Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I kind of chuckle at this when you look at the candidate that won the election.....flawed? That is hilarious.....we've got flawed to infinity now about to take control of the WH.....

2 things can be true at the same time... not a terribly hard concept... For example - Saying 2 +2 = 4 is a true statement.... But also 2 x 2 = 4 is also a true statement.... Different... but both true. You're welcome.

No one was arguing or even remotely suggesting that Trump is / was not a severely flawed candidate - That's not in dispute at all... The comment was about people portraying Harris as the Mother Teressa of candidates... which if you have any sort of ability to not lie to yourself... Is also laughable.

    Steve,
Can you tell us an ACTUAL reason she lost that is valid? The ONLY one I can think of that many Americans would use to support Trump is that they are anti-abortion. I think Kamala would've tried to pass legislation to protect the right to abortion nationally, and some people oppose that. I can't think of any other valid reason. All of the other reasons I've heard are not supported by facts or are against our values, such as ceasing support to Ukraine and arguably completely cutting off Israel. I suppose you are one of the closest things to a MAGA whisperer on this forum, so is there an ACTUAL valid reason besides abortion, or was it all just feelings?
The talking heads on ABC, NBC, CBC seem to feel it was all about the economy early in the Biden Administration vs the economy early in the Trump Administration. Are you better off today than you used to be? That kind of thing.

It's extraordinary for anyone to voice their misogyny, but I heard a couple of people tell reporters that a woman isn't fit to be president.

Just like the polls that show the reason people voted for Trump was because of his "Ability to Lead". Yeah, okay. Like if we didn't live through COVID. :haha-rire-395:

It's a world wide trend. They are not wrong.

Trump won primarily by running up the margins in rural white America.

If you think Michelle Obama would have changed that, pass the pipe.
I saw some people interviewed who said: "I don't actually like Trump, but I have a family to feed and I am just voting my wallet."
Someone like that MIGHT have voted for Michelle O?

    Why? Just because of popularity?

I bet most people can't even remember a single horrible event that happened during Obama presidency.

Halcyon days for most people. Why wouldn't you want to return that? Why wouldn't you trust them to fix whatever you think is broken?

I don't know, but that doesn't really seem convincing enough. People can make up any number of excuses, real or perceived.

I'm sure there's something about her laugh or something else insignificant that would rub people the wrong way when it come to voting for her.

No, because a lot of them aren't dumb enough to say the quiet part out loud and in an interview no less. The comments are more a cover for what they really feel. Trust me, I know this demographic well. Two of my boys are part of this group and I talk with their friends often enough.

That can't possibly be true. The economy is in the tank, or so I am told by voters. 🥱

We can blame the Democrats and the Inflation Reduction act, Chips Act and Infrastructure act for these horrible developments. Until Republicans take credit for it, that is.
We built our first data center and EV plant when trump was in office but ok.

Who have no idea what policies Trump will enact that will affect his/her wallet.

    unbelievably uninformed.

i said it a few pages back- folks dont care WHY lettuce is $3, they just care that it IS $3. So when someone says " ill lower it" 500x in 3 months, they tend to believe them.

Even if there is not a shred of proof of how they will- other than "ill do it"

    path of least resistance.

Right.....you couldn't be more wrong....don't know if they will be successful, if the guardrails will hold, but I have few doubts that they are going to try to implement it.....have you even read Project 2025? Is that what you want for this country?

One side has completely gone insane and wants a Christian fascist nation and to relegate women to 2nd class citizens, the other side has its faults but hasn't gone batshart crazy....
I’m assuming then that you don’t support men playing women sports or taking women’s scholarships etc? Or are we allowed to pick and choose the rights that make them second class?

Shapiro or Newsome at the top of the ticket with the other at VP is the only combo I can think of that had a genuine opportunity to change the outcome. Waltz is a nice guy but seems a little goofy and unserious.

Michelle Obama changed nothing in the areas where Trump excelled, which was in the margins. I like Mayor Pete but with anti-LGBTQ hysteria being such a motivating issue in rural America I don't think he would have been the answer.

To beat Trump you needed someone that could appeal to the white working class and rural America while not bleeding off support among black and Latino men. You needed someone who wasn't tied to the inflation or perceived issues at the border and could talk about the path forward instead of defending what was.

One of the places I agree the J-Donk, if Biden had simply not run again and allowed a true primary Dems would have had a better chance. Doing it the way he did there wasn't much of a choice but to go with Kamala for fundraising and demographic reasons.

He ran on an inflationary policy just to prove this point.
