Election Night (+4) in America - Result: Biden Elected President (10 Viewers)

welcome to me 2016 election night lol

Yeah but I could kinda understand due to the candidate.

This here makes absolutely no sense to me from a pure candidate perspective.
    I'll never understand this.

Even if Biden pulls this off with mail in, I simply can't understand how this many folks pulled the lever for Trump.
I guess it's party over country.

My friend that lives in NC is pretty crushed. From everything I know NC is pretty much a bipolar state. A big chunk is pretty liberal, but another is pretty (R). I kept trying to encourage him, but Biden's lead evaporated and now it looks like trump is ahead there.

It’s like many states - there are several metro centers that are progressive and sophisticated (Charlotte is a banking and healthcare center, the Raleigh/Durham research triangle with its universities, hospitals, etc.). But outside of those several metro centers, it is heavily old school red meat GOP. What’s interesting is that rural NC has seen a lot of Latino immigration (much of it undocumented) but that has only gelled the rural/Ag NC demographics.

Obama lifted a blue wave in 2008 including the election of a female Democrat governor (who happens to be my Uncle’s wife - I went to the inauguration). But that only strengthened the resolve of the Republicans to not let it happen again. Some of the most abusive suppression tactics have occurred in NC (that have resulted in some pretty scathing federal court rulings).

I think the demographic trends continue to favor progressives as a function of growth but the default is still on the red side

Like I was telling my daughter. If this holds, I don’t want to hear about the youth vote, I don’t want to hear about the minority vote, don’t want to hear BLM. All a bunch of garbage.
If he wins, all this is just more taking points and hot air

    I just want to know
Yeah it ain't over yet, Biden definitely has a chance.. but it'd be a more narrow victory than we wanted..

Still a lot to play out
Trump is the worst president in modern history. It shouldn't be close. America is at a cross-road. I think this is an embarrassment around the world. Even if Biden wins, I don't think anyone should ever trust the wisdom of our electorate. If Trump was just marginally more decent, he would've won easily. He could still be an idiot and evil, and still win.

didnt you mention on SR that you went #2 in one of the bathrooms at the Governors mansion during the inauguration? Or did I imagine that?

It's not a bunch of garbage. We literally have a massive number of right wing, theocratic sympathizers in this country. Piss on all of em.

Haha, sort of. It was the next day at the family breakfast at the mansion. The inauguration wasn’t at the mansion.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I did have a security detail for the weekend, which was pretty cool - especially driving around in an unmarked trooper cruiser and he could do whatever he wanted.

After the inauguration my wife and I and and my cousin and her husband all went out on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. Our details were there in the bar with their ear pieces in. People were wondering who the hell we were.

Trump is crushing his overall numbers from 2016.

haven't seen you post in a while... welcome back? :D
I think it is like a lot of things. It starts off, a lot of support, then people get annoyed and fed up and it turns to distaste.

    Trump is dominating, imo.

    I hate to say it.

In all seriousness that is the problem I have with this...regardless if Biden wins or loses the American public has a serious character problem that can't be fixed with just a Dem or hell even a "human" president for just 4 years. There is some serious soul searching that needs to be done, but given our apparent low standards it likely won't happen.

If trump wins...the divisions will cut deeper and God knows what'll happen next.
