Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

There was no shortage of false claims and exaggerations offered by former president Donald Trump during his conversation with Elon Musk on Monday night. Working feverishly, fact-checkers might be able to publish a delineation of all of them shortly before the heat death of the universe.

But there was one claim that seemed as though it deserved its own special place in the spotlight. One claim that, while not a new element of Trump's repertoire, is such a good encapsulation of his general approach to reality that walking through it seemed as if it might offer readers some useful insights into both Trump and the state of the world.

Musk and Trump were talking about geopolitics when Trump pivoted to discuss existential global dangers — in his fashion.

“The biggest threat is not global warming, where the ocean’s going to rise one, one-eighth of an inch over the next 400 years. The big — and you’ll have more oceanfront property, right?” the former president said. “The biggest threat is not that. The biggest threat is nuclear warming, because we have five countries now that have significant nuclear power, and we have to not allow anything to happen with stupid people like [President Joe] Biden.”

We can start by noting that there are nine, not five, known nuclear powers, the sort of thing that former presidents might generally be expected to estimate more precisely. But our focus here is not nuclear weapons but, instead, Trump’s claims about sea levels.

Trump often dismisses the threat posed by rising sea levels by suggesting that they are minor or insignificant. Speaking to Musk, it was an eighth of an inch over 400 years; how could anyone be worried about that?

But that is nonsense.

“Global mean sea level increased by 0.20 (0.15 to 0.25) m between 1901 and 2018,” the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change wrote last year. “The average rate of sea level rise was 1.3 (0.6 to 2.1) mm yr between 1901 and 1971, increasing to 1.9 (0.8 to 2.9) mm yr between 1971 and 2006, and further increasing to 3.7 (3.2 to 4.2) mm yr between 2006 and 2018 (high confidence).”

Putting that in American, sea levels rose nearly eight inches from 1901 to 2018. From 1901 to 1971, the rise occurred at a rate of about 0.05 inches a year. That increased to 0.07 inches until 2006 and since has jumped to 0.15 inches. In other words, sea levels are rising at more than an eighth of an inch annually, not over the next four centuries...........

Okay, Trump argues, but that just means more oceanfront property! Win-win!

Believe it or not, Trump is wrong again. If you have a defined area of land that’s surrounded by water, an increase in the height of the water means that it covers more land. The result is less land touching the ocean, not more...............

In a span of 8 min @SaintForLife posted 6 replies- all without links to disinfo, misdirection or lies.

I coalesced them all here for everyone to read his OWN replies- not whats fed, but his OWN replies.

What is clear is his "victimhood" - his thought pattern is the same each and every time. Cannot debate substance where there is no substance. Cannot have a single original thought out reply- its literally 1-2 sentences ( or 173 characters ) and he disengages.

its pretty amazing to witness just how powerful social media can be on folks and how it then manifests into what we see and deal with daily.
One of those was a reply made to me. "When is Willie Harris’s mattress going to do a press conference or an interview?"

I'm wondering why he's trying to direct the topic off, onto Square Bob Sponge Pants. You know down under the water in the lagoon.

I don't have a lagoon.

I'm glad you admitted that and that you don't care. When the manufacturered sugar high from the least popular VP wears off you guys are going to be upset.
When Trump loses again, MAGA is going to finally die the death it has needed to die for 12 years and the real republican party will return. Besides, MAGAs don't care that their party has become the Trump disinformation machine.

When you call anyone else out for posting things from anonymous people on X let me know. You guys complain about me doing things many of y'all do as well, but yall never complain about others doing the same thing.
The sources being anonymous was just one of the problems with your post. There was also the glaring bias of those sources, the misrepresentation of what little content there was, and a complete lack of any actual evidence for that little content.

To put it bluntly, the problem is not simply that you're posting things from anonymous people - anonymous sources can be fine if the content can stand for itself - the problem is that you're posting garbage from anonymous people, who at best are themselves completely lacking in critical thinking skills, and at worst are deliberately taking advantage of other people who lack those skills.

The context of this is that the GOP is running around the yard like a chicken with it's head pulled off.

I suppose there are city folks who have never seen that happen. It happens more where chickens are made.

When you can't get me to agree with you the insults come next. Do you not realize you follow the same pattern every time?

Papa Trump. How clever

LOL

SFL, I KNOW you won't agree with anything that is negative about Trump. I'm not directly insulting you really. I'm making fun of you.

It's hilarious the mental gynamstics required to blame Senate Republicans for the border bill, instead of Trump. He asked to be blamed. He didn't even use your excuse.

Oh yeah. The real republican party that supported the National Security State, the military industrial complex, the forever wars movement, trusting the FBI, CIA. You can have it and the Democrats have basically switched places with the Republicans on those issues.

Moving the goalposts. Either way, when you call out anyone else about how they post get back to me. Until then your partisan complaining isn't fooling anyone.

Former Biden domestic policy adviser Susan Rice called the idea that Vice President Kamala Harris wasn't "a key part" of the current administration's policies "somewhat bizarre and offensive."

On MSNBC’s "Andrea Mitchell Reports" Tuesday, the host asked about Harris' reported plans to highlight "unfinished pieces of Biden's policies" as part of her campaign.

"How important is it for her to find a way to differentiate herself from aspects of the Biden agenda? Maybe move the ball, put an emphasis on other things? How does she do that and still be loyal to the fact that she worked with Joe Biden?" Mitchell asked.

"I think it’s very important to remember that this has been the Biden-Harris agenda. Kamala Harris has been an integral architect and executor of the policies of the Biden-Harris administration," Rice said.

It will be hard for her to both claim she was involved in the Biden agenda while also trying to separate herself from Biden’s policies.

Shouldn't those reporters be mad at her for doing that? They should, but they probably aren't mad.

"Vice President Harris is supposed to travel everywhere she goes with a press pool. We just learned that she left her press pool behind to attend an event at Howard University."

I agree with getting out of Afghanistan. We never should have stayed, but it was the perfect boondoggle for the military industrial complex.

I do disagree with the way we got out of Afghanistan and leaving all the military equipment for the Taliban to use was a breathtakingly stupid decision.

The Taliban was celebrating the third anniversary of taking over the former US air base as they trolled the US with some of the $85 billion in military equipment.

"The Islamic Emirate eliminated internal differences and expanded the scope of unity and cooperation in the country," said Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir.

"No one will be allowed to interfere in internal affairs and Afghan soil will not be used against any country."

JUST had this convo w/ daughters boyfriend over weekend-

Told him that these women, married to MAGA men, when they enter that booth, can pull lever for Harris or whoever else, and walk out saying "I voted for Trump" and no one will know the difference.

Smart play.

I think the larger takeaway is it's sad that apparently so many MAGA men seem to think they can control their wives and demand who they vote for in the 1st place.....ridiculous....

So what you're saying is that the Democrat party has moved closer to center and the MAGA movement has moved to the Alt Right/Q/Conspiracy/Anti-Establishment. I think you're correct. It's an anti-American, anti-constitution, authoritarian Plutocracy movement that only represents itself and not all Americans.

who responsible for that?

What goes around comes around. 11% of voters in a Marguette University poll think Harris is too old to be president. 58% think Trump is too old which is a 5% increase over May polling.

11% think Harris is too old?

Isn't she 58 or 59? and isn't that prime presidential age?

JFK, Clinton and Obama are the youthful outliers
