    https://www.foxnews.com/us/135-teachers-charged-child-sex-crimes-this-year-alone

"At least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested so far this year on child sex-related crimes in the U.S., ranging from child pornography to raping students.

An analysis conducted by Fox News Digital looked at local news stories week by week featuring arrests of teachers and teachers’ aides on child sex-related crimes in school districts across the country. Arrests that weren't publicized were not counted in the analysis, meaning the true number may well be higher.

The analysis found that at least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested in 41 states between January 1 and May 13, which works out to about an arrest a day on average."

I said on this board a while ago that eventually that public education will over take the catholic church sex abuse scandal. While I not sure what will be bigger but the toll taken on kids demand we look into this. 135 educators in less than half a year. Terrible. I didn't know where to put this, so I created this thread.

I feel like all this thread proves is that Farb doesn't understand the Catholic church child sex scandal.

Farb, go watch a movie called Spotlight. It has a great cast, and easy to follow.

He understands it, he just wants to point out what he thinks is an equivalency to downplay it...

I have. I am all for it. I am 100% of doing away with the government schools. Unfortunately, if you want to keep your kids out of public schools you get a bad wrap.

Are you 100% for doing away with the Catholic Church in this country? If not, then why not?

I don't know. It averages to 1 a day since 1.1.2022 so that is what set off the alarm bells for me, and to be fair, I have an ax to grind with the public school system as a whole. Are the alarm bells biased in my head. Absolutely. However, that does not mean that they are not valid and worth a huge investigation.
I mean it's in how you look at it there but I'm inclined to say that the raw numbers and percentage of individuals you're talking about within the profession would be more germane in determining if there's some sort of an overarching issue within American public school systems.

What should be investigating outside of the particular individuals and crimes?

Am I to read into the 'huge investigation' comment that you believe there's a generalized and possibly systematic culture of permissiveness towards pedophilia and child sexual abuse within our public school systems. If so, I'm curious as to what other evidence you're seeing that's leading you to that conclusion.

I am well aware of the evil the pedophiles did to the church. I have never defended it and any priest or other member of the church that committed sexual crimes on children should be put to death.
The thing I don't understand is why when we are discussing pedophiles harming kids the left always has to point to the church as in whataboutism is the way to protect a possible broken institution. It is a pretty bad look to be honest.

Why would I want to do away a church in this country? That doesn't seem very freedomish does it?

Farb, you opened this thread with a comparison to the catholic church sex scandal. You even made an assertion that public school sex abuse > catholic church sex abuse.

You can't complain about whataboutism when you made the comparison.

I think we can agree that this is never going to happen. Short of that, what would you suggest be done to better weed out these predators from the ranks of educators?

This whole thread is whataboutism, Farb, it was posted on the very day that another huge church scandal broke about the Southern Baptists. They evidently have done the same thing the Catholic Church did (and do we know that it has stopped? In either Church?). They covered it up, they punished the victims, they enabled the pedophiles to continue preying on children. For decades.

Show me a public school that did the same, if you can. I honestly haven’t heard about it.

Until we see that sort of behavior from public schools, we aren’t really talking about any sort of equivalency. And the numbers (compared to totals) don’t indicate any sort of epidemic in the public schools.

So tell me how this thread is anything but an attempt to smear public schools while ignoring two huge church scandals? It’s a huge whataboutism festival, this thread.

You might as well ask how to weed them out of society. That is not to minimize the problem but to merely point out how difficult it is no matter where an abuser is.

Oh, that is conversation I would love to have. LOL

Why do you think that is impossible? Why do we have to have our present system of public education that has failed miserably.

You say it has failed - why do you say that? There’s no objective fact or figure you can point to that shows this failure you speak of. Nothing has done more to further the US middle class, or lift poor people out of poverty than our public education system. There have been local failures, but to speak of the entire system as a failure is just not reality-based.

With what would you replace free public education?

Which is why I will stop responding....Farb is a class A troll....nothing more....

Doesn't matter why I think that. Why do you choose to focus on the feasibility of closing public schools instead of on ways to better discover and remove predators, which was the entire point of this topic?

@Farb - do you think the teachers who shielded their students with their own bodies during the shooting two days ago were the outliers, or are the ones who abuse their students are the outliers?

The teachers who died probably got what they deserved as they were employees at a public school system and from that we can infer that they were likely pedophiles and child abusers anyway.

If he was moral he would have done us all a favor and left the kids alone and just taken out teachers, assistant principles, groundskeepers, etc.

Yes, the ignore feature is awesome on this site. And I understand you probably won't reply, but why do you consider me troll? Can you give me a specific example?

Geez, don't ever let a tragedy go to waste. Do you think I should even bother responding to that?

I think I have seen this from you in the past, your views are irrelevant and you don't have to respond to questions, but I have to respond to all questions or I am a troll. Yeah, not playing that game.
