    https://www.foxnews.com/us/135-teachers-charged-child-sex-crimes-this-year-alone

"At least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested so far this year on child sex-related crimes in the U.S., ranging from child pornography to raping students.

An analysis conducted by Fox News Digital looked at local news stories week by week featuring arrests of teachers and teachers’ aides on child sex-related crimes in school districts across the country. Arrests that weren't publicized were not counted in the analysis, meaning the true number may well be higher.

The analysis found that at least 135 teachers and teachers’ aides have been arrested in 41 states between January 1 and May 13, which works out to about an arrest a day on average."

I said on this board a while ago that eventually that public education will over take the catholic church sex abuse scandal. While I not sure what will be bigger but the toll taken on kids demand we look into this. 135 educators in less than half a year. Terrible. I didn't know where to put this, so I created this thread.

Then why not say that without attempting to defend the groomers? Why try and compare different 'walks of life'?

I do find it odd that since there has been light shed on the public school system from the public in the last few months, this happened. Just wait until more school systems are force to take this seriously.
The groomers? ha ha. No such thing.

Well, apparently, they just caught 137 of them, so I disagree.
They caught 137 pedophiles. And that's out of how many teachers?

If you're afraid of society move to Alaska.

That was a poor, thrown together article that really doesn't contextualize anything therefore it's hard to make sense of this.

Do you feel the same about the catholic church, military and the Southern Baptist Convention or just the public school teachers? If so, then why bring them up in defense of the government school teachers?
    Want to know why?
Because you are told that our public school system is fine and everyone who complains about it are right wing conspiracy nutjobs and possible white domestic terrorists, so you have to defend the system.

I went through the system, didn't hurt me.

If you're afraid, try Kodiak Island:

I just don't know what those numbers mean man.. what number there wouldn't have set off alarm bells for you?

Just saying that without some sort of context it's difficult to say because it's fairly obvious that out of a large enough group of people such as public school teachers you're going to get some percentage that are pedophiles and child molesters.

Is the percentage of public school teachers that are pedophiles and child molesters higher than the average for the population at large?

I've heard that most abuse occurs from within the family, or from close friends. If that's true I'd find it hard to believe that public school teachers have a higher percentage of pedophiles than the population at large.

I'll also say that if there's evidence of systematic cover-ups and such then yeah you have an explosive story.. that is what makes the Catholic Church stuff so terrible even beyond the acts themselves imo.

I have no dog in the fight as far as defending public schooling on something like this.. I would just need more information to determine that there's some specific, widespread problem going on there.

There are 3.5 million public school teachers and teachers assistants. 137 of that 3.5 million is .0039% of the public school teachers. That's not even including administrators or support staff. Even if you double that it's .007%.

Every one of those crimes should be investigated and prosecuted to the maximum. But I don't think those percentages indicate a sprawling crisis in public education as it concerns child molestation.

Every single one of those people should be prosecuted like you said (which really goes without saying).. but it is what it is, if you told me there were 3.5 million teachers and then told me to guess how many pedophiles/child molesters would be within that group I would have probably guessed somewhere in the hundreds if not the thousands.. because that just seems to makes sense within any particular grouping of 3.5 million individuals.

Is 'okay, groomer!' the new 'okay, boomer!'? Anyway, I don't have much to say about this without any kind of relative comparison to the overall percentage of pedophiles in society at large. If the proposed thesis is that the public school system somehow cultivates pedophiles then you've got to to put forth some more evidence before I buy into that other than 'the government always effs things up so it must be true.'

Are these public schools keeping the teachers employed, and moving to different schools? That was a big part of the Catholic school sex scandal. The scandal wasn't just instances of child abuse. The Catholic church protected the pedophiles, and covered up the scandals.

You are trying to create an equivalence. What evidence do you have that the state is covering up child abuse in the same manner as the church?

You have weird rants about public schools. It's not some monolithic state body. You can run for your local school board if you want to engage with the system and change it. You can also choose to avoid public schools with a plethora options available in the state of Alabama.

    135/3,500,000 = .0000386 = 0.003.9%= 3.9/10000 teachers were convicted of sex abuse.

1 is too many, but in context it's not an epidemic.

And 3,500,000 is just teachers, i'm not sure what the denominator is if you factor in teacher aids, which i suspect is disproportionately represented in the number of abusers.

I don't know. It averages to 1 a day since 1.1.2022 so that is what set off the alarm bells for me, and to be fair, I have an ax to grind with the public school system as a whole. Are the alarm bells biased in my head. Absolutely. However, that does not mean that they are not valid and worth a huge investigation.

Well, to be fair and inclusive, Pedos are now to be called 'minor attracted person'. We don't want to place a stigma on Pedos these days. They have feelings too.

This was just the first story that some actually went through and tallied these, which is wild to think that it was not done sooner. I do think there will be cover ups shown in time, but right now the school boards are in a 'war' with parents so I think more and more will start coming out now that people have some idea this is going on.

P.S. The government does always eff things up

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crim...eged-sexual-conduct-with-a-student/ar-AAXGgyh

"TWO RIVERS (WLUK) – A Two Rivers high school teacher has been arrested, accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a 17-year-old student.

Police say they are recommending three counts of sexual assault of a child by a school instructional staff person against the 34-year-old woman.

Both the Two Rivers School District and the Two Rivers Police Department believe there are no other victims in this case.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing and police say they will not be releasing any further information at this time."

for fun, I googled 'teacher arrested today'.

Who told you that, Tucker? or some other crazy person that no one cares about except right wing alarmists?
