business, for work, or for delivery of goods, both ways.

Lawful border crossings are getting progressively worse across the border, and drug cartels are finding it easier to move product, as the CBP has to transfer personnel and efforts to the processing of migrants.

It's not different on MX's South border. Yesterday, ~5000 migrants stormed into Chiapas all the way to the INM building (INM is immigration) running over fences, barricades, and elements of the National Guard. They are now taking over an ecological park in Tapachula, Chiapas, which it's going to be severely affected, as it's been the case with just about everywhere migrants squat.

Unfortunately, Juan Trump (that's Donald Trump's pet name for the President of México) was bamboozled by his "friend" Donald into making MX a "lobby" for migrants trying to reach the U.S.

Many people would argue that migrants are "good for the economy", but that is not always the case. Billions of dollars leave the U.S. economy every year, because migrants send money from the U.S. to other countries to support families there. The biggest destinations are India and MX, to the tune of 100 billion dollars in 2023 alone, according to the Bank of México (kind of like the MX version of the Fed). These billions of dollars do not circulate in the U.S. economy.

Speaking of inflation, the past year, the U.S. dollar has lost ~20% of its value against the MX peso. One of the main reasons for it, is the amount of money being sent to MX from the U.S. And MX is the U.S. 2nd largest trading partner.

Gregg Abbott is a lot of things, but I don't blame him for his attempts at curbing the hordes of people demanding entry into the U.S., even the busing of migrants to other States, making some put their money where their mouth is, like the Mayor of NYC, who was so welcoming of migrants, until he he got a taste, then went crying to the federal government for more money, while the shelters were at full capacity; shelters which BTW serve the NYC poor as well.

And please, no one mention a wall. There is a wall. A wall can be climbed; a wall can be dug under.; holes can be punched through walls.

"Since thousands of Texas National Guard troops have been sent to the border, there have been four reported suicides by guard troops stationed on the border, including a death in Laredo on Oct. 26, 2021, according to an investigation by the Army Times.

There also have been suicide attempts, according to the Military Times and Texas Tribune."

This is something that really needs digging into. While I know the military is facing a rising trend of suicide, that number in one group in such a short time is an outlier. What is going on with the Texas National Guard down there at the border that is leading so many troops to take their own lives?

probably because they see how bad those people have it and can't understand why some people in charge wants them shot on sight..

I think Abbott wants a physical conflict between the Texas National Guard and border patrol agents. It'll make him feel like a tough guy, even though he's sitting safely in his office far away from any possible harm. He doesn't care what happens to Texas National Guardsmen or border patrol agents. He suffers from Napoleon complex.

I don’t think there would be a physical conflict. I am not sure, but I read that Biden can nationalize the TX national guard for cause, putting them under military command.

There’s always been a symbiosis between Donald Trump and right-wing rhetoric. His 2016 campaign for the Republican presidential nomination was successful — surprisingly successful — because of his willingness to embrace arguments and assertions that were considered beyond the pale for his more traditional opponents.

By picking out and then defending (to whatever extent was necessary for his audience) claims about immigrants and terrorism, among other things, he tapped into a strain of argumentation that was often kept out of sight. He helped bring the rhetoric into the mainstream.

On Sunday, CBS News presented the results of a new poll conducted by the polling firm YouGov — results that offered a stark example of this pattern, of how even extreme right-wing arguments are now barely outside the norm.

Respondents were asked by YouGov whether they agreed with Trump that immigrants entering the United States illegally had the effect of “poisoning the blood” of the country.

This is not just right-wing rhetoric, mind you, but a reflection of some of the most extreme racial politics in modern history. It is an explicit depiction of immigrants as dangerous, but specifically in the context of posing a threat to national identity. It is the language of fascism.

Nearly half of Americans agreed with it.

That was largely because more than three-quarters of Republicans agreed with Trump’s framing. Fewer than half of Democrats and independents agreed.

Interestingly, when the comments weren’t attributed to Trump, support was lower. Republicans were 10 points more likely to indicate agreement with Trump when they were told it was Trump with whom they were agreeing. Democrats were slightly less likely to agree.

Overall, the difference between being told that the comments came from Trump or not being told that was not statistically significant............

    Full post:

The Biden administration once again pushed a false narrative at the border, now refuted by their own DOJ.

White House claim: “On Friday night, a woman and two children drowned near Eagle Pass, and Texas officials blocked U.S. Border Patrol from attempting to provide emergency assistance.”

DOJ filing: The migrants had already drowned at 8pm, and Border Patrol didn’t inform Texas until an hour later at 9pm.

This, like the horseback patrol “whipping” claims - took off as a false narrative, generating headlines that claimed Texas blocked a federal rescue effort, leading to the drownings of three migrants. The DOJ now confirms, those migrants had been deceased for an hour before Texas was even alerted about it.

So like usual your sources are completely biased. The WH went with information from the Border Patrol at the scene, and now investigation may possibly show something different, and of course your source says they pushed a false narrative. It isn’t pushing a false narrative to go with what you are told from people at the scene and then revise it as facts become known. It’s insane to call it that.

Two things, did the Border Patrol know they were already drowned? One would reasonably assume they didn’t or they wouldn’t have been trying to get someone to help them. Did the TX troops know they were already drowned? One would have to assume they did not, as they were being informed of the situation by the Border Patrol.

So we still have the same situation as before. Border Patrol ready to help people in trouble and TX troops preventing them from doing so even though the Border Patrol has clear jurisdiction over this situation. So it really isn’t even a false narrative.

Do you approve of state troops impeding the Border Patrol in their mission?

The Biden Administration gets caught pushing a false narrative just like the Border Patrol whipping immigrants, but you try to act like the Biden Administration was just going by what the Border Patrol told them. Does the Biden Administration usually put out press releases without confirming what they said was true?

They did confirm what was true and if you read what they said - it is still true. They don’t say anything but the facts.

The Border Patrol became aware of people in trouble in the River and were prevented from helping them by the TX troops physically stopping them from entering the area.

Do you agree with state troops interfering with the Border Patrol’s mission and access to the border?

If the Federal Government won't protect the border then they should allow the states to do it. Biden wants open borders.

That’s just a lie that Biden wants open borders. A huge brazen lie that is being pushed by people who advocate for the Great Replacement Theory. Why has Biden requested increased funding for border enforcement every single year if he wants open borders? Why does he ask Congress to fix the system if he’s fine with it the way it is?

TX in this case is preventing the Border Patrol from accessing the border. The Border Patrol is there and wants to do their job, but TX troops are denying them access to the border.

How is that, which is just fact, reconciled in your mind with your statements above? It’s just simply nonsensical.

They just want to do their job by letting all the immigrants in who have no legitimate asylum claims?

Yawn at the great replacement theory. It's hard for people on the left to make an argument without falsely accusing people of being racists, antisemitic, white supremacist, Russian supporters.

The Democrats love the Great Replacement Theory.

How do we decide they don't have a valid asylum claim?

The constitution requires that all persons here are entitled to due process.

No doubt, our system that adjudicates asylum is overwhelmed. Biden has pulled and trained people from all over USCIS to work credible fear hearings, it is still not even close to enough.

The INA is not built to deal with this type of problem. When these laws were written, the people applying for asylum weren't from countries who could walk here, it never imagined having what amounts to refugee camps near our southern border.

Congress needs to do their job.

The Biden Administration ended the policy to stay in Mexico while their asylum claims were processed. Why would he end that policy? Because he wants all those immigrants released into the country for when the Democrats eventually get amnesty passed.

They weren't following it anyway. The wait time became so long, that they just stopped using that system.

Once they step foot in the US, we have to give them due process. The remain in Mexico policy didn't really punish anyone who just ignored it. If they made it across the border and into the US, their asylum claims still had to be heard. It didn't take long for people to figure that out.

You can keep using this to complain about Biden, but it's not going to solve the problem.

2019 had more illegal crossings than any time during the Obama admin. If the president had any control over it, that would not have been the case.
