    https://www.foxnews.com/us/135-teachers-charged-child-sex-crimes-this-year-alone

"At least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested so far this year on child sex-related crimes in the U.S., ranging from child pornography to raping students.

An analysis conducted by Fox News Digital looked at local news stories week by week featuring arrests of teachers and teachers’ aides on child sex-related crimes in school districts across the country. Arrests that weren't publicized were not counted in the analysis, meaning the true number may well be higher.

The analysis found that at least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested in 41 states between January 1 and May 13, which works out to about an arrest a day on average."

I said on this board a while ago that eventually that public education will over take the catholic church sex abuse scandal. While I not sure what will be bigger but the toll taken on kids demand we look into this. 135 educators in less than half a year. Terrible. I didn't know where to put this, so I created this thread.

I haven't given it much either on the numbers.
What do you think? What do you think would be a fair salary for the added scrutiny of having classrooms record with audio and archived?

Why the hell am I answering your suggestion? How about this: we agree that pay needs to be higher, yes?

It was your suggestion that they be archived as well, so I was asking if you had a idea on the increase that is needed. You asked me that same question, did you not?

I did. I just read every response you made in this thread. I saw no answer. Please link the post in which you give the answer so I can read it again. To reiterate: Can you explain how eliminating tenure and implementing parental review surveys will eliminate sexual predators from the ranks of educators since tenure does not protect sexual abusers and surveys will provide zero information on sexual abusers?
Can you explain to me how eliminating tenure, there by making teachers more aware of parents wishes, and giving the parents the ability to complete work survey, there by making the teachers and staff more aware and subserviently to the parents wishes, will not work to weed out groomers in a private school system?

I don't imagine anyone needs the removal of tenure or the heartfelt thoughts of parents to know that the parents don't want the staff to sexually abuse the students. Do you think tenured teachers know it's wrong to sexually abuse students?

I said I support teacher wage increases. You are the one who said it will yield specific results, so I assumed you actually thought it through. That's my bad.

And for the record, there are over 3 million teachers in the public school system around the country. Your laughable 40 billion figure doesn't even cover current wages, let alone increased wages and new jobs.

You seem to think all opinions are created equal and deserve the same consideration. You are wrong. Uninformed bullshirt like what you spew on this board deserves zero consideration.

I haven't given it much though, this was *your* suggestion. As of 2020, the average public school teacher's salary was $63,645, with the highest average in New York ($87,543) and the lowest average in Mississippi ($45,192). You have said that raising teacher salaries will weed out predators and abusers from the ranks of educators. How much of a percentage bump would be enough to do that?
    Approximately tree-fiddy

    hopefully, but obviously not all

Then why are you conversing with me about it? Out of emotion? Usually happens when you start throwing out 'curse' words to accent an emotional point.

I proposed 40 billion as an add on, not the budget. Instead of sending 40B to Ukraine use our money here.
I am well aware that stupid people often have stupid ideas.

Boredom. And I assure you that cursing is a normal part of my gosh darned vocabulary.

That would bring the country's total public school budget north of 600 billion. If private companies are footing a bill that big, where does their profit come from? Or are they doing this out of the goodness of their corporate hearts?

So nothing to worry about or try and correct? Got it.
Plenty of things to worry about and correct. Let's start with the foster care program, and this overall obsession some people have with molesting kids.

Just because I'm pointing out that schools seem relatively safe compared to everywhere else, doesn't mean I don't want to fix all of it. Just that we should consider starting elsewhere to do the most good.

Are you willfully misinterpreting what I said, or just not understanding my point?

Most people are stupid. Why are parents the experts in education? What's their training?

I personally think I have a powerful voice in my children's public schooling, and I've used it. I don't see an issue here, and no one has been groomed to be anything, other than a better, smarter, more educated version of themselves.

They will make money, if not, the privatization of the government run schools would not work. Like I said, it will take someone much smarter than me to figure out if my idea is even feasible. I think it is though.

I understand your point, but I disagree. I think the problem in schools is probably the most important issue we face a nation right now. Damn sure bigger than Russia, China or Ukraine.
If you want to talk about how to try solve the problem of pedophilia in our society, I am all for that!

I think we have different opinion on what make a kid better, smarter and more educated. That is fine too.
Their training is that they are their kids and no one has more stake in their futures. If a parent doesn't want this in the class of elementary kids, who is in the wrong? The school/teacher or the parent?

    How are they making money?
I would guess either money from the taxes collected, although I would prefer direct payment from families to the schools of choice rather than have the non-elected bureaucracy get their hands on any of it.

Or, even better, no one gets the money and the kids are educated in a home school system.

The kid asked and the teacher answered in an appropriate way that was easy to understand. They even say that they did not seek out this conversation and did not intend to have it until it was brought up. Why do you have a problem with kids trying to be courteous and respectful?
