    https://www.foxnews.com/us/135-teachers-charged-child-sex-crimes-this-year-alone

"At least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested so far this year on child sex-related crimes in the U.S., ranging from child pornography to raping students.

An analysis conducted by Fox News Digital looked at local news stories week by week featuring arrests of teachers and teachers’ aides on child sex-related crimes in school districts across the country. Arrests that weren't publicized were not counted in the analysis, meaning the true number may well be higher.

The analysis found that at least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested in 41 states between January 1 and May 13, which works out to about an arrest a day on average."

I said on this board a while ago that eventually that public education will over take the catholic church sex abuse scandal. While I not sure what will be bigger but the toll taken on kids demand we look into this. 135 educators in less than half a year. Terrible. I didn't know where to put this, so I created this thread.

I would guess either money from the taxes collected, although I would prefer direct payment from families to the schools of choice rather than have the non-elected bureaucracy get their hands on any of it.

Or, even better, no one gets the money and the kids are educated in a home school system.

So your options are giving tax money to private institutions that are not subject to governmental oversight, making families pay out of pocket, or removing easily accessible education from a vast majority of families.

You say that it will take people much smarter than you to figure it out. You are right and they have figured it out. You just don't like it, so you want to burn it all down.

I think we have different opinion on what make a kid better, smarter and more educated. That is fine too.
Their training is that they are their kids and no one has more stake in their futures. If a parent doesn't want this in the class of elementary kids, who is in the wrong? The school/teacher or the parent?

The more I read, the more your position makes no sense to me.

"But the impromptu conversation about my non-binary identity made me realize that kids are more open than I gave them credit for. More importantly, I felt responsible for fostering an environment where all my students would feel accepted and affirmed for their identities.

So I incorporated a conversation about chosen names and pronouns into the first day of my next session of classes. I started by asking if anyone in the class had a favorite nickname. A student volunteered, “My full name is Alejandro, but no one calls me that. I’m really Ali.” When I asked why he liked this name, he said, “I don’t know. … I guess it just feels more like me.”

“I totally get that,” I replied. “It’s the same way I feel about my nickname ‘Meb.’ I like when students call me ‘Meb’ rather than ‘Ms.’ because it feels more like me.” I told students that it’s important to me to use language to describe them that feels right. I shared my hope that this can help everyone feel like their best self in our classroom."

This teacher is fostering an environment of acceptance and is empowering their students to exercise agency in their identities. If you don't like that, fine. Don't send your kids to public school. Wanting to prevent others from choosing to send their kids is the problem.

Indoctrination -- be it from the left or right -- is what's wrong with this country. There needs to be a neutral place where kids can get basic facts and instructed on standard subjects without any political tinge... including religion.

The answer is not to privatize it, the answer is to make the public schools better and more standardized. People still have oversight -- I believe most school boards are elected. The problem is now we have a lot of dumb parents out there who fill their minds with political garbage and you end up with equally dumb school board members.

The kid asked and the teacher answered in an appropriate way that was easy to understand. They even say that they did not seek out this conversation and did not intend to have it until it was brought up. Why do you have a problem with kids trying to be courteous and respectful?
Do you really think I have a problem with kids being courteous and respectful? Or, do you think I have a problem with a teacher that is so involved with themselves that use any excuse to talk about how unique and special they are? I have a problem with gender ideology in an elementary school.

What about the parents that don't want their kids being force fed this gender theory? Their concerns don't count? We have to pick one way or the other if this is a public school for all. If not, you can send your kids to the "Biden Academy of Trans Gender Acceptance and Inclusion" if you want. It is your money to educate your kid as you see fit. Those that don't want to send their kids to that kind of school, we can pick the "Trump School of Excellence".
See, everyone is happy, except for the groomers who can't confuse all the kids.

I would argue those dumb parents that fill the kids with political garbage are a by product of activist teachers who fill their kids with political gender and racial theory.
I agree that education should be neutral, including religion, unless it is a religious school, then that is up the parents, as is their right.
I think the best way to accomplish that is privatization but I am all ears for suggestions on how to make the public school system more 'neutral'.

I would argue those dumb parents that fill the kids with political garbage are a by product of activist teachers who fill their kids with political gender and racial theory.
And I would argue there are dumb parents created by silly religious teachings (or perversions of religious teachings that are merely right wing politics backed by religious iconography, see, e.g., megachurches). At the end of the day a person should be free to ascribe to whatever beliefs they want. Once you hit 18 and off on your own you are free to indulge in far left politics or join the seminary. The problem is people are too partisan to put their own brainwashing aside (whether it being overzealous wokeness or overzealous sky man told me this is bad) to compromise on basic stuff like math, science, and slavery happened.

And pretending 'grooming' is happening in the public schools on some widespread level is just taking the right-wing bait. Or if it is... it's probably limited to California.

The teacher literally kept it to herself and planned on keeping it that way until they were asked. That's not using "any excuse to talk about how unique and special they are." It's answering polite and respectful questions.

Exactly. You can pick any damn school you want. That's a valid option. What's not a valid option is burning it all down because you're terrified of people different than you existing in the same space.

Or Dallas. Another drag show for kids. How brave.
So, it comes down to who get to indoctrinate the kids? Groomers that are not sure what their gender is and needs to discuss it with a 4 year old to get self affirmation or a parent. The left has picked the state, the right has picked the parents.
Now we just see who wins.

Sure. Why did the kids ask those questions?

Yawn. Yes, everyone who is against gender theory in elementary school is a bigot. You won the internet.

So you have a problem with those parent being able to choose to bring their children to a drag show in Dallas?

You aren't against gender theory in elementary school, though. You are against public schools, period.

So you have a problem with those parent being able to choose to bring their children to a drag show in Dallas?
Yes. Would you have a problem with parents taking their children to burlesque/strip show? Would you have problem with parents giving children money to put a dollar in the underwear of a stripper?

You've never spent time around children, have you?
    No, never even seen one.
They asked the question, because the brave teacher explained that she was non-binary to a kindergarten class. She was so desperate for affirmation that she needed it from her 5 year olds. That is healthy. I wonder if that teacher ever spent time around kids before.
