Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

…….Last week, some conservative talking heads started telling on themselves. “In a Christian marriage, a wife should vote according to her husband’s direction. He is the head and they are one,” Dale Partridge, a prominent pastor and author, posted on X.

On the Megyn Kelly show, Charlie Kirk called the Julia Roberts ad “repulsive,” and “disastrous” and “the embodiment of the downfall of the American family.”

And Fox News personality Jesse Watters told viewers that learning his wife voted for Harris would be “D-Day,” or, “the same thing as an affair … What else is she keeping from me? What else has she been lying about?”

In the manner of a total buffoon accidentally falling on a salient point, Watters is actually asking the same kinds of questions I have been asking myself every time I read a story like June’s, or about another secretive split-vote relationship.

How can someone stay married to another person if they can’t be honest about the issues that are important to them and the kind of world they want to live in?

What is this election revealing about us, and the relationships we have, and how we can continue having them?

I get why Charlie Kirk thinks the Julia Roberts ad was so unsettling: It is told entirely from a female point of view, full of eyerolls and winks delivered behind men’s backs. The husbands are not the heads of households, they’re the butts of the joke.

Their sense of world order is about to be undone by the women in their lives grabbing democracy by the ballot box. (When you’re a registered voter, they let you do it.)

Not for nothing, genders couldn’t successfully be reversed in these campaigns — an ad depicting husbands secretly voting for Trump to stick it to their wives would come across as misogynistic rather than impish. Instead of a twangy guitar, the soundtrack would be “Ride of the Valkyries.”…….

This is the US of A and we get to vote however we damn well please. If his religion doesn't allow that, the problem isn't the US of A. The problem is his religion.

So GA, Mich and Wisc do not report any info on party, just numbers of votes (in person and mail)

So the numbers are just not accurate.

it was in tiny print somewhere in the middle of the page, but "Reporting states with party registration data: AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, ID, IA, KS, KY, ME, MD, NE, NV, NJ, NM, NC, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, UT, WV, WY

Note: Party registration statistics are for states that have party registration. These statistics are not actual votes. By federal law, election officials do not begin counting ballots until Election Day, although they may start the process of preparing ballots for counting in advance."

This is the most encouraging part though

About 2x the normal difference between men and women, IIRC.

Also, he’s just spewing one delusional lie after another. His entire campaign is in on this, in fact most elected GOPs are going along with this. They don’t care if their supporters get fooled so bad it drives them to commit violence or break the law in some way when they realize the truth. It’s all pathological behavior.

And the man who made this necessary?

Oh, for some reason he was allowed to run for president again
============

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than two dozen states have indicated they would be willing to send National Guard troops to Washington if requested in the weeks following the presidential election and in the runup to the inauguration, Guard officials said Monday.

The District of Columbia has not yet made any formal requests for Guard troops, but officials across the government have been preparing for the possibility that the U.S. Capitol could once again be rocked by violence around the certification of the election by Congress on Jan. 6 and the inauguration two weeks later.

About 25,000 Guard troops from around the country flooded into Washington in the days after the deadly Jan. 6, 2021, riot, when thousands of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol in an effort to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s win.

The troops, along with local and federal law enforcement, locked down the city for the inauguration, securing the Capitol, monuments, Metro entrances and the perimeter of the central part of the city.……

This guy writes about Trump’s psychological state and he makes a great point. It tracks with his unusually graphic violent fantasies he’s had about Harris and Cheney recently. Also, as someone said - notice the violent fantasies almost always involve women. He’s so mentally sick.

Copy/paste from Twitter due to length.

“Trump, moments ago: "They (the migrants) took the young girls, and they sliced them to death with knives. They didn't shoot them because it was too quick."

One component of Malignant Narcissism is Sadism. People don’t fathom how deeply Trump is driven by it. In normal people, those types of impulses are offset by caring emotion. Trump has none.

He enjoys chaos, actually takes glee from others' suffering. He enjoyed telling this story, even though it wasn't true.
He defames women he's raped. He makes fun of others' disabilities.

And he didn't just foment an insurrection, he savored it - even more so as it grew violent.

He's feeling sadistic because he is losing, knows it's his fault, and can't process the new emotions he's really feeling - shame and depression. And terror.”

Lady Gaga is performing now at the Philly rally. They had Katy Perry at Pittsburgh I think and others at Raleigh and AZ. Gaga is so far the best performance. Harris was at Pittsburgh and traveled to Philly to close out the night. Goodness she has put everything into this race.

And Walz started this evening at a rally in Milwaukee and is now in Detroit. Crazy.

Edit: embarrassing to admit, but I am not sure who the female performer was. I have it streaming on a little window in the corner of my IPad and I thought it looked like Gaga and had read that she was performing tonight. I am reading it was Christina Aguilera. She sounded great, though, lol. I’m not super familiar with either one of them.

Okay - so confirmation that the Trump campaign is hurting for money. The top numbers in the first tweet are not apples to apples because the Harris total is multiple days. The second tweet is apples to apples and it shows over 500k for Harris to 19k for Trump!

Tim Walz’ voice is shot. You can hear it compared to earlier in the campaign. I’ll bet he’ll be glad to take a few days off.
