Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

"We can't do that to the country",

"A trial would tear the country apart",

"For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

If the function of a legal trial was to prove the innocence (rather than the guilt) of the accused, Alvin Kamara would have been in a Las Vegas jail cell since last year's Pro Bowl.

It's a minor misstatement but it betrays arguably the most fundamental principle of the legal system.

Supposedly DeSantis is already saying Florida won't extradite . . . sorry Ron, didn't they teach you the Extradition Clause in Con Law at Harvard Law? Sure they did.

I didn't know Ron was a lawyer, from the dangle of his rhetoric at the podium I had developed the impression that he was a gynecologist.

Narrative I heard on evening news was that this wasn't the case most concerning to Trump and some were concerned that Stormy Daniels WAS weaker than Jan 6th, executive records, and Georgia.

But holy shirt they brought the forking hammer. We all know he runs his shirt in a similar fashion to the mob - and this is how you take him down.

DeSantis is blowing a bunch of hot air. Trump wants the perp walk for his cultists to get riled up.

Like when they said if you're on the no-fly list you shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.

    Lindsey Graham misspelled RNC...

It is really frustrating to me how many top tier news outlets and writers are buying into this whole "first ex-president to face charges" angle. It only validates that the justice system in America is rooted in class, where the question of who the defendant is actually matters.

It's bullshirt. Justice is supposed to be blind, including to whether the charged person happened to be president. I know that's not how it works in reality but someone has to be the vanguard of these principles. High-minded journalists and writers should know better.

I think it is an important point, because most countries that indict an ex and current candidate are 3rd world countries. It was why there was so much hand ringing. The concern that this could lead to future political indictments, like 3rd world countries, is real. It matters that it hasn’t happened before, even though we’ve had other presidents that have committed crimes, but it took someone as calllous as Trump to actually indict. If the media wasn’t noting that first, most people would think Nixon was indicted. This might turn more people off of Trump, just like Nixon started losing support once people realized that he was guilty.

He is a one term president. I think it’s only reasonable and he has already said it.
Who? Biden? or Trump? I think both should remain one-term presidents. It's a travesty, but a lot of people still want to re-elect Trump. And honestly, Biden is too old. I cannot possibly get excited about 2024 if its these 2 again. 2 old white men after the previous 2 presidential races?? So meh.
