Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

"We can't do that to the country",

"A trial would tear the country apart",

"For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

Interesting, we’ll see what comes of this

The Justice Department late Monday night released part of a key internal document used in 2019 to justify not charging President Donald Trump with obstruction, but also signaled it would fight a judge’s effort to make the entire document public.

The filing comes after a federal judge excoriated former U.S. attorney general William P. Barr — and the Justice Department more broadly — for their explanations of how and why it decided not to pursue a criminal case against Trump over possible obstruction of the investigation by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

The Justice Department filing is likely to both fuel and frustrate Trump’s biggest critics, particularly Democrats who have long argued that Barr stage-managed an exoneration of Trump after Mueller submitted a 448-page report into his findings about his investigation into whether the 2016 Trump campaign conspired with Russia to interfere in the election, and whether Trump tried to obstruct that investigation.

The central document at issue is a March 2019 memo written by two senior Justice Department officials arguing that aside from important constitutional reasons not to accuse the president of a crime, the evidence gathered by Mueller did not rise to the level of a prosecutable case, even if Trump were not president.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued a scathing opinion saying that she had read the memo and that it showed that Barr was disingenuous when he cited the document as key to his conclusion that Trump had not broken the law..........

The only potential jail time will come from his tax issues. Nothing else will happen to produce jail time.

I don't think we'll see a repeat of the insurrection. There will be little delay for deployment of troops prior trump being arrested if it goes down that way. Law enforcement will be on post 9/11 type alert when the time comes.
Trump deserves jail time, otherwise it will encourage future presidents to flaunt the law. If people riot, then they also need to be arrested.

Don't know what he's worried about - he'll skip out on paying the bill like he usually does

Former President Donald Trump is frustrated over mounting legal bills amid two ongoing New York investigations into his business, according to a report by the Daily Beast.

Earlier this month, The New York attorney general's office announced that it was conducting a criminal probe into the Trump Organization's finances and whether they violated state laws. Another civil case launched by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has been ongoing.

The former president is reportedly frustrated with the investigations because of the possible legal peril they bring and the financial costs attached to them.

One source told the Daily Beast that Trump has complained that the legal bills are becoming "such a pain in the arse." The former president is reportedly also worried that investigators could drag the case out for years.

Close advisors and Trump's legal team have reassured the ex-president that they don't believe he will actually be indicted, two people familiar with the situation told the Daily Beast.

"I told him that he has nothing to worry about," one advisor said..................

If Trump's legal team assured me the Sun will rise in the East tomorrow, I'd start building a bunker against the Long Night.

How ironic is it that the legal team of the most prolific liar in American History is actually lying to their client. The meltdown when trump is indicted will be the likes of which we have never seen before.

    Guess I’ll put this here

is this illegal, like with charges illegal?

or is it just unethical AF?
    ====================

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has made no secret of his long list of political enemies. It just wasn’t clear until now how far he would go to try to punish them.

Two House Democrats disclosed this week that their smartphone data was secretly obtained by the Trump Justice Department as part of an effort to uncover the source of leaks related to the investigation of Russian-related election interference.

It was a stunning revelation that one branch of government was using its power to gather private information on another, a move that carried echoes of President Richard Nixon during Watergate……..

It doesn’t appear to be illegal. Yet. But we really need to see the basis for requesting the subpoenas, we need to know what facts were used to justify such a sweeping seizure of personal records.

We also need to know why the investigation was revived by Barr, after the one began under Sessions was abandoned, presumably because no evidence of leaking was turned up.

Garland needs to step up and be more forthcoming, and he needs to do it pretty quickly. Barr and Sessions need to testify before the Senate also, and we need to look into what judge approved these subpoenas.

We also need to figure out who is left at the DOJ who took part in this, and escort them out the door.

I know it's early, but thus far, Garland seems pretty meh as AG.

So Sessions, Barr and Rosenstein all claim no knowledge of the subpoenas for Democratic members of Congress and staff, including one minor child.

I don't know if Trump goes to jail, but his rantings are as out there as they've ever been.

Well, he can't articulate, rant or rave, or pontificate anymore on Twitter, Facebook at least for another 1 1/2 ever since they took his favorite little "executive toys" away on pressing or existing social or political issues or any actions, words, unfavorable gestures he doesn't approve of or hates from celebrities, so the next best thing is to go on weeks-and--months long series of "barn storming" tours where he speaks to his large, yet carefully crafted, controlled MAGA cult-like followers in states that voted for him or certain regions of blue states that did.

I'd label these speeches you're going to hear about, Dave over the course of this summer and subsequently, "grievance sessions"--him making exaggerated claims, unproven lies about leftist Democrats, and X-Files-esque " deep-state " syndicates plotted and worked against him his entire time in office, blast every sensible, rational "RINO", fake conversative who truly understands this charade---a traveling freak show, for he truly is. He'll of course, promote the " Big Lie" vociferously, make umpteenth, unproven assertions of mass voter fraud, fraudulent voting systems and biased poll workers and monitors from the 2020 Presidential election and even argue the federal law enforcement, FBI joint reactions and the majority of most Americans collective towards the Jan. 6 insurrectionists is that they were "misguided, but well-meaning, angry patriots" who got carried away in the heat of the moment or that left-wing Antifa types infiltrated the throngs of people and started advocating violence to make Proud Boys, Boogaloos, Oathkeepers, "Trump's base", look bad.

I wonder if Trump or maybe some of his aides realize how perhaps these " grievance sessions" crisscrossing the country might unintentionally, from a PR marketing/public image perspective, turn him or them into being seen as silly, more ridiculous then seriously harmful carnival attraction. I'd imagine, at some point, there's going to be people showing up at rallies that are there more interested in Trump's "shock value" idiotic ramblings and how amusing and silly they are to listen to in person then true, diehard believers faithfully hanging on his every word or syllable. If Trump looks out in some of these large, sizable crowds at these rallies, and he sees sections of people laughing at him or ridiculing him, how's he's going to handle being the main event at a traveling political freak show? If he and his new team of ad-hoc political advisers aren't careful and keep repeating the same worn-out, tired boring, droning ridiculous claims ad nauseam, it becomes more like Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey circus and he's the stand-in for some miked-up, angry monkey in a cage throwing shirt at everyone.

I like this, he may be on the edge of the cliff....I sure hope we see him do jail time...
There is the possibility he might convince, threaten one of his high-ranking, Trump Organization execs to take the fall for him, like former CFO Wiessenberg, as a show of his loyalty and gratitude and possible hints of secretly supporting his family financially while he's in prison if he or someone similar agrees to fall on their swords.

He also could manipulate, coerce or threaten whatever remnant senses of love, loyalty and misguided duty some family members still have towards him, to take a "difficult, yet necessary sacrifice" for the long-term well-being, and interests of the family. Its difficult for me to imagine Jared Kushner being the appointed scapegoat, he's desperately trying to rebuild whatever shreds of his former, public socialite reputation he has left and he(and Ivanka) have kept a low-profile mostly since Trump left office. His sons, Donald Trump Jr. or Eric Trump, have struck me as groomable, gullible marks who Trump could throw under the bus as co-conspirators to NY state prosecutors and be apart of his grand, Wagnerian scheme of one family going down together in infamy, shame and public contempt.

Love your lyrics above...they sing to me....

Lol, Trump said “incredible facts”. What a buffoon.
