Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

    Did I pass...???
Those aren’t yes no questions. What is considered far left for those items. Taxes for example for far left is tax the wealthy excessively and redistribute to lower income either through free services and/or cash distribution.

Not sure what you mean by fair chance to win my vote...? She's a known commodity. A hard left Cali-Lib with very little moderation in her policy, obvious liar, with the personality of a cringey uncle. She's the mirror opposite doppelganger of everything I don't like about Trump.

I told you... until the 2 party hyperbolic insanity stops... neither major party national candidate for POTUS gets my vote.

And illegal boarder crossings can be be a misdemeanor or felony under federal law, depending on the circumstances... not that it matters... it has to stop... and their have to legal paths made available to stop the madness that has occurred over the last year... instead of the status quo that's being kept as a tool to separate and farm more votes... neither side wants to really fix it... never have... it's a great issue to pit us against one another.

Twice in the past 8 years there have been serious attempts to pass border bills in congress that would have gone a long way to addressing the problems on the border. First at the beginning of the Trump administration when Democrats were on board for tougher border policy in exchange for DACA and increased legal immigration. The second time was this past attempt that again had serious border enforcement provision for increased legal pathways to citizenship. Both time Trump/Republicans killed those efforts.

It's just not accurate to say Democrats are for open borders when they have been the ones to push and work with Republicans on these substantive bills only to be torpedoed repeatedly by Republicans. It's more accurate to say that Republicans talk about the border but do nothing to actually solve it, as opposed to Democrats are willing to do substantive things to fix the border but just don't really want to talk about it.

Also, if we were talking about things that truly harm Americans, we would be talking about our gun policy and not immigration. But Republicans never want to talk about that.

Which is why I answered the way I did... because the politicians on the Far Left have never done/implemented in any form what you just stated... In fact, some of the richest, most powerful, and least taxed Americans... are on the far left of political isle and openly donate to keep it that way. (not saying they aren't any on the Right... because there damn sure are) - just pointing out how my views are going to differ from your usual canned points of separation.

We don’t incarcerate civil violations. Border crossing is not a criminal infraction, just civil.

Everyone comes in without being turned away. What she clearly said in that clip was to not incarcerate families. Immigration violations are civil with the exception of re-entry violations after a law was passed in the 20’s. Catching and sending people back to their country of origination when they aren’t seeking asylum isn’t an open border.
Who is being turned away under the Biden administration? He's literally flying illegals into the country.

When people can just cross the border, submit themselves to border patrol to be released into the US many people would consider that open borders.

The idea of letting anyone in is considered an open border policy by MAGA supporters. There was a bill that went to congress earlier this year that would have alleviated the current problem but for some reason Trump didn’t want it passed. Glad his election is more important than border security.
That bill was a joke. It wouldn't have helped to control border. It would give more money to the NGOs who was supporting the illegals coming in and some window dressing about Mayorkas being able to shut the border down if a certain number crosses daily. Why in the world would we give more power to Mayorkas who has helped facilitate the illegals coming in?

The House passed a real border bill back in 2023 that would have addressed a lot of the major border issues. The Senate refused to take it up because they don't want the border secured.

The Republicans want the illegals to keep coming in for cheap labor and the Democrats want them as eventual voters.

Harris just picked up a nice endorsement. Maybe it’s possible to have some re-unification, away from the complete crap show that is Trump. And no, infoman, I’m not trying to convince myself of anything. I can easily contrast what Harris stands for and what Trump stands for, and I realize the clear choice that is presented. Trump stands for himself, and nobody else. His pathology won’t let him do anything except what is best for him in the immediate moment.

Anyway, here’s her first GOP endorsement, as far as I know.

Ok, you are unwilling to answer some simple examples to give context on what you consider Far Left. Thanks for not participating. Anything you say about Far left is just bull I guess since you can’t even give context about what a Far Left Liberal is. I heard her say stuff in 2020 in a debate. No what stuff she said, just she is far left.

How does she skip Prime Minister Netenyahu’s speech…. How does any Democrat skip his speech. What an embarrassed lap in the face to an ally.

Yeah, the 2023 bill that they wouldn’t even compromise on with absolutely no support from Dems. The 2024 bill had support from both sides until Trump said don’t do it because it will improve the situation.

Building a facility is separate from a policy of family separation.
Yes it is, but he brought up the cages.

The Biden Administration has separated families as well. It wasn't done at the pace of the Trump administration, but they did do it.

Right now, the Biden administration is asking the public to weigh in on ways the U.S. government can minimize the separation of migrant families. The request was prompted by the ongoing work of a task force set up to address family separations that made headlines under the Trump administration’s Zero-Tolerance border policy. But that program was just one in the myriad of cruel deterrence and enforcement programs that continue to separate parents from their children and cause lasting harm to migrant families.

Families suffered separations well before the prior administration and continue to suffer from separations resulting from deterrence programs championed by the Biden administration. Today, these policies play out across the border and in the interior, pulling families apart and destroying communities:

The Biden administration routinely separates families through detention and deportation as part of its interior immigration enforcement practices, without meaningful policies designed to protect family unity

She had a long-standing commitment to speak in Indianapolis today to a group that only meets every other year. She will have a private meeting with Netanyahu when she gets back to Washington. I’m sure wherever you read about it you were not given the context though. You were also probably not told that Vance is also skipping the address to campaign. You even may not realize that her husband is Jewish.

It’s discouraging to see how things are spun up regardless of truth.

Infoman there are quite a few folks on your side who misdescribe me as being a commie, they call every Democrat that, and that doesn't make a lick of sense.

I separate the hard core MAGA, from your softcore Republicans, and deal with all as individuals. Two groups trying to be in one party, it isn't going well.

I don't stereotype you. Please don't stereotype me or Harris as being a hard core liberal. She's not hard core.

She's a fairly middle of the road Democrat like me, not a hard core lefty as you're trying to cast her. That she's middle of the road is what I like about her, she'll heal this left-right division in this country.
I find it hilarious that people would call her (or the overwhelming majority of US Democrats) anything other than center-left.

I'll mean, if she's hard left, what the heck would you call someone who believes in common ownership of the means of production?

How does she skip Prime Minister Netenyahu’s speech…. How does any Democrat skip his speech. What an embarrassed lap in the face to an ally.
Just going to focus on the "embarrassing (s)lap in the face" from the Democrats that weren't there, while claiming to be non-partisan. Doesn't add up at all.

Well, what he wants is for that same bill if he is president. He can then claim to have fixed the border.

"I forced those DEI Democrats to pass MY BORDER BILL. It's the greatest legisilation since the constitution. Some say it maybe even better. "

No - I am unwilling to get into a pissing contest with you because you feel the need to pick apart pre-canned policy differences with no intent on taking nuance into account... I realize you feel the need to put me in a box that makes you more comfortable... I know what you want to hear so you can rant on like you probably normally do in partisan discussions about politics... sorry I don't participate in that game. You know what she said and did... You know what's too far one way or the other... I'm not your huckleberry sir/madam.

Lack of knowledge on my part. I felt as the VP she maybe should have been there but was unaware that she was meeting with him tomorrow.
