Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

...The country is about to find out what a completely Republican controlled government looks like.
And that needs to happen! This country needs a reboot because the stupid has spread through it like a virus, Musk was right about this one thing: Americans are going to have to experience some hardships before gaining prosperity. With Trump, Musk, Vance and his puppet master Theil gaining total control of the US government, any resistance the Dems put up will be futile.

Good job, America...the shining city on the hill has gone dark.

And they'll keep losing elections. I'm not saying they have to give up everything in their platform, but they do need to change it. I mean, Trump won't run again, but I'm sure someone will try being another Trump and just repeat that formula. The Democrats need to figure out how to win these elections. What they're doing isn't working. The country is about to find out what a completely Republican controlled government looks like.
If it were Republican controlled, I wouldn't worry. It's gonna be MAGA controlled, that's what is going to flush us down the drain.

Y'all wanna argue that Kamala wasn't elected through a primary like that's the problem? F that noise. The problem is America. The problem is that over half of the electorate in this country decided that a rapist, thieving, felonious con artist suffering through an obvious mental decline that openly vows to punish anyone who disagrees with him is a better fit for president than a black woman. We as a country are broken, period. And when the dust settles, all of the butt crevasses that voted him into office will be just as forked as the rest of us and still TOO forkING STUPID to see that it's their gosh darned fault.

I mean this sincerely- fork every single person who didn't step up to the plate. fork the GOP. fork the enablers. fork those who couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman. fork third-party voters who foisted their "perfect is the enemy of good" holier-than-thou bullshirt on everyone else. NATO is crippled. Ukraine is done. Israel is going to go on committing war crimes and atrocities with Trump cheering them on. And don't forget forget about SCOTUS. You know Thomas is forking done, Alito probably as well. The SC is going to fork over the American people for the next 20 years. This country is toast. It's been a nice ride. Shame so many butt crevasse ruined it for the future generations.

I agree with all of that, but you still ultimately have to look in the mirror and ask why people aren't choosing the Democratic Party platform.

I'm a believer in personal responsibility, and also collective responsibility. If the Democrats want to win elections, they'll need to be willing to look in the mirror and figure out what went wrong. If they don't, they'll keep losing elections. The Republicans aren't going to change much of what's working. There's no reason to.

I voted for Harris. No regrets, but the process and how we got to this point was indeed flawed. Biden didn't have to run. A truly open primary likely leads to a different outcome. Obviously just my opinion and there's not really much we can do at this point.

I'm just baffled that this country yet again elected Trump. I agree with another posted who said he wished Trump won in 2020. We wouldn't be having this discussion now. Sigh.

I'll say it. A black woman diminished her chances. Which is a forking shame it is still like that in this country.

Also every time a Republican forks things up badly a D gets voted to clean up the mess. Which is a slow and sometimes painful process, and then the Rs blame them for everything not going right (usually problems they caused).

That's what you're going with, that the process was flawed? Are you shirtting me right now?

By every objective measure, Harris is an infinitely better candidate than Trump. I don't give two shirts about how she came to be the nominee. Hilary, Biden, and Kamala were all infinitely better. Only Joe won. That speaks volumes about the misogyny of this country. The biggest thing the Democrats did wrong was run a female candidate because this backward-arse electorate can't get behind a woman in charge.

Everyone with two brain cells to rub together and a 10th-grade education can see that what the Republicans are doing that works for them is lying their arses off and stirring up fear and hate. If that's what wins them elections, this country is even more forked than we thought.

I want to say this as clearly as possible: The Democrats did not lose this election. The fascists won and America lost.

The only part of that I disagreed with were the first two questions.

As if SCOTUS couldn't be more forked up, wait until Aileen Cannon is sitting there. That is the direction we are headed in.

If this was true we wouldn't see so much split ticket.

Candidate quality will always matter. I think Harris did a great job with a horrible situation. I'm not going to pretend she didn't have massive flaws, or questionable overall campaign strategy.

I don't know how anyone looks at this and doesn't blame Biden.

Look, way back in 2010 I said Kamala Harris would be our president someday. Someday isn't over. It's just not now.
