Why do you think they didn't stop January 6th if they had many confidential informants high up in the Oath Keepers?

We know how bad the FBI has looked for their confidential informants actions in the Whitmer case. I'm not saying that happened for January 6th, but we have learned enough about the FBI in the last few years to be suspicious.

What happened in these cases?

Was it a set up or did they go to prison for plotting to kidnap the Gov. Of MI?

That’s right. They went to prison, just like the Oath Keepers are going to.

Consider your sources. That's all I'm gonna say.

Since Rep. Liz Cheney accepted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s offer to serve as the vice chair of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Wyoming Republican has exerted a remarkable level of control over much of the committee’s public and private work.

Now, less than six weeks before the conclusion of the committee’s work, Cheney’s influence over the committee’s final report has rankled many current and former committee staff.

They are angered and disillusioned by Cheney’s push to focus the report primarily on former president Donald Trump, and have bristled at the committee morphing into what they have come to view as the vehicle for the outgoing Wyoming lawmaker’s political future.

Fifteen former and current staffers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, expressed concerns that important findings unrelated to Trump will not become available to the American public.

The feuding brings to the fore a level of public acrimony within the Jan. 6 committee that previously had largely played out behind the scenes, as public attention was focused on a series of blockbuster public hearings focused on Trump’s role fomenting the attack.

Several committee staff members were floored earlier this month when they were told that a draft report would focus almost entirely on Trump and the work of the committee’s Gold Team, excluding reams of other investigative work.

Potentially left on the cutting room floor, or relegated to an appendix, were many revelations from the Blue Team — the group that dug into the law enforcement and intelligence community’s failure to assess the looming threat and prepare for the well-forecast attack on the Capitol.

The proposed report would also cut back on much of the work of the Green Team, which looked at financing for the Jan. 6 attack, and the Purple Team, which examined militia groups and extremism……..

Couple of thoughts. Anonymous sources are anonymous sources. Also, friction among committee members is hardly new. This doesn't surprise me in the least.

It's always been clearly that for Cheney, Trump is public enemy #1. She's not gonna be interested in getting sidetracked by other stuff uncovered by the committee. That stuff can be handled by the DOJ. The committee doesn't really have the enforcement power that the DOJ does. The committee can cause problems for some key players, but I think getting into other stuff can slow down getting this done before it's disbanded by the Republican majority House in '23.

Washington (CNN) — The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol has decided to make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, the panel’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, told reporters Tuesday.

Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, said the committee has not narrowed down the universe of individuals who may be referred.

Asked whether Thompson believed any witnesses perjured themselves, he said, “that’s part of the discussion.”…….

These folks are under consideration for criminal referral:

The panel is weighing criminal referrals for former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, right wing lawyer John Eastman, former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and Trump's former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, the sources said.

No wonder people hate Ted Cruz:

The "Cruz effort" was a coup taking place in broad daylight. Delay for the ten day audit, use that time to sow doubt and rally against allowing "contested" electoral votes to count, and after ten days either reverse the contested votes to Trump votes or just disqualify them from the final count, allowing Trump to claim victory with a majority of the counted electoral votes (or, with Trump still short of 270 votes, to send the vote to the House, where the Republicans would have a majority of votes to declare Trump victor).

It's shameful that so many people who worked to thwart our democracy are still allowed to hold office.

I don't think that's new. It was known even before Jan 6 that some Senators, Cruz and Hawley among them, were going to attempt this.

They shouldn't be in office, no doubt. But what they did isn't surprising.

My big questions remain around who knew and organized the rioting on the Hill. If any Congressperson did, they need to be shown the door, and sent to prison.

I actually think the folks on the inside who tried to do the “legal” coup are worse than the rioters. And the rioters are terrible people who deserve to go to jail.

But these lawyers and elected representatives knew the election wasn’t “rigged”. To a person, they knew the results were valid. They worked like hell scheming to deny the people of the US the representation they voted for. They should be thrown out of office and denied any future offices in this country. They should all lose their ability to practice law. They’re traitors is what they are.
